Have you ever heard the phrase, “if it's not measured, it cannot be improved”? I want to apply that to our walk with God. This occurred to me again as I was thinking about smugerals, a term I invented for west coast Liberals who continually vote for policies that are evidently destroying their cities. Smugerals are completely unaffected by the policies they allow to be enacted and are completely unaware that those policies are actually causing the ruin. Those same people are brilliant at running businesses according to KPI's. They collect the data and apply it to business, biotech, and finance. If they simply run the numbers they would see that the policies they support are ruining their cities, but they won't. This leads me to the question, is there a way for us to have a KPI focused tracking of our faith walk? I think there is. Galatians 5:22-23 and 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 provide a great basis for this conclusion. I will explain why I think this and how I think we can have a KPI approach to tracking our spiritual growth. Therefore, the military lifestyle is ALL they know. While their birth certificates are part of their origin story, if you ask them where they are from, they will quickly answer, “everywhere.”  East coast to west coast and now with two duty stations in foreign countries, our family motto is “home is where we are together.”    Becoming a wife and mother in a lifestyle that was unchartered territory for me has been both thrilling and humbling. There are many days when I cannot believe that this is my life, as it is such a departure from the small town where I grew up. The challenges I've faced have challenged everything I know. Through the highs and lows, from every address, my experience as a military spouse and mother has been my greatest adventure and accomplishment. I have found personal joy and a creative outlet in sharing our story and experiences in the hopes that it stands as a way for us to relate to others, as well as an opportunity to virtually take our family and friends along with us. Then I guess we all must be dead. or our heartbeat does not matter. A person's right under the Constitution to choose to obtain an abortion prior to fetal viability is well established. Please research for yourself:  However, The Bible does in fact command Christians to “submit … to the governing authorities” (Romans 13:1) and to pray “for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (I Timothy 2:2).  These words even more striking when we realize that Paul penned them during the reigns of the Roman emperors Nero and Caligula, two of the worst tyrants known to history. The point is clear. If we can do so without denying Christ or compromising our faith, we must always strive to cooperate with the ruling powers. That does not necessarily mean that we will endorse all their policies or approve of every specific action they take. If you are an independent, you get to take your pick. But even here, we are forgetting something really important. Remember something Abraham Lincoln said to a generation of Americans:It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us—that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain—that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that government: of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.That last line rings down through time. And it serves to remind us that if we need someone to blame, someone to be angry toward, we really ought to look in the mirror. Blame congress, blame the president, if you must, for they were asleep at the switch. But we really ought to blame ourselves for putting them there. The Dominican Republic Celebrates their independence on February 27th. In this episode we celebrate. The Dominican Republic occupies the eastern 2 thirds of Hispaniola the second largest island of the greater Antilles. It's culture is a mix of European, African and Taino. The languages spoken are Spanish the official language as well as creole English, Haitian creole and Samana English.
