As winter draws in, there are many across the country who flock to the south of China with its warmer climate and pristine beaches. However, there are those more daring with their travel plans who head north looking for snowy adventures in the icy climates of Northeast China. Volga Manor, situated outside the suburbs of Harbin, is a 600,000-square-meter homage to the city's Russian influences, with 30 buildings and a replica ship constructed on the site since 2007. Named after the Volga River in Russia, the park aims to reproduce the historical role that Russian architecture and culture have played in Harbin by re-creating classic buildings, art and cuisine that sit alongside more modern attractions, such as sledging and snowmobile rides. But there is one particular aspect of the debate that’s often overlooked - songs - and with that in mind, Andrew, Tucky and Rob decide to investigate whether songs in anime should be redubbed into English.  After a rousing discussion it’s back to our usual business of what we’ve been watching, which this week are part 1 of the stunning adaptation of Kore Yamazaki’s (Frau Faust), hit supernatural folklore story The Ancient Magus’ Bride, and the anime version of Kozue Amano’s (Aqua, Aria), scuba diving slice-of-life manga Amanchu! Bcom, Kat and Leo are back with the final half of their Spring 2018 anime season impressions. Things got pretty heated this episode at times, but not between the hosts themselves. There are just some anime that really bring out the ire of our hosts, and press all of our buttons. It seemed like almost all of those anime were in this second half of our impressions. Whether it was Doreiku and Magical Girl Site for Bcom, Hisone to Masotan and Comic Girls for Kat, or Devil’s Line and Bcom constantly editing the Google doc to annoy Leo, we all had to blow off some steam this episode. Bcom, Kat, and Leo are joined by Brains from the Trash Pandas Watch Anime podcast to break down the upcoming Spring 2018 anime season. We go show by show through almost 60 TV anime, and give you the rundown on whether we think they’ll be worth a watch, or at least worth a drunken hate-watch. In doing so, I think we all learned a lot about everyone who took part in this cast. Leo is clearly a manga snob. Kat just wants pretty boys to be healthy and drink more milk. Brains, who has watched over 1,000 anime in his time, has happily accepted moe into his heart as the one truly great genre.
