Host: Ray Loewe Co-host: Mary Ann Steinhauer Guests: Dr. Heather Eck andDr. Kerry Hermann, IntegrityForward Hearing Solutions -------- Hearing loss can slowly and sneakily impede your relationships. You don't know you're not hearing what you're not hearing. When your ears aren't functioning properly, you're not getting information to the brain. It's the brain that actually interprets those hearing impulses and turns them into action. New hearing aid and hearing testing technologies have made and continue to make giant strides in hearing improvement. You need to put a good audiologist on your medical team. Not just one who will sell you new hearing aids.
On the tiny island of Golem Grad in North Macedonia, a population of Hermann's tortoise is heading for extinction, not because of predators or habitat loss, but because there are far too many males. They outnumber females by about 19 to one. Scientists say relentless mating attempts are leaving females injured, stressed and in some cases falling from cliffs as they try to escape. If the imbalance continues, researchers warn the last female could die within decades, sealing the fate of the entire island population…Joining Seán to discuss this is Yvonne Buckley, Professor of Zoology at Trinity College Dublin.

The Sound Chaser Progressive Rock Podcast is on the air. . This time I am exercising my professorial privilege to get just a bit educational. Much of progressive rock, especially in the early days, was based on classical music, including rock and jazz-rock versions of classical pieces. I dedicated show 24 all the way back in 2014 to spotlighting the prog-rock versions of classical music. In this show, I am turning the idea around. I will be playing the actual pieces of classical music that became the inspirations for progressive rock transcriptions. I will be discussing the prog rock versions with the help of excerpts from many favorite prog rock acts. With this audio essay, it is time truly to get in touch with the Classics on Sound Chaser. Featured composers include Holst, Mussorgsky, Smetana, Hermann, Jarre, Glass, Adams, Debussy, Beethoven, Wagner, Hovhannes, Janáček, Prokofiev, Rodrigo, Ligeti, Khatchaturian, Handel, Mozart, Tárrega, Saint-Saëns, Satie, Ravel. PodOmatic limits the number of characters for episode descriptions, and I could not cut enough to make it under the limit. So, I will be posting the fully detailed playlist on the Sound Chaser Progressive Rock Podcast Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/people/The-Sound-Chaser-Progressive-Rock-Podcast/61577332305605/, and in the comments on this page.

Dino Hermann liebt Sport.
Cestovatel, dobrodruh a playboy. In the early hours of March 3, 1993, someone snuck into the Maryland home of Millie Horn, where she lived with her disabled eight-year-old son, Trevor, and his nurse, Janice Saunders. After shooting both women in the head multiple times, the intruder smothered Trevor Horn to death, then quietly left the house. Hours later, the bodies of all three were discovered by Millie's sister, who stepped by to check on them.Almost immediately, suspicion fell on Millie Horn's ex-husband, Lawrence, who lived thousands of miles away in California, but with whom she'd spoken just hours before the murders occurred. In time, investigators were able to establish a financial motive, linking Lawrence Horn to the murders, yet they were unable to place Horn in Maryland when the murders occurred. Ultimately, Lawrence Horn would be tried and convicted for all three murders, but by that time, he wasn't sole perpetrator of the crime. And when prosecutors were finally able to pin down the men responsible for the deaths, it turned out the killers received guidance from a very surprising source.Recommendations:Phantasma By Kaylie SmithHappy Place By Emily HenryReferencesAssociated Press. 1993. Trump alleine bestimmt, welche Länder in diesem Friedensrat sitzen dürfen. Trump alleine entscheidet, welche Länder auch wieder rausfliegen. ...https://apolut.net/fuchse-verwalten-den-huhnerstall-von-hermann-ploppa/ Hosted on Acast. In this episode of John Solomon Reports, we engage in a thought-provoking discussion with Congressman Austin Scott from Georgia, a key figure on the House Intelligence Committee. Scott brings his strategic and fact-based approach to the table as we analyze President Trump's recent endeavors at Davos, particularly his bold push for Greenland. The Congressman emphasizes the strategic significance of Greenland for U.S. national security and its implications for NATO and European stability, highlighting how Trump's assertive stance has transformed European security policy. We also delve into the recent developments in Venezuela, where the arrest of drug kingpin Maduro marks a pivotal moment for the Western Hemisphere. Congressman Scott discusses the successful military operation and the importance of supporting Venezuela's transition to a democracy that reflects the will of its people. He expresses concern over the political motivations of some Democrats who seem more interested in undermining the President than in the success of the Venezuelan people.Furthermore, we tackle the pressing issue of food security in America, as Congressman Scott reflects on the challenges facing the agricultural economy and the need for bipartisan support to ensure the sustainability of American farmers. He sheds light on the recent farm assistance package and its implications for the future of agriculture in the U.S.Next, we explore the evolving landscape of race and government policy in America with Kimberly Hermann, the driving force behind the Southeastern Legal Foundation. As the courts increasingly clarify that racial considerations cannot dictate government actions, we discuss significant legal victories, including a landmark case involving USDA aid for farmers that exposed discriminatory practices against white male farmers. Hermann emphasizes the constitutional mandate that prohibits racial discrimination in government decisions, shedding light on the implications of recent court rulings. We also delve into the contentious issue of gerrymandering, particularly in Louisiana, where the legality of racially engineered congressional districts is under scrutiny. With the Supreme Court's recent trend against racial preferences, we contemplate the potential for a political realignment as states grapple with these legal challenges. Finally, JP De Gance, founder and president of Communio National Ministry, shares his insights on the stark contrast between the current administration and its predecessor regarding support for the faith community. J.P. highlights the positive steps taken by President Trump to bolster Christian values, including the establishment of the White House faith office and the open discussions of faith among administration officials.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Tim sits down with Max Bennett to explore how our brains evolved over 600 million years—and what that means for understanding both human intelligence and AI.Max isn't a neuroscientist by training. He's a tech entrepreneur who got curious, started reading, and ended up weaving together three fields that rarely talk to each other: comparative psychology (what different animals can actually do), evolutionary neuroscience (how brains changed over time), and AI (what actually works in practice).*Your Brain Is a Guessing Machine*You don't actually "see" the world. Your brain builds a simulation of what it *thinks* is out there and just uses your eyes to check if it's right.

Series FiveThis episode of 'The New Abnormal' podcast features Dr Isabella Hermann, a political scientist who analyses and speaks on the subject of science-fiction.She focuses particularly on how the genre reflects emerging technologies, socio-political value systems, and global politics. This includes various topics like artificial intelligence and robotics, climate change and Mars colonization, as well as mobility and education and many more. Isabella believes that essentially, science fiction provides a “commentary on the present from the future” on every issue that concerns us today. The narratives oscillating between the realistically imaginable and the metaphorical, offering two distinct levels of interpretation. This, she thinks, is what makes the genre so compelling and relevant for our current times. So, I hope you enjoy listening to her views in this wide-ranging discussion as much as I did!
In this episode, Carlos Gonzalez de Villaumbrosia interviews Zeb Hermann, General Manager, v0 at Vercel, the AI cloud platform recently valued at $9.3 billion. He explains why Vercel prioritizes a "vetoe-based" culture over approvals and how AI tools are enabling a new era of "full-stack" designers and PMs who contribute directly to the codebase. What you'll learn:Speed as a Principle: How to move from an approvals-based culture to a "vetoes-based" culture. The "Full Stack" Team: Why the most effective teams have designers and PMs who ship their own PRs.Prototype to Production: Strategies for closing the gap between AI prototypes and production-ready applications.Key takeaways
Ask David Why do I obsess? Why do I have to be perfect? How can I share my feelings without oversharing? The answers to today's questions are brief and were written prior to the show. Listen to the podcast for a more in-depth discussion of each question. Here are the questions for today's podcast. Zhang asks: I have intrusive daydreams and obsess about getting things perfect? What's causing this? And what can I do? Yevhen asks: How can I use "I Feel" Statements without oversharing? But first, we start today's podcast with a comment from Susan, one of our podcast fans. She extends our discussion of whether friendship is more of a human "need" or a human "want." She describes her work with Dr. Daniel Herman, a Level 4 certified TEAM CBT therapist. Hi Rhonda, Matt, and David, First, I wanted to say I am so glad sweet Rhonda is feeling better. This is wonderful news! I have been a fan of Dr. Burns books for 10+ years and of the podcast for 3 years. I just finished listening to podcast #469 on friendship and felt compelled to share my story as it relates to Team CBT. Three years ago, my 23 year-old son entered a 90 day inpatient rehabilitation center for a marijuana addiction followed by 1 1/2 years in a sober living facility. Six months into his recovery, I reached out to Dr. Daniel Hermann, a Team CBT level 4 therapist. At that time, my son's progress had been steady yet I was still suffering greatly. One of many thoughts that contributed to my suffering was that my friends couldn't understand what I was going through. Although I have been fortunate to have had many wonderful friendships for 30+ years, Although I was open with my friends about my struggles, I generally didn't feel they understood what I was going through and I felt isolated. Fortunately, Dr. Herman did not try to convince me that I "needed" these friendships or to be understood to "get through" this difficult time. Instead, he helped me to look at the situation realistically, without distortions. My positive reframe regarding my friends was "I wish I could have felt closer to my friends during this difficult time. However, there are many ways in which I have supported myself and I have found other outside sources of comfort also." I made a very detailed list of the myriad of ways I had supported myself which brought me great comfort and empowerment. I was able to accept that I wasn't feeling as close to my friends as I would have liked, without blaming them or myself. I also let go of my belief that my friends "should" have been able to empathize better with what I was going through. I learned that although I truly value these friendships, if I expect them to mean everything to me in every situation, I will be setting myself up for a lot of suffering. I am so happy that sweet Rhonda had those strong friendships to help her during such a dark time. She is very fortunate! Since Rhonda had a change of heart during the podcast, the following comments are based on her beliefs at the beginning of the podcast: that the support of her friends is a need and that she could not have "gotten through" her treatments without it. Did Rhonda mean that she would have not sought cancer treatment, the treatments would have been ineffective, or that she would have ended her life without the support of her friends? Would she have told a client of hers in a similar situation that she needed to focus all her time and effort on developing meaningful friendships rather than treating her cancer because friendship was the true need? Obviously, I don't believe she would have and am glad that she had a change of heart regarding this belief. Thank you all for your wonderful podcasts! Susan The point I was trying to make is that Dr. Hermann himself did not appear to believe in these self-defeating beliefs, contrary to public opinion. This was essential to me coming to the same conclusions. (To be clear, he NEVER told me what to believe lol. I was paying him but I did all the work! Frustrating at times but coming to my own conclusions was the only way to internalize these messages.) Zhang asks: I have intrusive daydreams and obsess about getting things perfect? What's causing this? And what can I do? Dear Dr. Burns, Thank you so much for your kind and prompt reply. I truly appreciate you taking the time to direct me to the additional resources on your website—I have found them and am already finding them very helpful. Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in responding. The beginning of the new semester has kept me quite occupied, and I have only now found a moment to write to you properly. I am writing to you again because I have been struggling with some persistent challenges and was hoping I might ask for your guidance. Lately, I often find myself distracted by vivid, intrusive daydreams—I create elaborate imaginary stories or visualize worst-case scenarios, such as natural disasters. In addition, I have developed what feels like an obsessive need to keep my books in perfect condition. Even minor wear causes me significant anxiety, and I find it difficult to stop thinking about it if I cannot repair the damage. These thoughts and behaviors are beginning to affect my daily life, and I was wondering if you might have any advice or suggested resources that could help me better understand and manage them. Thank you once again for your generosity and support. Your work has already made a profound difference in my life. Warm regards, Zhang David's response Thanks, Zhang. There are many methods and ideas in When Panic Attacks, my book on anxiety. In particular, the Hidden Emotion Technique might interest you. If you are in the US, there is a class on it in the Feeling Great app, which is free until the end of September, so move fast. Also, I would like to include this as an Ask David, if that's okay. Can use your first name, or a fake name. Best, david Yevhen asks: How can I use "I Feel" Statements without oversharing? Hello Dr. Burns, Rhonda, and Matt, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for the remarkable work you're doing in the field of TEAM-CBT. Your books and your voice of reason have been an immense help to me in some of the most difficult times. Dr Burns, I always feel amazed hearing your wisdom and patience each time you explain the concepts. Even those concepts that were explained before. Additionally, thank you Dr Burns, Rhonda and Matt, for the exceptional Feeling Good podcast you host. Each new episode is a highlight of my week and nearly always offers profound insight and encouragement. On a lighter note, I sometimes play your podcast at night when I have trouble sleeping. It really helps me drift off within 20-30 minutes

Dr. Wilner would love your feedback! Click here to send a text! Thanks! Many thanks to Matthew Hermann, MD, a radiologist and Founder of the teleradiology company Right Read MD. Dr. Hermann began his career as a conventional radiologist but soon saw the virtues and opportunities of off-site practice. Now based in Puerto Rico, he leads a team of physicians who provide high-quality radiology care to multiple hospitals. Matt loves Puerto Rico's culture and doesn't object to their low tax rates either! During our 40-minute discussion, Dr. Hermann discussed the potential downsides of conventional telemedicine models. For example, groups that are incentivized solely by productivity, especially those run by private equity companies, may yield suboptimal results. Radiologists working at home can also feel isolated and miss out on learning from colleagues that would occur in a more traditional patient care setting. Dr. Hermann explored whether teleradiology is a good long-term career option. While today's demand is great, it's unclear what the future holds for this type of medical service. Dr. Hermann emphasized the hidden value of dedicated on-site radiologists who can develop professional relationships with referring physicians. Relationships between radiologists and surgeons, for example, have proven to influence surgical decision-making. However, when hospitals lack the resources for permanent on-site radiologists, teleradiology becomes a clinically necessary and attractive option. Chart access for teleradiologists, along with a focus on patient care rather than pure productivity, can help mitigate the negatives of operating off-site. Dr. Hermann's company handles licensing and credentialing. He also ensures that radiologists on his team are appropriately compensated. Right Read MD continues to grow.
