On today's episode, I seek to answer the question "What if I tried Intuitive Eating and it didn't work for me?" With the help of Binge Eating Recovery and Body Image Coach, Stefanie Michele, I attempt to better understand why Intuitive Eating doesn't "click" with certain people, and the most common things that get in the way when trying to heal your relationship with food. This conversation was pretty eye opening for me and made me recognize some patterns within myself that I had not thought too deeply about before. This is the perfect episode for anyone who's interested in Intuitive Eating, but doesn't feel like they are quite "there" yet! Friends, I'm excited to share this episode with you all because it's on a subject I've been struggling with recently. We're going to talk about movement. My relationship with movement has gone up and down, if you've been listening to this podcast from the beginning, and part of the struggle is that there's part of me that still connects exercise to weight loss and that makes it feel a bit like punishment. So I keep researching movement and one of the people I've met who has been wonderful at helping and coaching me through this disconnect is my guest today: Kim Hagle. Kim is a size-inclusive fitness specialist, a non-diet nutritionist, and a body image coach who founded Radiant Vitality Wellness. She and her company offer weight neutral fitness training and transformational coaching and she also hosts the Power in Motion podcast on which I've been a guest! I'm so glad you get to meet her today, she is amazing. The first thing Kim shares is her personal journey with fitness, sports, movement, and dieting and how it led her eventually to making her fitness career weight neutral and size inclusive. She had some powerful revelations in her own life that helped her get here. In our conversation, Kim and I talk about how most fitness facilities are not seat up for people in larger bodies, from the physical space to the imagery to the mirrors, and how we need to not assume everyone entering a fitness center has weight loss as a goal. Kim speaks to how movement can incorporate anything that gets us moving and contributes to health in our bodies, what clothing we can wear to work out so we don't have to feel pressured into tiny spandex, having flexibility built into training goals, and the overall joy we should find in movement. Kim is warm and supportive and has helped change my perspective a lot, which I appreciate. Talking with her is so inspirational to me and I hope you all find similar inspiration from this episode. __About Kim Hagle:Kim Hagle (she/her) is a Size Inclusive Fitness Specialist,  Non-Diet Nutritionist, Body Image Coach and founder of Radiant Vitality Wellness.__Resources mentioned in this episode:Size Inclusive Training Academy__Learn more about Kim Hagle:Website: RadiantVitality.caPodcast: The Power in Motion PodcastInstagramFacebookYouTubeLinkedInPinterestLearn more about Dr. Michelle Tubman and Wayza Health:Website: www.wayzahealth.comFollow me on Facebook and Instagram

Jordana is a nutrition, behavior and body image coach who helps people feel more at ease around food and their bodies. She shares her personal journey of overcoming body image issues and how that led her to become a coach. Her approach is not about diets or restrictions, but rather about learning how to make thoughtful, intentional choices around food and focusing on individual needs and preferences. She also discusses the concept of bio-individuality, understanding that what works for someone else may not work for you. Jordana offers one-on-one coaching and is launching a semi-private coaching group starting soon. She encourages mindful eating and acknowledges that weight loss does not necessarily improve body image, but rather it's about finding self-worth beyond the size and shape of the body. In this episode we hear from Debby, who shares her story of what befriending her body has made available for her.Prior to beginning 1:1 coaching, Debby felt stuck and unfulfilled in life, and truly believed that her body was the problem.  She thought that losing weight would allow her to find love, get her dream job, wear the clothes she wanted, travel - but felt hopeless because even after  substantial weight loss, she still felt the same way.She struggled with  emotional eating, bingeing and hid her body behind baggy clothes.Through coaching, Debby realized that it wasn't her body that needed to change, but rather how she thought about herself as a person. As she began to believe in her inherent worthiness, and started treating herself with the kindness and respect she deserved, Debby noticed that her eating behaviour became more nourishing, she moved her body more consistently and she started wearing clothing that she felt comfortable in, including wearing a bathing suit at the beach without a cover up, for the first time in her adult life! Not only that, but because of her new found self-confidence Debby no longer lets her body hold her back.  She has created the life of her dreams and feels satisfied and content, knowing that she is worthy of having all that she desires. If you're ready for results like this, 1:1 coaching is the way.  Reach out and book your consultation today to talk about what's possible for you!About the HostKim Hagle (she/her)  is Certified Personal Trainer, Registered Holistic Nutritionist, Body Image Coach and founder of Radiant Vitality Wellness. Through mindset and movement coaching she helps women heal their relationship with food and exercise while disconnecting their worth from their weight, so they can feel healthy, happy and confident in the body they have.  New Here?  Download our free guide: 5 Ways to Feel Healthy, Happy and Confident - without obsessing over the scale.  Want to feel good in your body without focusing on weight?  Register for our 5 day mini training course. Since I pivoted the podcast away from focusing on weight loss to embrace the new direction of health at every size, I've struggled to find guests who embody those new concepts. Today, however, I get to introduce you to Amanda Mittman who beautifully embodies everything I want to focus on. Amanda is a registered dietitian, nutritionist, certified intuitive eating counselor, and a body image coach. She owns a group private practice of registered dietitians supporting people with disordered eating and eating disorders and she teaches providers how to incorporate body image counseling skills into their practice. What a perfect fit for the new direction this podcast is taking! I'm so grateful to have found Amanda.Amanda and I reflect upon our own journeys with disordered eating and weight loss, sharing stories from how we struggled to embrace our bodies and stop dieting. There is a lot of history to examine there and what it really does is give us a springboard to dive into diet culture at large and how deeply entrenched we all are in it. The journey to loving our bodies is not an easy one and Amanda argues that perhaps body love is not the ultimate goal, but that learning to respect and be kind to our bodies is easier to achieve. We talk about moving away from weight loss, the grief associated with abandoning a lifelong diet journey and accepting our bodies, intuitive eating, how body image and self-care are linked, and a whole host of other things that I know will resonate with all of you. Amanda is insightful and warm and our conversation was such a joy. I hope you find her as inspiring as I do.About Amanda MittmanAmanda is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and Body Image Coach. In addition to owning a group private practice of Registered Dietitians supporting people with disordered eating and eating disorders, she also teaches other providers how to incorporate body image counseling skills into their practice. She has worked with hundreds of clients in her career and what she knows is that people, especially women, feel so much shame around their body. And nobody is talking about this! Whether the client is in college, just had a baby or experiencing perimenopause/menopause, the conversation around the distress of a changing body is very similar. It is Amanda's mission for people to talk about this topic without shame, guilt, or sense of failure, and to understand the systemic forces that cause us to feel the way we do about our body.—Resources mentioned in this episode:Body Image with Bri—Contact Amanda Mittman:Website: HappyValleyNutrition.comInstagramLearn more about Dr. Michelle Tubman and Wayza Health:Website: www.wayzahealth.comFollow me on Facebook and Instagram
