828 But Mary Treasured Up All These Things, Pondering Them in Her Heart, A Guided Christian Meditation on Luke 2:19-21 with the Recenter With Christ app The purpose of this podcast is to help you find more peace in  and connect with the true source of peace, Jesus Christ.  Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization.  You can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes. You should hopefully not be driving or anything tense or unrelaxing.  If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes.   Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation:   Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate,  deflate. Scripture for Meditation ESV 19 But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them. 21 And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb. KJV 19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. 21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called Jesus, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. Reflection on Scripture: Mary treasured these things, pondering them in her heart. She felt the kicks of the baby Jesus and her womb carried the Son of God. What amazing things she had to ponder in her heart. Some of it was the experience of bearing Jesus. She also saw heavenly messengers. She received messages that are written and likely had experiences that have not been recorded anywhere but in her heart. Imagine if a short book was written about your life, perhaps a few chapters. Do you think that could possibly reflect everything you thought or experienced?  Restrict it even further. Imagine writing a couple chapters about a vacation. You couldn't even capture everything from a simple human trip to a tourist spot. Imagine now an encounter with the divine. Imagine months and then years with the young Jesus. It is impossible to imagine what she pondered in her heart. What special unique blessings were meant just for her. Imagine her holding the damp child. Imagine her holding him in her arms. The feeling of responsibility resting on her of raising a child and not just any child but the very son of God.  Invariably you have had unique experiences meant just for you. Do we spend time to treasure them in our hearts and ponder them? Take the time now to think of the interactions with God that you have experienced. What ways has He touched your heart? How has God been present in your life? Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm: I invite you to sit in silence feeling patient for your own faults and trials. Summarize what insights you have gained during this meditation and meditate and visualize positive change in your life: This is a listener funded podcast at patreon.com/christianmeditationpodcast Final Question: If you consider the invitation and command to persevere in the faith, what change in your life does that bring to your mind?  FIND ME ON: Download my free app: Recenter with Christ Website - ChristianMeditationPodcast.com Voicemail - (602) 888-3795 Email: jared@christianmeditationpodcast.com Apple Podcasts - Christian Meditation Podcast Facebook.com/christianmeditationpodcast Youtube.com/christianmeditaitonpodcast Twitter - @ChristianMedPod

Why Mormon Fundamentalists Restrict Blacks (Jacob Vidrine 12 of 13)

Many Mormon fundamentalists restrict blacks from joining despite the 1978 revelation that allowed black men to hold the priesthood. This is considered a landmark moment in LDS history, but many in Mormon fundamentalists believe this 1978 revelation marked the moment the mainstream Church lost its essential authority. This theological break, rooted in Brigham Young’s fiery declarations about race and priesthood lineage, is why most fundamentalist groups reject modern LDS temple work. https://youtu.be/Rp-2f0Uxuh4 Don't miss our other conversations with Jacob: https://gospeltangents.com/people/jacob-vidrine Copyright © 2025 Gospel Tangents All Rights Reserved Why Black Priesthood Revelation Nullified Authority for Fundamentalists The 1978 revelation that allowed black men to hold the priesthood is considered a landmark moment in LDS history, but for many in Mormon fundamentalism, this decision marked the moment the mainstream Church lost its essential authority. This theological break, rooted in Brigham Young’s fiery declarations about race and priesthood lineage, is why most fundamentalist groups reject modern LDS temple work. The Conditional Priesthood Restrict Blacks For groups like the Ross LeBaronites and others who separated from the LDS Church, the 1978 revelation essentially nullified the Church's priesthood authority. This perspective relies heavily on an address given by Brigham Young in 1852 to the territorial legislature. In this discourse, Brigham Young articulated a powerful condition for maintaining the priesthood: “If we were to… come and decide that it was right to mingle with the seed of Cain and make them partake of all the blessings that we have then on that day and hour the priesthood is taken from the church and God leaves us to our fate“. Because of Brigham Young’s strong language, many fundamentalists are “very reticent to consider that Brigham could be wrong” about the priesthood ban. Therefore, they view the 1978 revelation as fulfilling the condition for the priesthood being withdrawn. The Temple Barrier The rejection of the 1978 decision has direct implications for temple work. Most fundamentalist groups will not use the LDS Temple because they feel its authority is no longer valid. This view is so central that it applies even to other fundamentalist splinter groups. The Missouri temple, for example, is noted as the only fundamentalist community that has rejected and lifted the racial teachings, but this decision causes most other fundamentalists to have “reservations about using their temple” for the “same reason” they reject the LDS temple. They view the temple authority as having been compromised. Was the Ban Revealed in Nauvoo? While some historians argue that the priesthood ban was a pragmatic decision starting around 1847, possibly catalyzed by incidents involving black men like William McCary and Enoch Lewis—events that prompted Brigham Young to want to put this to a stop. Other evidence suggests the doctrine may have predated the Utah period. For some, it is difficult to accept that Brigham Young “radically depart[ed] from Joseph Smith” and suddenly invented a racist doctrine. Jacob points to historical sources have fueled this debate: Nauvoo Lineage Emphasis: There are indications that an emphasis on lineage and blood connected to priesthood started emerging in Nauvoo. Brigham Young, in 1845, reportedly told the high priests quorum that many elders couldn’t hold the keys of the kingdom until their “blood changes and they become the right lineage”. George Q. Cannon’s Diaries: Diaries released in 2016 or 2017 show that George Q. Cannon discussed the priesthood ban in the 1890s, stating that he was taught the ban as a young boy in Nauvoo by John Taylor, suggesting the restriction was in place earlier than commonly dated. Elijah Abel‘s Restrictions: In June 1843, apostles restricted the preaching of Elijah Abel—a black elder who held the priesthood—to only his “own race”. This belief that the restriction was revealed in Nauvoo allows fundamentalists to reconcile the ban with Joseph Smith's period while maintaining Brigham Young's authority, even if they struggle with the theological implications. The key takeaway for them is that Brigham Young, whether right or wrong about the lineage-based restrictions, was not acting out of hatred or bigotry, but rather out of a form of “benevolent racism”—believing in a lineage-based restriction without personal malicious intent. The result is a complex theological landscape where adherence to what is perceived as the divinely revealed structure of the early Church necessitates the rejection of the mainstream church's post-1978 authority and its ordinances. For more information regarding the beginnings of the ban, check out Dr Paul Reeve's amazing research. Here is a link to Jacob’s paper: TheOriginofthePriesthoodBan. In this insightful conversation originally recorded with dietitian Brittany Braswell on Faith-Filled Food Freedom podcast, I open up about the restrict-binge cycle that keeps so many women trapped—saving calories all day only to overeat at night. This episode dismantles the myth that it's about willpower and reveals the biological and spiritual truths behind this destructive pattern. What You'll Learn Why saving calories backfires: Understanding the biological response to restriction and how scarcity thinking drives the restrict-binge cycle The worthiness wound: How diet culture has taught women they need to earn, ration, and delay food instead of deserving consistent nourishment Lindsey's personal story: Her years-long struggle with anorexia and calculating every meal, and how she found freedom Practical action steps: Four concrete strategies to start eating earlier in the day and breaking the restrict-binge pattern Identity in Christ: How knowing you're fearfully and wonderfully made changes how you treat your body as a temple Key Takeaways ✨ The restrict-binge cycle is biological, not about willpower - When you don't eat enough during the day, your body forces a response ✨ Scarcity thinking is rooted in worthiness issues - Diet culture has taught us food must be earned, rationed, and controlled rather than something we deserve consistently ✨ Comfort isn't the goal, freedom is - Breaking the cycle requires doing uncomfortable opposite actions ✨ Ask yourself: Is this decision from fear or love? - If you're making food choices out of fear, that's a signal to do the opposite ✨ You are fearfully and wonderfully made - Your identity is larger than the vessel you came here with Practical Strategies Discussed 1. Combat the Lie of Unworthiness Recognize you are deserving of good things NOW, not later Your worth is tied to being made in God's image—period Feelings aren't facts when you feel undeserving 2. Set New Non-Negotiables Create mechanical eating boundaries (2-3 meals + snacks) regardless of hunger cues Commit to eating 1-2 hours earlier than your current pattern Make a specific plan: What time? What food? Write it down. 3. Do the Opposite Action When the voice says "wait until later," immediately do the opposite Rewire your brain by not taking orders from "Regina George" anymore Break the rules that keep you trapped—the world won't fall apart 4. Start with Half Portions Earlier If eating a full meal earlier feels overwhelming, start with half Build consistency with small steps, not overnight overhauls Change happens with consistent small actions 5. Get Logical About Time Challenge arbitrary eating times—it's already mealtime somewhere else in the world Do the hard thing first to get it out of the way Make concrete plans, not optional intentions Powerful Quotes "You were created by God, made in His image, and you are so worthy of love and nourishment—period. There's no arguing, no bargaining about that." "Comfort isn't the goal. Freedom is the goal." "Your body deserves consistent fuel. What would I tell my daughter, my best friend, you over coffee? I would never tell you that you can't have that coffee because there's cream in it." "Is this decision coming from a place of fear or a place of love? If it's fear, pluck that thought." "God's grace is built from abundance. Your identity is something larger than the vessel that you came here with." Key Questions for Reflection What am I believing that is false? What do I know is true when I'm feeling I don't deserve nourishment? What rules am I following that I need to break? Am I making this decision out of fear or out of love? It's Wednesday, October 8th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark 88 countries restrict Bible access The Bible Access Initiative released a list of nations where access to the Bible is restricted. Eighty-eight countries have at least some restrictions on Bible access. The country with the most extreme restrictions is Somalia followed by Afghanistan, Yemen, and North Korea.  The Bible Access List noted, “Bible access in Somalia is not just limited; it is outlawed. Under a strict interpretation of Sharia law, it is illegal to print, import, store, or distribute Bibles.” Many of the countries with the worst restrictions are Muslim-majority nations governed by Sharia law. In 2 Timothy 2:8-9, the Apostle Paul reminds us, “Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound!” 20,000 Canadian pro-lifers stood in Life Chain An estimated 20,000 pro-lifers joined Canada's 35th annual Life Chain on Sunday. Participants took the streets across hundreds of cities in Canada. They held pro-life signs along roadways and prayed for the end of abortion. Josie Luetke with the Campaign Life Coalition told LifeSiteNews, “You see longtime, elderly activists with their walkers and lawn chairs and families with young kids running around. Life Chain is really a group effort . . . and it is a joy to see the entire pro-life movement united in this cause on this one day.” 30% of Canadian 11 to 13-year-olds open to church if invited Speaking of Canada, youth evangelism ministry OneHope released a report on the spiritual state of Generation Alpha in the country. The study covered young people between the ages of 11-13.  Forty-nine percent of respondents identified as Christian, 35% as non-religious, and 16% as other religions. Only 27% of Gen Alpha Christians qualified as committed Christians through Biblical beliefs and regular prayer and Bible reading.   Among non-religious teens, 30% said they would be open to attending a Christian church service if a friend invited them.  Trump eager to cut billions in waste and abuse during shutdown In the United States, the federal government shutdown continues as funding proposals from Republicans and Democrats keep failing in the Senate.  Democrats are withholding support for a funding bill unless it extends Obamacare subsidies. Republicans want to deal with the issue later in the year. President Donald Trump said he wants to use the shutdown to cut billions of dollars of waste, fraud and abuse.  Listen.  TRUMP: “Because of the shutdown, which I think they made a big mistake, we're able to take out billions and billions of dollars of waste, fraud and abuse. And they've handed it [to us] on a silver platter. Elon Musk: Cancel your NetFlix subscription over transgender shows Tech billionaire Elon Musk is echoing recent calls for people to cancel their Netflix subscriptions over immoral programming for children.  He posted on X last Wednesday, “Cancel Netflix for the health of your kids”.  The shares of Netflix dropped nearly 5% over the course of last week. The recent trend to cancel Netflix resulted from conservative voices exposing Netflix for pushing transgender shows on children.  More Americans perceive having kids as a blessing Pew Research released a new report showing that more people view having children as a good thing for America. Fifty-three percent of U.S. adults say that if more people choose not to have children, it will have a negative impact on the country. That percentage is up from 47% last year. Only 20% of respondents said that people choosing not to have children would be positive for America.  Among men, 59% said fewer people having children would have a negative impact. Among women, that number fell to 48%. Anniversary of William Tyndale's death for translation Bible into English And finally, this week is the anniversary of William Tyndale's death, traditionally commemorated on October 6. Tyndale faced arrest and later death in 1536 for alleged heresy. However, he had worked tirelessly to translate the Bible into English. It was his devotion to Scripture that brought him into conflict with church and civil leaders. In response to an assertion of the supremacy of the Pope, Tyndale famously said, “I defy the Pope and all his laws; and if God spares my life, ere many years, I will cause the boy that driveth the plow to know more of the Scriptures than thou dost!” Copies of Tyndale's translation were smuggled into England by the thousands. His work would form the basis of the Great Bible, edited by Miles Coverdale. It made its way into every parish church just three years after Tyndale's death. Isaiah 52:7 says, “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns.'” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, October 8th, in the year of our Lord 2025, my bride Amy's 49th birthday. It's Wednesday, September 24th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Chinese Communists restrict Christian online content Bitter Winter Magazine reports that Communist officials in China published new rules last week to significantly restrict religious content online. The religious liberty magazine noted, “It effectively criminalizes spontaneous religious expression online, isolates clergy from global religious discourse, and places sacred speech under the watchful eye of state censors.” The regulations allow only registered religious organizations to post preaching and religious education online. Clergy must promote socialist values. And they are specifically prohibited from evangelizing young people, reports China Aid.  But, in Matthew 19:14, Jesus said “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of Heaven.” Hungary to designate Antifa a terrorist group Hungary plans on designating Antifa as a terrorist organization following the example of the United States.  Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán recently told state media, “Antifa is a terrorist organization. . . . They have come to Hungary, beaten peaceful people in the streets, beaten some half to death.” This comes after U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday, designating Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization. Trump wrote on Truth Social, “I am designating ANTIFA, A SICK, DANGEROUS, RADICAL LEFT DISASTER, AS A MAJOR TERRORIST ORGANIZATION. I will also be strongly recommending that those funding ANTIFA be thoroughly investigated.” Man guilty of Trump assassination attempt tries to stab himself in court Ryan Routh, the madman who holed up in a sniper's nest with an assault rifle at President Trump's West Palm Beach golf club, tried to stab himself with a pen in a Florida courtroom Tuesday after he was convicted of attempting to assassinate the then-GOP nominee, reports the New York Post. The jury noted the 17 “reconnaissance” trips he allegedly made to Trump's golf course, and what they described as his excessive stalking of Trump, prior to the September 15, 2024 incident in question. A dramatic scene unfolded as jurors were leaving the courtroom when Routh took a pen and started trying to jab himself in the neck. Courtroom marshals sprung to action and dragged him out of the room as his daughter, Sara Routh, screamed at her father. She yelled, “Dad I love you. Don't do anything. I'll get you out. He didn't hurt anybody.” There is no video footage of Ryan Routh attempting to stab himself with the pen because cameras were not allowed in the courtroom. A few minutes later, Routh was brought back into the courtroom with shackles on. He wasn't wearing the jacket and tie from earlier and his white shirt didn't show signs of blood. The judge set his sentencing date for December 18, where he will face up to life in prison. Trump rebuked globalism and open borders at United Nations U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly yesterday. President Trump rebuked globalism, unchecked migration, open borders, and climate change activism. Listen. TRUMP: “The entire globalist concept of asking successful industrialized nations to inflict pain on themselves and radically disrupt their entire societies must be rejected completely and totally. And it must be immediate. That's why in America, I withdrew from the fake Paris Climate Accord.” He also called for the protection of religious liberty. TRUMP: “Together, let us defend free speech and free expression. Let us protect religious liberty, including for the most persecuted religion on the planet today. It's called Christianity.” HHS announced review of abortion kill pill LifeNews reports the U.S. Health and Human Services Department is launching a national review of the abortion kill pill mifepristone.  HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. accused the Biden administration of downplaying serious complications of the dangerous drug. Obviously, it is used in the killing of unborn babies. Not surprisingly, it is also linked with serious complications for pregnant women. These include hemorrhage, emergency room visits, and sepsis.  Proverbs 24:11-12 says, “Deliver those who are drawn toward death, and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, ‘Surely we did not know this,' does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?” CDC no longer recommending MMRV shot for toddlers The vaccine advisory committee for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention adopted new recommendations for the child immunization schedule last Thursday.  In an 8-3 vote, the committee voted to no longer recommend the MMRV vaccine for toddlers. The combination shot is for measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella. Instead, the committee recommended a standalone vaccine for varicella, also known as chickenpox, and another shot for the other three infections.    The committee noted increased risk of seizures among toddlers who received the MMRV vaccine.  Most religious state is Mississippi; Least religious state is Vermont Pew Research released data on the religiosity of states in America. The most religious state was Mississippi with 50% of adults expressing a high degree of religiosity. Next up was South Carolina, South Dakota, Louisiana, and Tennessee. The least religious state was Vermont with only 13% of adults expressing a high degree of religiosity. Other states with people of low religiosity were New Hampshire, Maine, Nevada, and Oregon.  Religiosity was measured based on importance of religion, religious attendance, frequency of prayer, and belief in God.  73% of Americans now feel safe in their town And finally, a new survey from Gallup found that more people than ever feel safe where they live despite the rise in conflicts between countries.  Gallup's Global Safety Report found 73% of adults worldwide said they feel safe walking alone at night in their city or area. That's up from 65% in 2006. Feelings of safety are increasing but remain relatively low in sub-saharan Africa and Latin America. The region with the most dramatic increase in feelings of safety since 2006 is post-Soviet Eurasia.  Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, September 24th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Follow us on X or subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music, or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com). Episode 208: For years, experts and parents alike have debated how to get children off their devices. Limiting screen time, blocking apps and setting stricter household rules are common strategies. But what if the problem isn’t the technology itself but the loss of freedom to simply be a kid? Hosts Richard Kyte and Scott Rada look at a revealing report from The Atlantic that asked children directly how they would spend less time online. The most common response was not more rules or stricter discipline — it was more unstructured play with friends, free from constant supervision. The answers highlight a cultural shift. Over the past several decades, the independence once common for children — riding bikes across town, walking to the corner store or wandering through a local park — has steadily disappeared. Parents often cite safety concerns, and social norms reinforce the idea that letting kids roam is risky. Yet statistics show that many communities are actually safer today than in past generations. The episode raises an uncomfortable possibility: children are not “addicted” to screens so much as they are starved for spaces where they can make choices and explore without adults hovering nearby. Smartphones, for all their flaws, offer at least the perception of autonomy. They allow young people to connect, interact and discover on their own terms — even if those experiences are shaped by algorithms.

Tomorrow, the Las Vegas City Council will consider a bill that puts new restrictions on e-bikes and e-scooters, including a ban along the Fremont Street Experience — echoing recent measures by Henderson and Clark County (which banned the devices from the Strip). This comes as deaths on e-bikes and e-scooters have doubled this year. Las Vegas Weekly staff writer Tyler Schneider joins co-host Sarah Lohman to talk about why the devices are getting deadlier, and what solutions are out there. Want to get in touch? On the flip side ‘stabilizing' wear like well-designed bras and compressive garments can make movement more comfortable for certain activities. Katy offers advice on how to dress for multiple scenarios: the movement that you plan to do, the spontaneous movements that you might want to do, as well as all the other things you need to do in a day. Also in this episode Katy speaks with Mira Fannin of Sweet Skins. Sweet Skins produce beautiful hemp-cotton organic clothing. Katy and Mira talk about the origin of Sweet Skins and how Mira's goal to make cute and liveable clothes for busy women has created the perfect movement-friendly clothing line.
