To Teach them what the Bible says about them and who they have been made to be in the promises of God's Word. This changed my life years ago and completely transformed me from a person full of doubt, fear and unbelief to a strong confident Christian that knows I can do anything through Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. And I'm determined to teach the world what God has taught and commissioned me to teach and that is His Word. That commission takes me to jails and detention centers weekly along with other open doors at many churches and ministries that are wanting to teach these important truths to the world. My podcast goes out 6 days a week to help the people I am ministering to grow in the truths that God has taught me for many years now. Whenyou read the Old Testament, it mainly is about the covenant promises and thework of God amongst the Jewish nation. The Jewish nation was called of God, setapart for Him and by Him for a specific purpose. That purpose was to make knownto the world that you can know God, the true and the living God, the creatorGod, the only God. And the only way you can know and experience Him is byfaith. That's what the life of Abraham teaches us as you study both the Old andthe New Testament. He not only is the father of the Jewish nation he is thefather of the faithful. This includes both Jew and Gentile who come toexperience God by faith. (Read Romans 4 and Galatians 3). Theonly way we can learn about God, that we can know God, that we can begin tounderstand and comprehend God, is by faith. The writer of Hebrews made thisclear in Hebrews 11.TheJewish nation was chosen to be an example, to be an illustration, to be atestimony to the world that there is a creator God that wants us to know Him.God revealed Himself to Abraham and the Jews in various ways. As the people ofGod they gave us His written revelation, the Word of God, the Bible, God's holyinspired word and they also give us the Savior, Jesus Christ the Messiah. Godhad this specific purpose for them. But as you know, as you study both the Old and New Testament and Jewish history, they failmiserably and rejected Jesus. But God already in eternity past had anotherplan. That plan was the church, the called out assembly, the body of JesusChrist. Inthe Old Testament, the church was a mystery, a sacred mystery. It was not knownbefore. That's why Paul was writing here in these verses. In verse 5 he writes:"Which in other ages, was not made known to the sons of men, as it has nowbeen revealed by the spirit to His holy apostles and prophets." Now, myfriend, we've got to understand something. You know, it's been 2,000 yearssince the Apostle Paul was writing to this church at Ephesus and explaining tothem how as Gentiles, they are now in the body of Christ. They now can bereconciled to the Jewish people and be partaker of the promises with them. Thatwas a new thing, a brand new thing. Nowtoday, after 2,000 years of history, we have churches on every corner inAmerica, churches all over the world, a church everywhere. And I'm afraid thatwe take the church for granted. You can go down any Sunday morning in Americaand walk into a church building and become a member of that church by goingforward professing Christ as your Savior, following the Lord in believer'sbaptism and you're part of that church. We take it for granted that we can be apart of the body of Christ. NowPaul is telling the folks there at Ephesus, this is a mystery. It's now beingrevealed. So it was important to Paul because he knew he was a steward of thismystery. That was the dispensationgiven to him, the stewardship given to him to make sure that the body ofbelievers, the Gentiles and the Jews alike knew that anyone could be a part ofthe body of Jesus Christ by faith through the cross, by faith in Hisresurrection, by faith. Todayyou and I become a part of the body of Christ, and we can now exercisestewardship and ministry and have the hope and the peace and the joy that comesfrom belonging to the body of Christ and being a part of that fellowship ofbelievers. How wonderful is that? I'm telling you, it's awesome. It is importantthat you also understand that the church, the body of Christ is so very special,just like His body was special on earth physically when He was here. Jesus wentto heaven in that body, but today He gave us the opportunity to be a member ofHis body the church. He is the head we're the members, and we're members one ofanother. We have different functions and activities and gifts in the church,but we belong to His church. Myfriend, what a great privilege! Don't take it for granted!!!!
Paul reminds us that it is by the Spirit you have been freed from your sinful flesh, found as adopted sons of God whom you now call Abba! Father!, and have been made co-heirs with Christ by the fellowship of his suffering for the fruit of eternal glory with him.

Imagine you're an heir to billions of dollars. What comes to mind? "[A]nd if children, then heirs - heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him." Romans 8:17 ESV I came to this passage thinking about being an heir with Jesus. It was really a cool devotional time as I thought about this. He owns everything, and I'm an heir to that fortune. I spend too much time obsessing about money. For others it may be your health, or your comfort, or a hobby or another person. We can think about things to excess. My obsession is rooted in this fear. The most common command in scripture is "Fear not!" When I can focus on being a fellow heir with Jesus, the tension surrounding my fear dissipates. I'm free to get back to work. Jesus has a job for me. Whatever I'm whining about has already been factored in. That includes my own failures and my own incompetence. God chose you and me. He knows us better than we know ourselves. And he has a job for us. In and on the other side of that job is great blessing, peace, ease and joy. So when I start whining to God, I often like to think that he says, "Mike, what are you whining about? Just get back to work and I'll take care of everything else." Think for a moment what it means to inherit your situation for all eternity from the Almighty God and Creator of the universe. What's God saying to you today? How does he want you to show up and serve others simply because you trust him today? What's stopping you? As Christians, we need to fully understand the blessings and promises we inherit by being fellow heirs with each other AND with Christ! What are these blessings? How do we step into them? By believing what the Bible says about them! Discussion Questions 1. Have you ever viewed yourself as adopted? What positives/benefits that you can think of are involved with adoption? 2. "Fellow Heirs" inherently uses language that refers to family. What are some of the blessings we have access to now that we are heirs? Are any of these familial/communal? 3. What was the hostility that previously kept us from being sons of God and brothers with one another? What are some consequences of said hostility? (Jesus was so passionate about this, that He literally had to KILL it with its consequences!) 4. What things come to mind when thinking about the "full promise of Christ"? Do you live in it fully? Explain your answer.

It has a meaning of discipleship, a pattern to follow. Literally it means to follow in the footsteps. Peter's use of Isaiah 53 Heb 9:28 uses the same word as 1 Peter 2:24, anaphero (bare/bore) Isaiah 53 and Atonement Conclusions Slaves (and all believers) are to be like Jesus displaying an attitude in suffering that does not fight back, knowing that through their suffering they may bring healing to the ones causing the suffering. And when one suffers unjustly, we know that God is a just judge who will do righteousness because he is the protector of our souls. 1 Peter 3:1-6- Believing wives and unbelieving husbands Unbelieving husbands and submission Adornment Abraham and Sarah Conclusion o A major take away is that all 3 of these examples (empire, slaves, and patriarchal household codes) were structures of human making. None of them are ordained by God. Christians might be called to endure this as they lived in these societies, but these structures were never said to be set forth by God in the Bible. o The Christian response to all of these structures were to live as witnesses and let the power of the Spirit change those who were in power. If these witnesses won over their governors, masters, husbands then we'd see the transforming power of God take place in the systems. God is not interested in “baptized” versions of these systems. 1 Peter 3:7- Believing husbands and wives Weaker body, vessel, person o Skeuos- does it mean body, vessel, or person? Fellow Heirs in Grace Your Prayers will not be hindered

What does it mean to be a "fellow heir" with Israel and part of "the commonwealth of Israel"? There's a right way and a wrong way to interpret Paul's analogies. We've tried the wrong way before. You are an heir and partaker of all the promises of Christ! We are familiar with this revelation of the mystery of Christ, but it was not so in Paul’s day – the revelation that Gentiles are fellow-heirs with Jews, part of the same Body, and partakers of the same Promises in Christ through the Gospel, was absolutely new, vv5-6. Gentiles – fellow-heirs with the Jews! The same Body as the Jews! Partakers with the Jews of the Promises in Christ which are revealed through the Gospel! Of which Paul was made a minister, by a gift of Grace, given him by the effectual working of God’s Power, v7! The gift that made Paul a minister of the Gospel to the Gentiles was a gift given from God through the working of the Holy Spirit.
To the original audience, the New Testament's instructions to wives were seen as affirming and empowering. While cultural context has changed dramatically, the affirmation of a woman's worth remains. To be a servant of Jesus Christ means a willingness to obey Jesus your Master, Savior, and Lord in all things and at all times. Paul suffered much so that we who are gentiles could hear the Gospel and have the mystery explained of how we can be united to Jesus Christ through faith and by God's grace. Christ is our everything! Let us also be willing to pick up our cross and follow our Master Jesus! Amen!
