There are some out there who deny the existence of spiritual abuse. I've mentioned it before and received quizzical looks and heard replies of “that's not a thing”. Sadly, I've personally experienced it at a very deep level over the course of many years and I know many others who have experienced it as well, so I know all too well that it is a thing.Does it mean that abuses in the church exist on a grand scale? I sure hope not. But just because you've not personally witnessed it or experienced it, doesn't mean it's not a thing.Intro Music Title: Real EstateCreator: Scott HolmesSource: Free Music Archive (https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Scott_Holmes/Corporate__Motivational_Music_2/real-estate)License: CC BY-NC 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/)Outro Music Title: Come and Get ItCreator: Scott HolmesSource: Free Music Archive (https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Scott_Holmes/rock-background-music/come-and-get-it)License: CC BY-NC 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/)Link to Blog: https://eagerfortruth.com/2021/10/21/love-covers-a-multitude-of-sins-but-it-doesnt-sweep-abuses-under-the-rug/Support the show (https://ko-fi.com/angrychristianpodcast)

Recently I saw a social media friend of mine (who also happens to be a pastor) post the following statement:"What are you going to do about your complacent approach to Jesus and His church?"And it got me thinking about the many times I have accused the church body of being too complacent, or apathetic, or disconnected from the Church. Reality is, back then, what I really meant was that they didn't come to church enough. And they didn't volunteer in church programs enough. Or that they so quickly left one church to go to another church. But why is there complacency in the Church and how can we begin to reverse it?Support the show (https://ko-fi.com/angrychristianpodcast)

Everyone has that one neighbor. Maybe in some cases you have more than just the one. But you know what I'm talking about... The neighbor who is completely inconsiderate and rude, cares nothing about what others think and how they might be disturbing their neighbors around them, and when confronted looks at you like you're the one who is being an inconvenience to them. COVID raised a lot of questions about what governments can and can't do in regards to church and worship. Most of the concerns raised, however, come from a place that doesn't fully understand worship and the purpose of the church. Let's talk about that.Support the show (https://ko-fi.com/angrychristianpodcast)

He knew better. He knew teachers would be judged more harshly. He knew that invoking God's name in these abuses was a direct violation of the 4th commandment. The following is a peak behind the curtain at a discussion between the Angry Christian Podcast hosts via Facebook messenger as it relates to the effectiveness of the new Arizona Bill HB 2650 aimed at charging those who get an abortion and those who carry out the abortion procedure with homicide, as well as the effectiveness of other tactics aimed at ending abortion in the United States. In addition to that, I think you'll find an interesting dialogue as Brad and Brian don't actually agree on the issue, and you will see how Christians can discuss a hot topic, disagree, and yet be respectful of one another and still land on opposite sides of a debate. We live in a very politically divided time. Everyone sees the "other side" as the enemy. Conservatives see liberals as enemies and liberals see conservatives as enemies. Neither side seems very willing to work through differences, but instead want to paint with broad strokes and wide brushes the other party. To make matters worse, individuals have come to some conclusion that Jesus would've been a supporter of their party. But, would he? Is Jesus a conservative or a liberal? How about a socialist? Let's talk about that! Support the show (https://ko-fi.com/angrychristianpodcast)
In a time when racial tensions are high, people often want to bring Jesus into it. Not just from a "what would Jesus do" aspect, but also from "What race was Jesus?". Everyone has their own ideas about who Jesus is...but it is important that we actually know who Jesus is, and not just who we would like Him to be. Season 3 is dedicated to exploring the many ways people portray Jesus and comparing that to what the Bible tells us about Jesus. George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and more represent unjust deaths in America that have led to protests and riots across the entire United States. The phrase "I Can't Breathe" was some of the last words George Floyd spoke as he died under the weight of a police officer who had his knee in his neck while 3 other officers watched on and did nothing. "I Can't Breathe" has become the new cry of the black community that has been struggling for as long as American History itself to find their place in society and be heard, seen, and treated equally. On this episode Brad and Brian talk about these events, the protests, the riots, and what it's like to be a black person growing up in America. It's a hard conversation, but a needed one that we hope you'll take the time to listen to.Support the show

The Democrat Debate took place the night we recorded this episode and it got us thinking about some things. Does God have a political party? Is it fair to say "Not My President"? Is it possible to agree with those on the "other side" on various things without supporting their overall political platform? How do we get to a better place in our political discourse? Does the Bible have anything to say about politics? These questions and more we discuss in this episode of the Angry Christian Podcast.Support the show (https://ko-fi.com/angrychristianpodcast)

After watching the western church response to John MacArthur/Beth Moore, Kanye, then Kanye/Joel Osteen, and now Chick-fil-A I can confidently say that the reality is these folks get triggered just as easily as their liberal and millennial counterparts…they just get triggered over different things.Support the show (https://ko-fi.com/angrychristianpodcast)
What do you Kanye West, Beth Moore, and John MacArthur have in common? They are all believers, and their recent actions have sparked a LOT of controversy in the Western Christian world over the last few weeks, and put a bright spotlight on a major issue facing the Church today...the ability to disagree with grace.Intro Music: "Angry Dance" by Simon PanruckerOutro Music: "Yours" by Brad BatesSupport the show
I used to be obsessed in a very unhealthy way with politics. It consumed my thoughts, my actions, my social media, my discussions, my arguments...it very literally consumed everything. It's been an interesting couple of weeks in Western Christianity as we saw the freak out over John MacArthur telling Beth Moore to go home and then a week later Kanye West dropping his gospel album "Jesus is King". In the middle of the commotion an interesting thing was revealed about the state of the American Church...we don't get along. In fact, we're pretty divided along some unfortunate lines.Music: "Special Place" by KetsaSupport the show (https://ko-fi.com/angrychristianpodcast)
The church is a two-sided coin. On one side you have church leaders, and on the other side you have church members. Both sides think they ARE the coin, when in reality they are but one side of the SAME coin. As a result, unity is missing from many of our local churches. Sure, pastors have been guilty of beating the sheep, but the sheep have been guilty of biting the shepherd as well. In this episode, the Angry Christian crew discusses the abuse of church leaders at the hands of the sheep. [Hebrews 13:17 and Ephesians 4] Be sure to check out the accompanying blog post [https://eagerfortruth.com/2019/10/21/dont-bite-the-shepherd/].Intro Music: "Angry Dance" by Simon PanruckerOutro Music: "Yours" by Brad BatesSupport the show (https://ko-fi.com/angrychristianpodcast)
Being the leader in a church is hard work. Church folks can be some of the most frustrating and difficult folks to work with. But, despite their flaws (and our own) and the amount of stress and frustration we may face as church leaders, beating the sheep should never be an option. God doesn't take kindly to it, and we put ourselves in great danger when we ignore this fact and abuse the sheep for personal gain. Unfortunately, it happens more often than we may realize as beating the sheep isn't just a physical act. In this episode we introduce another host of the Angry Christian Podcast (Robert Platt) and explore how easy it is to fall into the angry trap as a church leader.
