On today's episode, I'm sharing an insightful conversation with Vanessa Bennett, a licensed depth psychologist and co-author of It's Not Me, It's You. Together, we delve into the complexities of codependency and relationship dynamics, exploring how societal norms shape our understanding of love and attachment. Vanessa shares her journey from advertising to therapy and how she learned to value authenticity over attachment in relationships. Plus, how triggers can be opportunities for growth and why breaking up doesn't have to be a total mess. Whether you're navigating a breakup or seeking healthier relationship patterns, I hope you find Vanessa's tips just as valuable as I have! Read the show notes for today's episode at terricole.com/741

PROGRESSIVE ROCK VOCALIST/SONGWRITER/MUSICIAN NAD SYLVAN ANNOUNCES RAW & PERSONAL NEW ALBUM ENTITLED ‘MONUMENTATA' LAUNCHING THE SINGLE “THAT'S NOT ME” ZOOM EXCLUSIVE ON INTERVIEWING THE LEGENDS WITH RAY SHASHO. Nad Sylvan, known as vocalist with legendary guitarist Steve Hackett, announces his vulnerable & personal new solo album ‘Monumentata' for release on June 20th, 2025, via InsideOutMusic. Sylvan's music draws heavily from the golden age of progressive rock while blending in folk, classical, and modern rock influences, resulting in a sound that feels both classic and contemporary. This collection of 8 tracks continues bridging those styles while sprinkling in a few more, from the jazzy-pop feel of “Flowerland” to the 60's R&B influenced “Monte Carlo Priceless,” to the aggressive rock flavour of “That's Not Me.” While Sylvan handles vocals, keyboards and most of the guitar parts, the album features a number of notable guest appearances, the singer is helped out by fellow Hackett band member Jonas Reingold, Nick Beggs, and Tony Levin. On this week's episode of Kliq This, Kevin Nash and Sean Oliver settle in for a deep and wide-ranging conversation that goes far beyond wrestling. The episode, titled “It's Not Me, It's You,” touches on everything from Kevin's return to the road for a fan convention, to thoughtful reflections on grief, fatherhood, autism, and the emotional impact of connecting with fans face-to-face. Kevin opens up about what it felt like to get back out in the world after some time away, recounting his travel experience, interactions with fans, and a touching story about someone who brought him a photo of his late son that hit him harder than expected. He and Sean also dig into the kind of connection that can form between performers and their audiences—especially when people feel seen, heard, and understood. Whether it's the dad who listens to the podcast in the car with his daughter, or the fans who just want a minute to say thanks, Kev gets real about what that means to him at this stage in his life. The guys also spend some time talking about Kevin's run-in with Shannon Elizabeth at the con (yes, she owns a rhino), and the surreal feeling of chatting casually with Henry Winkler when your brain still remembers him as “The Fonz.” There's a moment where the conversation shifts into a discussion of autism and how people on the spectrum can be misread or mishandled by those who don't understand. Kevin draws on his own experiences with his son to talk about empathy, patience, and just taking the time to listen. Later in the episode, they analyze John Cena's current direction in WWE, breaking down the psychology of a slow-burn breakup between a performer and the audience that used to love him. It's not just about titles—it's about worth, legacy, and feeling like you gave your all only to be left behind. That leads into a great sidebar on Kurt Angle's criminally underrated TNA run and why that company never got the respect it deserved. As always, there are plenty of laughs too. Kevin recounts getting pulled over and ticketed in what may or may not have been a construction zone, tells stories from his days in the business, and somehow we end up talking about orbs flying over Daytona, chamomile tea, Ron White stand-up, and black shoe polish as a home remedy for ringworm. It's one of those episodes that bounces between hilarious, heartfelt, and heavy without missing a beat. Whether you're here for the wrestling talk, the behind-the-scenes stories, or the real-life reflections, this one delivers across the board. Does anyone look forward to a review? NOT ME!? What kind of review did this church get and how were they challenged?
This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.theflyingfrisby.comBeware: imposters! Anyone appearing to be me, but soliciting you to chat on Telegram or WhatsApp or anywhere is NOT ME. It is someone trying to scam you out of your money. Some subscribers have reported difficulties upgrading their subscription to Lifetime. If so, please message me on Substack or reply to this email and I will put it right. Because of this I am extending the offer for a couple more days.We are talking testosterone today.I posted this video on YouTube the other day of me breaking the Lewisham dead hang record. Dead hangs are not the greatest spectator sport, so it might be one to watch sped up. In any case, somebody in the comments asked if I had been taking some kind of testosterone supplement. The answer is, “sort of.”Testosterone is something I have been meaning to write about for a while, and it is something I have been experimenting with, so here goes.I haven't had TRT - testosterone replacement therapy - or anything like that, but I have been looking to improve my testosterone levels, and I think I have had some success.Getting your levels up, whether man or woman, will make you feel A LOT better.Physically, higher testosterone levels mean more energy, more muscle, more fat burn, better sleep, better cardiovascular health and blood flow, better bone density and less inflammation. These are all super important once you pass 50.You're stronger, basically.Mentally, with more testosterone, your concentration improves, you become more targeted - that's another way of saying your focus improves (I don't like the word focus) - your spirits are higher, your confidence improves, you get bolder, more assertive and more driven. I have noticed improvements to all of the above. One thing, in particular, I have also noticed is a lower tolerance of fools, a higher appetite for risk and much more of a DNGAF attitude, which is something I've always wished I had more of. I had a blood test in September 2023 and it showed my testosterone level as 577 ng/dL. The normal range is 200-750ng/dL. An athlete in his early 20s might have levels above that. So my levels were above average - upper-middle - without being amazing. Testosterone peaks at 18 (probably why young men get into such trouble), then declines ever after. After 30 it declines at 1% per annum. But once you pass 45 - take note - there is an acceleration in decline. That is what we need to address.I haven't done another test, but I know my levels have improved. I can feel it. And I think I am well above 600ng/dL.Here is how to improve your testosterone1. ExerciseLift weightsRegular strength training boosts testosterone production, especially in the short term. Resistance training stimulates muscle growth, which signals the body to release more testosterone. Intensity matters - heavier weights with lower reps has a bigger impact. Compound movements such as squats, press-ups, bench presses and deadlifts are particularly effective.SprintSprints are more effective than light jogging. In fact, any kind of HIIT is good. I usually jog for 2 or 3 miles then do 4 30-second sprints up a hill at the end. It takes me about half an hour in total. Short, maximum-effort sprints (even just 6-10 seconds at 90-100% effort) with full recovery periods (1-2 minutes) work best. Play some competitive sportAny kind of competitive sport is good. Tennis, table tennis even. I still play footy - 6-a-side. I've found in the last year I am going in for challenges that I would not have attempted ten years ago. But, of the above three, resistance training is the most important.2. Other habitsSleepGood sleep is as important as exercise, perhaps even more so. The majority of your testosterone is produced when you are asleep. 7-9 hours is optimal. 5-6 hours and your levels drop by 10-15% in just a few days. One 2011 study found young men restricted to 5 hours of sleep had testosterone levels closer to someone 10-15 years older. My guide to sleeping better is here, but … go to bed an hour earlier.Use mouthtape when you sleep - breathing through your nose is better for testosterone. Lord knows why but that's what the bros say. What next?

The festive period is supposed to be a time for gathering with friends and family to have fun and celebrate the end of the year, but it can also easily tip over into a time of great excess, especially when it comes to our alcohol consumption. While many of us are able to have a few drinks and enjoy ourselves without any problems, for others it can be a crutch to help deal with difficult family relationships, and other end-of-year pressures. The Quicky speaks to three women who've given up the grog for different reasons to find out how you can avoid temptation to go overboard this Christmas, stay sober and still have a great time. Welcome to a podcast that promises to reshape how you approach negotiation and communication. Based on J. Paul Nadeau's acclaimed book Dammit, Just Ask!, this series draws from Paul's extraordinary career as a hostage negotiator and Special Victims Unit detective to deliver actionable insights and transformative strategies. At its heart is Nadeau's philosophy of “We, Not Me”, encouraging listeners to abandon confrontational tactics in favor of collaboration and connection. This mindset prioritizes respect and understanding, creating outcomes that benefit all parties involved. Here's what you can expect from the podcast: 1. The PIER Negotiation Method Listeners will explore the PIER framework—Planning, Intent, Engagement, and Relationships—a step-by-step approach that turns complex negotiations into manageable conversations. Each element will be broken down with practical strategies to help you plan meticulously, clarify your intent, and engage authentically for lasting, meaningful relationships. 2. The Power of Relationships Drawing from compelling stories, such as his transformative interaction with a young offender named Aaron, Paul highlights the power of establishing trust—even in the most high-pressure situations. Relationships are the foundation of successful negotiations, and this podcast reveals how to foster them effectively. 3. Active and Soulful Listening True understanding goes beyond words. The podcast delves into techniques like active listening and Nadeau's unique soulful listening, which focuses on uncovering emotions, motivations, and unspoken needs. By listening deeply, you can connect with your counterpart on a profound level, paving the way for mutual understanding. 4. Identifying and Addressing Pain Points Learn how to identify and address your counterpart's hidden fears and concerns—what Paul calls their “invisible nooses.” This client-focused approach not only builds trust but also encourages transparency, allowing for solutions that meet the needs of all parties involved. 5. Embracing the Power of Asking The mantra is simple: “Dammit, Just Ask!” This podcast empowers listeners to overcome hesitations and ask for what they want, using well-planned strategies to increase their chances of success. Paul's own experiences demonstrate how bold, effective asking can open doors to remarkable opportunities. 6. The PAID Technique When faced with objections or heightened emotions, Paul introduces the PAID method—Pause, Assess, Identify, and Discuss. This technique offers a calm and constructive way to address challenges, maintain productive dialogue, and keep negotiations on track. 7. The SALES Acronym Drawing from Chris Do's SALES framework—Serve, Ask, Listen, Empathize, Summarize—the podcast equips listeners with additional tools to enhance communication and drive better outcomes, whether in professional negotiations or personal conversations. Why Listen? This podcast is more than just a guide to negotiation; it's a masterclass in building trust, fostering connection, and achieving success with integrity. Whether you're navigating high-stakes business deals or everyday challenges, Paul's techniques will help you approach every conversation with confidence and purpose. Paul Nadeau's Dammit, Just Ask! podcast, you're not just learning to negotiate—you're learning to transform your approach to communication, relationships, and life itself. Tune in, and let the journey begin!
Riding Shotgun With Charlie #217 Desi Bergman Not Me SD I met Desi Bergman at GunProm held by San Diego County Gun Owners back in June of 2022. I met a lot of people that weekend. I may have been “over self-served.” But at Gun Rights Policy Conference in 2024, we got to meet again. And I'll remember it this time. (Gulp!) I always plan on filming shows while I'm on a trip, and GPRC 2024 was no different. But I had to make changes to my plans. Desi and I caught up on the Friday evening social. I asked if she was interested in doing the show and she agreed to it. We headed to Coronado Island and got a selfie at Dog Beach. As a young child, guns were always around for her and her family. Her grandparents owned a farm in central California. While her dad was out checking the property, she was the girl who was shooting at rabbits from the truck with a BB gun. Her father was a sheriff reserve and taught the kids to respect firearms, how to be safe, and how to shoot. One of her prized possessions is her father's Colt Python. When her mother inquires about it, she keeps telling her it's in for repair. Having been in San Diego for 13 years, she discovered San Diego County Gun Owners about five years ago. I had Michael Schwartz from SDCGO on episode #153. Desi & Michael met at a BBQ for SDCGO. He was telling her about Not Me SD and how he was trying to get it up and going. She loved the idea and got involved in volunteering to learn more about it. When the virus that shall not be named hit, they needed someone to be more involved. She stepped up and took on the part-time role. There were some instructing certifications she needed and earned. Having them gives her more credentials for converting women to gun ownership. Not Me SD is a program for women who are survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. The program takes the women all through the process to get a CCW in California. They have scholarships for those in need. They teach the women all aspects of self defense, from situational awareness, pepper spray, and firearms. Since 2020, females are the largest growing demographic of firearms owners and those who are seeking out training. Not Me is a huge resource for women who want help. They have regular and monthly get-togethers for training and shooting socials, as they call them. This pairs women up with instructors. We do talk about the process to get a permit in The Golden State. There's a quick and easy 30 question test to get the firearm safety card, which is step one. We did talk about what makes a good first gun for a woman. Of course there is no “correct” answer, but it was fun to talk about. Desi used a term about GLOCK that I hadn't heard before. She called it the “Honda of the gun world.” Ya know, she's not wrong. We also talked about the SIG P365 getting added to the CA roster and using red dots. One of the amazing success stories from Not Me SD is of a woman who was shot in the neck twice by her ex-husband. Not only did she survive the incident but she got into firearms and self protection, she enjoyed learning and turned into a survivor. A big step for DV survivors is actually hearing the gun being fired. Her program has reached over 1,300 women. Everytime she is on a local TV show, she has more and more people reaching out to get training and education. California has a roster, much like Massachusetts. Both states have lots of restrictions and unconstitutional laws about firearms. We also have so-called assault weapon bans and magazine restrictions. Desi and I talked more about Not Me SD while we drove to Coronado Island. We grabbed a selfie at Dog Beach. San Diego is a beautiful place. The weather is amazing. It could be a perfect place, but the gun laws in Cali… Not so much. Favorite quotes: “I was holding a gun since I was two years old and I could hold one.” “I like to have all the qualifications because it help me articulate better when I'm teaching these classes.” “GLOCKS are the Honda of the gun world.” “We always end the day with a mag dump on the .22.” “I believe that women should have as many tools as they can to protect themselves.” Not Me SD https://sandiegocountygunowners.com/notmesd/ Not Me CA https://www.notmeca.org/ Not Me CA Facebook https://www.facebook.com/NotMeCA/ Gun Owners Radio Instagram https://www.instagram.com/sdgunowners Second Amendment Foundation https://secure.anedot.com/saf/donate?sc=RidingShotgun Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms https://www.ccrkba.org/ Please support the Riding Shotgun With Charlie sponsors and supporters. In his sermon "It's Not Me, It's You" at Cherry Hills Community Church, Pastor Gary Thomas tackled the delicate issue of toxic relationships with humor and biblical wisdom. He reminded us that while Jesus calls us to love others, He doesn't ask us to put up with harmful behaviors that drain our joy and peace. Drawing from scriptures, Pastor Gary shared practical steps to set healthy boundaries, seek God's guidance, and find the strength to walk away when necessary. He highlighted how God's Word gives us the tools to discern and navigate toxic relationships gracefully—because sometimes, the best thing you can do is say, "Bless you...from over here!"

On today's NYFF62 podcast, we welcome director Leos Carax to discuss his film It's Not Me, in an extended conversation with Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and director Annie Baker. In his new film, the French cinema firebrand lovingly evokes the aesthetics of Jean-Luc Godard, paying aptly cheeky respect to the late New Wave master, his own career, and cinema itself, rummaging through a century of movies to situate his work within a continuum of the medium. In episode 63, Chris and Emma talked with Sheldon Gay, a serial entrepreneur with a background in engineering and a tech-focused MBA. As a late-identified gifted and, therefore, neurodivergent Black man, Sheldon uses his experiences to help others embrace their unique identities and foster community through his podcast, I Must Be BUG'N.In this episode, we dive into the complexities of giftedness, the importance of diverse voices in the gifted community, and the journey of self-discovery. Here are three key takeaways from our conversation:The Power of Mirroring: Sheldon emphasizes the critical need for representation and mirroring within the gifted community, especially for marginalized populations. Many gifted individuals often feel isolated, believing they are the only ones experiencing their unique challenges. By elevating diverse voices, we can create a more inclusive environment where everyone feels seen and understood. This mirroring is essential for fostering authentic connections and validating our experiences.Self-Reflection as a Tool for Growth: Throughout our conversation, we explore the importance of self-awareness and self-reflection in navigating the complexities of giftedness. Sheldon shares his journey of discovering the theory of positive disintegration and how it opened the floodgates to understanding himself better. This process of introspection is not just about identifying where we stand but also about recognizing the areas where we can grow. It's a reminder that our paths are not linear, and embracing the messiness of self-discovery is part of the journey.Challenging Traditional Definitions of Giftedness: Part of our conversation touches on the traditional definitions of giftedness, which often focus on IQ and academic performance. Sheldon challenges this by suggesting giftedness is a multifaceted experience that encompasses emotional depth, creativity, and unique perspectives. By broadening our understanding of what it means to be gifted, we can create a more inclusive understanding that celebrates diverse talents and abilities. We also discuss levels of development, self-awareness, and multidimensionality. Doing inner work and exploring our depths. Sheldon introduces the concept of "shadow thoughts," which are the unspoken beliefs and internal narratives that shape our self-perception. These thoughts often originate from external influences, such as societal expectations or familial messages, and can hinder authentic self-expression. By confronting and understanding these shadow thoughts, individuals can begin to dismantle the barriers that prevent them from fully embracing their giftedness. This is a rich conversation, and we invite you to join us. Introduction: Minutes 0 to 4:15 I watched Thunder Force on Netflix and loved it. Chandra had to subscribe to ESPN+ due to DirectTV's feud with Disney. She is watching In the Arena with Serena Williams. Royals: Minute 4:15 to 21:00 The last time we recorded the Sussexes had arrived in Colombia. They pulled off that trip like professionals and the optics were amazing. Colombia's Vice President Francia Marquez said that Harry and Meghan's visit really highlighted tourism. We heard that it only cost Colombia less than $60,000 to provide security for them. The Sussexes did a great job making photos available to agencies. Emily Andrews let it slip that Buckingham Palace had talking points about this trip. King Charles went to Southport last week to visit the families of children who were murdered in a knife attack. Charles has been staying in Scotland at his smaller home, Birkhall, while other members of the family stay at Balmoral. Kate was seen headed to church there on August 25th. There was a story in GB News that Zara and Mike Tindall were being asked to relieve Prince William and Princess Kate. There's an undercurrent that William and Kate are incapable of doing their jobs. Prince Harry made a secret visit to the UK last week to go to his uncle Robert Fellowes' funeral. Harry stayed at Althorp with the Earl Spencer. You could tell that the Windsors were super mad they didn't know about Harry's visit ahead of time. The Windsors are mad at how much the Spencers support Harry. There's been a narrative in the British press that Harry wants to come back to the UK to do royal work. It's clearly coming from William's side. This narrative has been pushed by William for years. Chandra thinks this storyline is an attempt to distract from what's going on with Kate. Toward the end of this month Prince Harry is going to be in New York solo for UN climate week. He's going to speak at the Clinton Global Initiative. Prince William will not be going to NY on behalf of Earthshot despite pathetically trying to copykeen Harry's trip last year. We wonder why William and Kate didn't do any events during the Sussexes' trip. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: Minutes 21:00 to 31:30 This week both Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt premiered their movies at the Venice Film Festival. Angelina is starring as opera star Maria Callas in the biopic Maria. She is getting Oscar buzz for that and it's coming out on Netflix. Braad is starring with George Clooney in the Apple streaming movie Wolfs. It was supposed to come out in theaters but that's not happening. Brad Pitt made his red carpet debut with Ines de Ramon. Brad and Angelina are covering People Magazine this week with the title “Brad and Angelina, their 8 year divorce, Can they Finally Move On,” as if Brad's legal battle against Angelina is mutual. The whole narrative comes from Brad and it's the same garbage we've seen from him for years as he uses legal means to continue to try and punish Angelina for leaving him after he abused her and their children. Brad Pitt looks pulled and puffy recently. There's been a shift in public perception about Brad Pitt, especially since Shiloh changed her last name. Comments of the week: Minutes 31:30 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from It Really Is You, Not Me on the post about Justin Theroux's engagement. My comments of the week are from HeatherC and Indica on Rosie's post about Oasis potentially adding US dates to their tour. Thanks for listening bitches!
