Things are never going to calm down, and if you're waiting for the perfect moment to prioritize yourself, you're going to be waiting forever. In this episode, I'm tackling the #1 pattern I see keeping women over 50 stuck: putting everyone else's needs ahead of their own. If you've ever told yourself "I'll start once things settle down" or "I just don't have time right now," this episode is your wake-up call. You'll learn:Why the "I don't have time" excuse is keeping you burnt out, inflamed, and exhaustedThe real reason you struggle to make yourself a priority (hint: it's not about time)The airplane oxygen mask principle—and why your family needs you to put yourself firstSimple, practical strategies to create non-negotiable self-care habits without overhauling your entire lifeHow to set boundaries and delegate tasks (even when things won't be "perfect")Why your future self—three months, six months, or next summer—is counting on you to start NOWThis isn't about being selfish. It's about being sustainable. Your hormones demand it. Your metabolism demands it. Your future health demands it.Bottom line: Midlife doesn't slow down, but you can choose to show up for yourself anyway. I'm sharing my word for 2026 (discernment) and challenging you to stop treating your needs as optional.Ready to make 2026 the year you finally put yourself first? Your bones, brain, and muscles are having the same conversation—and nutrition is the translator. Duke orthopedic surgeon Dr. Jocelyn Wittstein breaks down how midlife hormone shifts accelerate bone loss, cartilage wear, and muscle decline, and why training + food choices can improve all three at once. We cover earlier DEXA timing, the bone–brain crosstalk (osteocalcin, agility, balance), and a practical plan: progressive strength, safe impact/jump options (step drops, heel drops, rebounders), grip and toe work for fall prevention, and weighted vests/rucking basics. On the nutrition side, we get specific: prioritize protein, aim for food-first calcium, and use targeted support where appropriate—vitamin D, omega-3s, magnesium glycinate, collagen, and turmeric—to lower inflammation, protect joints, and support cognition. Expect clear modifications for cranky knees/shoulders, plus why consistent movement is linked to reduced dementia risk. This episode is your integrated blueprint to build bone, protect your brain, and keep muscle on your frame—so you stay strong, steady, and independent for decades. Actionable, hopeful, and BS-free—use this episode to build stronger bones, happier joints, and real confidence for the next 20 years.Follow Dr. Jocelyn Wittstein at https://www.instagram.com/jocelyn_wittstein_md/Her book, The Complete Bone and Joint Health Plan, is available at booksellers._________________________________________1:1 health and nutrition coaching or Faster Way - Reach me anytime at mailto:mfolanfasterway@gmail.com If you're doing “all the right things” and still feel stuck, it may be time to look deeper. Alright, Magic Makers—today I'm getting a little spicy. I'm calling out the two lies I used to tell myself all the damn time, and if you've ever said, “I'll start when things calm down” or “I just need 30 days to get my sh*t together,” this one's gonna sting (in a good way). Lie #1: “I'll start when life calms down.” Let's be real—when has that ever happened? If you're waiting for your schedule to magically open up, you might be waiting till retirement. I'll tell you how I learned to show up even when life feels like a circus (and yes, sometimes it totally is). Lie #2: “I just need 30 days to get back on track.” Oh, I used to love this one. I'd go all-in, white-knuckle my way through, and then crash hard. Turns out, short bursts don't build lasting change consistency does. I'll show you what finally worked for me (and my clients) once I ditched the “perfect plan” fantasy. Messy action beats perfect planning every single time. I'll walk you through how I picked my 1–3 non-negotiables, those boring basics that actually make progress stick. Spoiler: they're not sexy, but they work. Expect a few laughs, a few “ugh, she's right” moments, and a whole lot of permission to stop waiting for the perfect time and just start now. Your challenge this week: Pick your 1–3 non-negotiables. Write them down. Stick ‘em on your mirror. Then do them, even if it's messy. Especially if it's messy. Mentioned in this episode: – by Gary Keller – My two previous episodes on “” Let's keep the convo going: Come hang out with me in the or tag me on Instagram and tell me your 3 non-negotiables. I love cheering on messy progress—because that's where the real transformation happens.
