This week on the Oakley Podcast, Jeremy Kellett sits with Michael and Leslie Hopper, a husband-and-wife team at Oakley Trucking, to share their late-career transition into trucking and eventual success as owner-operators. They walk through Michael's move from multi-unit management and daycare operations and Leslie's 31-year restaurant career into trucking in their late 40s, starting with carriers like Werner, Tyson, U.S. Xpress, and FedEx Custom Critical before buying their own trucks and ultimately landing at Oakley. The Hoppers explain how teaming works day vs. night, how they became a top revenue truck pulling an end dump, why they're now moving to pneumatics for longer miles and higher pay, and how trucking allowed them to buy a home, build retirement, and support a large blended family. Their key message: it's never too late to reinvent yourself, owner-operator trucking can be a powerful path to financial freedom, and companies like Oakley can make the leap from company driver to business owner much more achievable. Key topics in today's conversation include: Welcoming the Hoppers to the Show (0:42) Leslie's Restaurant Career and First Talk of Trucking (6:09) Michael's Corporate and Daycare Management Background (9:17) How They Met, First Date, and Long-Distance Relationship (13:18) Convincing Leslie to Change Careers and Go to Truck School (16:44) Training Together at U.S. Xpress and Becoming a Team (18:23) Why Teaming Works for Them, Day vs Night Driving, and Resets (23:44) Taking the Leap to Owner Operator and Early Panic With No Loads (26:35) Running FedEx Custom Critical and Department of Defense Freight (29:59) Leaving FedEx, Short Hazmat Stop, and Choosing Oakley (33:17) Deadheading, Emergency Loads, and Being a Top Revenue Truck (36:27) Leslie's Social Media, Oakley Community, and Dump Video Followers (41:01) Buying Their House on Five Acres And Building Late-Life Retirement (44:02) Moving From End Dump to Pneumatic and Chasing Higher Rates (47:32) Why It's Not Too Late to Start Trucking at 50 and Thrive (52:39) Oakley Trucking is a family-owned and operated trucking company headquartered in North Little Rock, Arkansas. We are kicking off season 7 AGAIN. Life has a way of pulling us in a hundred different directions. Before we know it, the very things God called us to do can end up sitting on the back burner while we pour into everyone and everything else.In this episode, I'm getting real about where I've been, why I've been inconsistent, and what I've learned during the process. This is not a story about perfection. It's a reminder that God's grace is bigger than our mistakes, missed opportunities, and moments of disobedience. If you've ever started something and stopped, felt discouraged by your lack of consistency, struggled with guilt, or wondered if you've missed your moment, this conversation is for you. Sometimes we spend so much time beating ourselves up that we forget God is simply calling us to get back up and keep going.Just Breathe, It's Not Too Late is an honest conversation about extending yourself grace, trusting God's timing, and remembering that purpose doesn't expire because of a setback. The assignment is still the assignment. The calling is still the calling.Take a breath. Let go of the guilt. Get back in position. It's not too late. #RadicalTalksWithTiaDarcel #JustBreathe #ItsNotTooLate #GiveYourselfGrace #CalledNotCancelled #GetBackUp #WalkInPurpose #TrustGod #FaithTalks

We welcome author and academic Joanna Williams to discuss glaring cultural shifts in Britain, including attacks on national symbols, the repurposing of churches, constraints on free speech, and efforts to "decolonize" history and curriculum. How do these developments connect to broader concerns for the United States, and why is it important that we continue to push for renewed civic engagement, defense of Western cultural heritage, and protection of free expression? https://youtu.be/nzWe9M6kW30?si=9W3WaEUmFv8eo6aC I was racing to the Emergency Room… If you will allow me to be real and transparent, it felt over. I thank God every day that my son was revived. And I also know some families do not get that outcome. I'm sharing this story because I know what it feels like… when it feels too late. Welcome to Easter at Redemption Church. We are glad you are here. You heard one of the darkest stories of my life. I know We all have dark stories. Stories where it felt too late. Your stories may be present… Groceries and gas are up. Paychecks are the same. Debt feels permanent. A lost job, or hours got cut. Unstable. Health is trending the wrong way Relationship disasters A cold marriage Anxiety is constant, and exhaustion is real. Regret is heavy, and self-forgiveness feels impossible. It feels too late. “Too late” starts deciding Too late does not just describe how you feel. It starts deciding what you do. You stop trying. You stop asking for help. You stop praying with expectation. You stop believing anything can change. And that's the problem with too late – it sounds like a conclusion. The end of the story…“Game over man… game over…” But Easter is not game over…The resurrection shows us that Jesus does not do dead ends. Let's go to John 20 to learn about the 1st Easter. John 20 says Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark. She was not headed to Church service, but a tomb. She was not rejoicing, but morning. The first Easter morning – and nobody is expecting a miracle. Nobody woke up thinking today is the day everything changes.Nobody showed up with faith that, Jesus is about to rise. It felt over. Mary was coming to visit a dead body. Mary sees the stone rolled away.“Praise the Lord Jesus is alive…” Nope She sees the empty tomb.“God is so faithful…” Nope She even sees two angels sitting where Jesus had been laid.“She cries ‘they stole Jesus' body.” John 20:11-13 (NIV)11 Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb 12 and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus' body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.13 They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” “They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don't know where they have put him.” NOTICE THIS…Mary is experiencing the Resurrection Story but does even realize it… because “TOO LATE” was making her decisions. Stone rolled away. Empty tomb. Two angels… And she is still in grief. Still confused. Still assuming the worst. The Easter story was not driven by strong faith. It was driven by a strong Savior. This is not a story where everybody believed perfectly and then Jesus rose.Jesus rose while they were still doubting. Still grieving, confused, assuming it was over. So if your faith is shaky today, hear me clearly. You are in the right place. If you came in barely believing, you are in the same story. If you came in worn out, skeptical, disappointed, or numb… Because the resurrection does not start with their faith. It starts with His power. Back to John 20 14 At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. It is starting to get ridiculous. She sees the resurrected Lord… still nothing. 15 He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” So Mary is looking at Jesus… and her best guess is landscaper. The resurrection story had already begun.Mary had a front row seat. But she still thought it was over. God could be moving.Doors could be opening.Hope could be closer than we think. When “too late” has been making your decisions, you do not interpret life through resurrection. You interpret everything through loss. I have a question for us. When does the resurrection start for Mary? Evidence? No.Stone rolled away. Tomb empty. Supernatural? No.Two angels. Here is when the resurrection starts for Mary. John 20:16 (NIV)16 Jesus said to her, Mary. She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, Rabboni (which means Teacher). That's the moment. Not when the tomb is empty. Not when the angels show up.Not even when Jesus is standing right in front of her. The resurrection becomes real for her when Jesus makes it personal. When He says her name. That is what I want people to hear today. Resurrection is not just an event you hear about. It is a Savior who knows you.And calls you by name. Happy Easter… but here is the truth. You do not need another Easter sermon. You do not need another song. You do not need another religious gathering. You need to hear His voice.Hear His Voice Because the resurrection did not become real to Mary when the tomb was empty. It became real when Jesus called her name. Practice 1: Make roomYou cannot hear a voice you never make space for. This week: Five minutes. One prayer: Jesus, I am listening. Then sit in silence. Practice 2: Get specificGeneral prayers rarely touch specific pain. This week: Name the one place that feels too late. Pray: Jesus, speak life here. Practice 3: Hear Him with peopleGod often uses community to turn the volume up.This week: Don't carry this alone. Ask for prayer. Get with people. That's how Jesus brings life back. What if it is NOT TOO LATE?This is what life looks like on the other side of too late. People start hearing Jesus again.-stop pretending they are fine.-stop suffering in silence.-start taking one step at a time toward life. Homes start to change.Anxiety does not get the steering wheel.Debt is faced with wisdom and support.Relationships get honest.Faith comes back online. Resurrection Life can start for you right now. CALL TO ACTION – RESPOND TO HIS VOICE Jesus is alive. Do you feel him reaching out to you? Here's what we're asking you to do. 1) COME FOR PRAYER If you need prayer for anything – anxiety, grief, addiction, marriage, finances, health – come forward when we open the response moment.Do not leave carrying it alone. 2) SAY YES TO JESUS If today is your day to follow Jesus – for the first time, or for the first time in a long time – come forward and tell someone on our team. We want to pray with you and help you take the next step. And maybe you are not ready to come forward… 3) TAKE A CLEAR NEXT STEP BEFORE YOU LEAVE If you are not ready to come forward, use the connection card. Check one box before you leave: I want to follow Jesus I want to learn about baptism I need prayer I want a phone call Turn it in today. We will follow up.
In this episode of In All Things, Cameron Shaffer, lead pastor of Langhorne Presbyterian Church and author of Keeping Kids Christian, shares pastoral insights on discipling children and cultivating lasting faith in the home and the church. Drawing from both Scripture and experience, Cameron offers a thoughtful theological framework for understanding how faith is formed, and why it so often struggles to take root. Together, he and Dean explore practical ways churches and families can partner in raising children who know and love the Lord, as well as the importance of community, consistency, and grace in that process. The Bitcoin Boomers Ep. 04: "There Needs to be a Revolution" Ex-Reagan Library Director Speaks Out on Bitcoin | John Heubusch, Lawrence Lepard, Bob Burnett, Gary LelandJohn Heubusch (former Executive Director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Reagan insider, and bestselling author) joins Lawrence Lepard, Bob Burnett, and Gary Leland for an explosive Bitcoin Boomers episode exposing fiat's collapse under America's $38.6 trillion national debt and Bitcoin's revolutionary escape. As Bitcoin hovers around $89K in January 2026 after dipping from 2025's $126K highs, John declares: "There needs to be a revolution... maybe that's when Bitcoin has its moments," linking Reagan's "government is the problem" ethos to sound money's revival. The crew dismantles Nixon's 1971 gold shock as fiat's "beginning of the end," fueling inequality, endless printing, and ethical rot in politics—why Reagan would HODL Bitcoin for its tech disruption like Star Wars defense. Amid hyperinflation fears and US overexpansion mirroring the Soviets' fall, they orange-pill boomers: scarcity (21M BTC cap vs. infinite fiat), network effects outpacing Visa/Mastercard, and AI needing Bitcoin as its frictionless currency. John shares jaw-dropping tales—dating Lady Di, rescuing Reagan's blood vial from eBay, running the Library with Air Force One inside—and his cancer survival blending faith/immunotherapy. Larry slams advisors ignoring Bitcoin's 16-year dominance, Bob ties PC revolution to BTC adoption, Gary urges top 1% ownership (just 0.25 BTC). The revenue of US dividend stocks isn't necessarily made in America. A portfolio of popular dividend-paying stocks is likely exposed to currency or geopolitical risks. That's due to international revenue exposure: Some US-based companies earn 50% or more of their money outside of the country. A recent analysis of 35 dividend-paying stocks in Morningstar's DividendInvestor newsletter found several well-known names generate sizable revenue overseas. So, how should investors balance US vs. non-US equity exposure? Morningstar's DividendInvestor newsletter editor David Harrell explains what investors should know. Learn about Morningstar's new Medalist Ratings for semiliquid funds during a live webinar on Morningstar's YouTube channel on Wednesday, September 10th. CEO Kunal Kapoor and Global Head of Manager Research Laura Lutton will discuss what investors should know about private assets and the first funds to earn the new rating on the Investors First series. On this episode:You recently analyzed the international revenue exposure of dozens of dividend-paying stocks. But this wasn't the first time. Let's first focus on names with more US revenue exposure. Who are they?Which companies with more international revenue exposure are undervalued?International stocks are having a long-awaited banner year versus US stocks. Are investors whose only international revenue exposure is these US-based stocks benefiting from this international rally? How should investors balance US vs. non-US equity exposure in their portfolios? That is, what if investors looking at their portfolio see that they have home-country bias? What should they consider from a diversification standpoint?Welcome to Investing Insights, Kunal. Is the 60/40 portfolio living up to its reputation of resilience this year? The merit of a classic portfolio of 60% stocks and 40% bonds has been a matter of debate in recent years. A diversified 60/40 strategy failed to protect investors in 2022's broad market crash—in fact, an all-stock portfolio would have held up better. However, a historical deep dive from Morningstar concluded that the tried-and-true approach lessened the pain in almost all of the worst market crashes in 150 years better than an all-stock portfolio. Morningstar Inc Portfolio Strategist Amy Arnott discusses the 60/40 portfolio's ups and downs and its performance in 2025.On this episode:What is a 60/40 portfolio, and why is it popular? We often hear claims that the 60/40 portfolio is “dead” or obsolete. Why does it get criticized so much? Some of that criticism flared up in 2022. Why was the performance so bad for the 60/40 portfolio that year? Volatility has rocked the markets in 2025. How has the classic investment strategy done so far this year? Are there any asset classes that have performed better so far in 2025? Why? And which ones have struggled? Interest rates are sitting above 4%, but market watchers are anticipating the Federal Reserve will cut rates in September. What could that mean for the fixed-income part of the 60/40 portfolio? How do you think the 60/40 portfolio will perform over the next few years? Should people still rely on the 60/40 portfolio, or is another strategy better like the 70/30 or 50/30/20, which can be a mix of stocks, bonds, and alternatives? The tried-and-true strategy has proved its worth. So, what's the final takeaway for current retirees, future retirees, or anyone seeking less risk?Read about topics from this episode. If the tension between holding on and letting go feels all too familiar, you’re not alone. This episode is rich with encouragement and real talk about living surrendered, even while navigating hopes and disappointments—rooted in the steady goodness of God. Today Heather welcomes back her friend, author, and fellow pastor’s wife, Rebecca George, for an honest, relatable conversation about the ever-challenging tension between surrender and control. Episode Highlights: Surrender vs. Control: What’s Really at Stake?Heather and Rebecca dive headfirst into the push and pull many women feel between wanting to surrender to God and desperately trying to control outcomes—especially around good and godly desires, like marriage, family, health, or career. Heather observes how easy it is for our goals and expectations—even the good ones—to become idols, subtly pulling our hearts away from God. Rebecca shares her personal journey of longing for marriage later than most of her peers, describing the emotional wrestle of watching others get what she deeply wanted and how that desire, while good, could easily take God’s place on the “throne of the heart.” Modern Culture Makes Surrender Even HarderThey reflect on how instant-gratification culture (think Amazon Prime, DoorDash, and Uber) actually conditions us to expect control, which makes real spiritual surrender even harder. Heather likens our current approach to life as having an “Amazon Prime mentality”—believing we can make anything happen if we try hard enough. Redefining SurrenderRebecca explains that surrender isn’t simply giving up or becoming passive (“I’ll just sit at home and wait for God to drop someone on my windshield!”)—but is more about daily, sometimes moment-by-moment, recognizing where our desires have edged into idolatry, and inviting God to search our hearts (Psalm 139:23-24). True surrender may require us to “lay it down at Jesus’ feet” repeatedly—sometimes a dozen times in a single day. Living in the Tension (Not the Black-and-White)The conversation unpacks the problematic “black and white thinking” that makes us feel like we have to choose between frantic striving and total resignation. Instead, Heather and Rebecca discuss how the Bible calls us to live under God’s grace, trusting His goodness even in the waiting and uncertainty. Rebecca emphasizes God’s sovereignty and immutability—He is good and in control, regardless of whether we get what we want. Surrender is deeply tied to humility—admitting, “You are God and I am not,” and being okay with that. Practical EncouragementRebecca urges listeners not to be discouraged if surrender is a daily (or hourly!) process. The “muscle memory” of waiting and trusting needs to be built, especially in a culture that minimizes waiting or struggle. Heather adds that inviting God to lovingly “press on sore spots” may hurt, but always leads to healing. About Rebecca’s New BookRebecca introduces her new book, You’re Not Too Late: Trusting God’s Timing in a Hurry-Up World**, designed for women at any stage who feel “the ache of the almost.” Every chapter includes prompts, prayers, and real-life case studies, plus a free companion video series for small groups or personal study. What do the love story of Habagat & Amihan have to do with ants and elephants? Carmina and Patch discuss the mythology of the Philippines' monsoons, how early Filipinos dealt with this phenomenon, and current day views about climate change. They talk about how Tropical Cyclone Haiyan (also known as Yolanda) gained global attention through Yeb Saño's emotional speech at the 19th conference of parties (COP) to the UN in 2013 and his climate justice efforts. They also introduce us to Red Constantino and his impactful essay “How the Ants Move the Elephants in Paris,” which chronicled the developing nations' collective efforts in 2015 to move developed nations towards a more equitable Paris Agreement. Cook The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 2.45M subscribers Subscribed 4K Share 81,634 views Jan 9, 2025 Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people? In the face of life's hardships, the promise remains: joy and peace await those who choose faith over fear and hope over despair. Jesus Christ's love offers strength to endure, healing for our wounds, and a path to rise above life's challenges with grace and courage. Through Him, every sorrow can be turned into purpose, and every trial into a step closer to eternal joy. "We do not know all the answers; however, we do know important principles that allow us to face trials, tribulation, and adversities with faith and confidence in a bright future that awaits each of us. "We can joyfully be peaceable followers of Christ." —Elder Quentin L. Cook (General Conference Oct. 2023) SUBSCRIBE to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the latest videos. It invites us to turn our hearts to Him, find forgiveness, and experience lasting joy. While it's never too late to embrace this sacred gift, the scriptures remind us not to delay. Each day offers an opportunity to make small course corrections, grow, and draw closer to our Savior. Let the love of Jesus Christ inspire you to repent daily—He is ready to welcome you with open arms. SUBSCRIBE to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the latest videos. For over 50 years, For the Strength of Youth has been a guide for generations of Latter-day Saint youth. I always keep a copy in my pocket, and I share it with people who are curious about our standards. It has been updated and refreshed to better cope with the challenges and temptations of our day. The new version of For the Strength of Youth is available online in 50 different languages and will also be available in print. It will be a significant help for making choices in your life. Please embrace it as your own and share it with your friends. This new version of For the Strength of Youth is subtitled A Guide for Making Choices. To be very clear, the best guide you can possibly have for making choices is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the strength of youth. So the purpose of For the Strength of Youth is to point you to Him. It teaches you eternal truths of His restored gospel—truths about who you are, who He is, and what you can accomplish with His strength. It teaches you how to make righteous choices based on those eternal truths.13 It's also important to know what For the Strength of Youth does not do. It doesn't make decisions for you. It doesn't give you a “yes” or “no” about every choice you might ever face. For the Strength of Youth focuses on the foundation for your choices. It focuses on values, principles, and doctrine instead of every specific behavior. The Lord, through His prophets, has always been guiding us in that direction. He is pleading with us to “increase [our] spiritual capacity to receive revelation.”14 He is inviting us to “hear Him.”15 He is calling us to follow Him in higher and holier ways.16 And we are learning in a similar way every week in Come, Follow Me. Today, our interdenominational Christian ministry serves the poor in primarily 17 countries throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. Thanks to our faithful donors, we are able to provide food, housing, healthcare, education, fresh water, emergency relief, micro-enterprise solutions and much more. We are proud to have fed millions of people and provided more than 15.7 billion dollars in aid. Our faith inspires us to be an organization built on compassion, and motivated by love. Our mission is to bring relief to the poorest of the poor in the countries where we serve. We strive to reflect God's unconditional love. It's a sacrificial love that embraces all people regardless of race or religion. We believe that we can show His love by serving the “least of these” on this earth as Christ challenged us to do in Matthew 25. We pray that by God's grace, and with your support, we can continue to bring relief to the suffering and hope to the hopeless. --------------------------------------------------------
