**Burly Men With Powers** The last decade has seen many changes in mainstream media, but possibly the most surprising has been the massive rise in popularity of superheroes - thanks in no small part to the MCU, the DCEU, and Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. What’s interesting though, is that superheroes have always been popular in animation. From Western cartoons like X-Men, Justice League Unlimited, Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk, to anime titles like Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, Casshern, One-Punch Man and My Hero Academia.  So how do superheroes fit into the modern animated landscape, and what actually counts as a superhero when it comes to anime? **After School Goth Club** This week it’s anime all the way as Tucky, Mark and Rob get several shows out of their systems, and kicking things off is series two of the show that’s basically catering porn - Food Wars! The Second Plate.  After that it’s time for some painfully secret high school experiments (and other stuff), in Kiznaiver, and a dive into the dark fantasy world of Overlord II to watch some lizard-men in their native habitat before we head to outer space for some giant robot on giant robot action in Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky. **Somewhere Over The Redub** Subs versus dubs.  It’s the oldest continuing debate in anime, and with a variety of arguments for and against one or the other, it doesn’t look like ending any time soon. **Giant Robot Punch-Up in Space** Once upon a time there was a goose that laid golden eggs …  China and the wider South-East Asian region has their own literal version of that famous goose in the form of The Monkey King, and there are numerous movies, TV shows, books, songs, comics, video games, manga and anime that have found inspiration in classic tales like Journey To The West.   Now it’s the turn of director Stephen Chow to get in on the Monkey King action with his planned animated TV series that aims to open the the character up to a global audience.  After that it’s time for the serious business of anime, so Mark girds his loins and ventures once more into his own personal giant robot hell with the first four episode movies of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin.
