Every year our senior leader, Alex Rettmann, takes time to pray and think about a word that might give an aim for the coming year. This year that word is depth.  In an age where the Church is thought of as a place to help you realize your project self, we want to put front and center, the Cross.   The Cross calls to us, come and die, lay down your life and trust only in Jesus. When we answer the call of the Cross, we can receive the power of the Cross - a life of otherworldly triumph and miracles.   It requires depth and maturity to recognize that we live by faith in a world of brokenness, while also living with the possibility of heaven on earth.  Thank you Jesus for the Cross.

This last Sunday our senior leader, Alex Rettmann cast some vision for us as we enter the new year. We are invited to live a Kingdom life, not just a Christian life. Jesus didn't just come to get you into heaven, He came to get heaven into you, so that heaven would come through you. This is the mission God has set out from the creation of the world and when you are on this mission with Him, life isn't boring. Our strategy to live this Kingdom life on offer cannot be one of lack. We must put Him as our goal rather than checking the temperature of everything around us to determine our course of action. He will make you a thermostat who changes everyone else's course. Like Jesus, we limit the activity of our life to only what we see the Father doing. A strategic choice of dependence, to step into more of his goodness. That's what we're after this year.

2022 The Year of Why

Saints' Hill Church Podcast

This last Sunday we kicked off the New Year with a message from Alex Rettmann on where we're headed this year as a church family. At the beginning of every year we take time to ask what God might be saying over us as a church specifically for the coming year. What we felt collectively was that 2022 will be the year of why. We believe that the best way to get ready for the new thing God is doing is to ask why a lot. We need to ask why about many of the things we do and believe in order to discover if we have any old wineskins that just won't suffice for the new wine He intends to pour out (Mark 2v18-22). There are two things specifically that we want to focus in on: our theology and our methods. We must ask ourselves questions about our theology to make sure Christ is the main thing. There is a danger of drifting from what the church was supposed to be when we emphasize and celebrate things that Jesus neither emphasized or celebrated. “Open my eyes to see and understand what is major to you Jesus; may my life be about You and not a philosophy.” We ask ourselves questions about our methods to make sure family remains the metaphor of our church. Saints' Hill exists to increase relationship between you and God. It isn't a business or a social club…it is first a place to meet God, to remember your first love. Everything else flows from that and won't be programmed by us. The church is only as valid as it is effective in doing what Jesus did. In the coming year, may God give us a value for the wine, for more wine. May He grant us wisdom to know where we need new wineskins this year.

This last Sunday we heard from Alex Rettmann on what the journey of discipleship looks like for the believer. The journey is one of breakthrough and process. The process of discipleship is about becoming a child again through the exchanging of fear for freedom through seeing God accurately. It's a happy journey of glory to glory - walking in the delight of a paid for reality with a father who celebrates all growth no matter how small, and whose aim is that we get more fruit and get more joy.  When we see Him clearly, we begin to change from love instead of fear. God's goals for us are not a moral standard but a free relationship that destroys fear.  All our fear, conquered by all His love...to make us more fruitful and full of joy. Blessings!

Since the beginning we see that it is our agreement with the serpent that empowers hell on earth. The essence of spiritual warfare is all about what you think. This is why there is the invitation to daily have our minds renewed by The Lord. This past Sunday, Alex Rettmann continued with Part 3 in the Spiritual Warfare series. We are reminded that a major part of spiritual warfare has to do with ourselves! - Sin and The Flesh. Therefore, Alex walks us through Ephesians Chapter 6 to show us we are more than equipped to fight this spiritual battle! The chapter tells us its our job to resist the enemy with Truth! - Lastly, Alex leads us through the book of Romans to show us that sin and the flesh have been dealt with through the work of Jesus Christ. We are dead to sin and slaves to righteousness! - So take a firm stand against darkness and ask yourself today - Which voice are you listening to? - For us today we can see two major voices are wealth and politics. So, in other words what are you “taking and then eating?” What is truly pleasing to the eyes of our heart? May it be his thoughts and his voice over our lives. Be strong and courageous! Blessings!

Focusing on the Abraham and Isaac story in Genesis 22, Alex Rettmann challenges us with the “test” we see in the scriptures and in our lives - “do you love God for God or do you love Him for what He does for you?” This test requires us to step back and look at what we have done with what He has given us - to realize that our virtue does not come from earthly blessing but from surrender. This message invites us to loosen our grips and surrender to God, to see the brevity of life and live with abandon to the God we can trust, the God who did not even hold His Son from us. May we be a people who, like Abraham, pass the test - who love God for God and see the transformation of surrender.

This week Alex Rettmann proposed the question: What is the good life? - Philosophers have been asking this question for ages, but what is the answer for a disciple of Jesus? Does it come from the pursuit of understanding, morals, or even Justice? Yes in part, but on each of those routes we must be aware of any false gospels that could be attached to those life pursuits. More importantly the path towards "The Good Life" for believers is all about "Kingdom Partnership" - A supernatural powerful life filled with the Holy Spirit and partnering with Jesus to expand Eden on Earth once again.      Be encouraged! Being a part of Saints Hill looks like “being a big person” - Someone that fully lives out the Finished Work of The Cross and applies Jesus’ blood over every aspect of life. Where we lack nothing and can walk out, what Alex shared is the “in and out” lifestyle. Where we live to be “in” the presence of God and carry that “out” to our community/families. - One practical way we see family revival sustained is through biblical confrontation.
