Addressing Common Health Issues for Women 50 and Over with Charli Brown

Midlife. I get it. Our lives have changed drastically from when we were in our 20s and, for many, maybe even our 30s. And within all of that change is our bodies adapting to our new new normal. Change happens. So how do we deal with it all? Doctors have in-depth knowledge about bodies. And guess what? So do nurses! Charli Brown is one such nurse. Charli recently earned her Masters in Nursing Education and she puts her knowledge to good use. Charli has been described as fun and a little bossy. She refers to herself after retiring as an oncology nurse as a “knowledge broker” with her focus heavy on health and wellness education. She is a mentor to women and personal coaches, as well as the co-host of The For Real Life podcast where she continues to serve women to live their REAL life out loud. You can also find her working on her passion project - The Rooted Kafe. She is a wife, mom, Yaya, personal development junkie and will never pass up a plate of Indian food. Charli and I talk about the health issues with which women age 50+ have to contend. And there's one important thing that Charli wants us to know: for every decrease that happens after 50 there are increases to fix and prevent it from getting worse. ________________________ Visit Midlife-A-Go-GoMidlife-A-Go-Go on Facebook Midlife-A-Go-Go on Instagram Midlife-A-Go-Go on Twitter

Novelty and How the Little Things Can Have a Big Impact with Pam Lamp

Have you had a major shift later in life? Were you prepared for it? Did you embrace it? Sometimes we're thrown into situations that are out of our control. How we handle it can either make us or break us. Sometimes, all it takes is a little change in our thinking to unlock a world of opportunities in the midst of change. That sums up Pam Lamp. Almost 4 years ago, Pam and her husband relocated from Houston, Texas to Nashville. It was a difficult transition for her, moving to someplace where she didn’t know a soul. To find friends and create a community, she devised a project for herself that she called “My New Thing For Today.” Each day she vowed to do one new thing that would help her settle into her surroundings and slowly, Nashville began to feel like home. It was the little things that were sustaining her. Pam realized that learning and doing new things, something that she refers to as “novelty,” was good for the mind and spirit. With that novelty, she developed awareness, confidence, a passion and a purpose and a variety of new interests.  ________________________ Visit Midlife-A-Go-GoMidlife-A-Go-Go on Facebook Midlife-A-Go-Go on Instagram Midlife-A-Go-Go on Twitter

I don't want to overplay the coronavirus or Covid-19 because, well . . . we see and hear enough about it across the airwaves every damn day. Instead, I'm turning my attention to midlife women, and asking the question, "Do you feel caught in the middle?" Follow-up question: "Are you taking care of yourself?" This special episode of "Midlife-A-Go-Go the podcast!" is dedicated to midlife women the world over who need a respite, need to take a break, and need to keep from strangling everyone in the house.
