Today's subject is one that I find most shy away from because it's not this sexy, shiny topic. But I promise you, it is one of the most life giving subjects and it is REPENTANCE. Andrea Hamilton is a long time friend, singer/songwriter, worship leader and pastor, who has such depth and knowledge as she has spent many years in deliverance ministries. As someone who has navigated OCD and eating disorders, Andrea does such a beautiful job navigating the beauty of repentance. We take the "religious" cover off and dive into why repentance is necessary and a daily act we get to partake in! My guest for Rebuilding Beautiful Episode 3 is Andrea Hamilton Binley. For Andrea, music has always equalled healing. Andrea began touring as a professional musician at age 16 after winning one of GMA's Best New Song awards. She immediately made it her mission to inspire hope through uplifting pop music. After taking a two-year break to battle for her own physical health, her mission to reach those who need hope-filled music is even stronger. In our conversation we talk about her journey with lime disease that nearly took her life and how she clung to hope in the pit of her pain. Andrea has been such a beautiful friend to me and I know her faith filled words will encourage the hearts of so many who are fighting for their health. In this episode of The Church Planting Podcast, Pastor Don Hamilton of Vibrant Church and his daughter and Global Director of Stadia, Andrea Hamilton, talk to Greg about how God used a pancreatic cancer diagnosis to impact His kingdom.
Andrea Hamilton didn't grow up in a musical home, but her love for music, especially songwriting, was recognized when she was 16 years old and was honored by Gospel Music Association as one of the nations top young songwriters. As a young adult, she moved from Nashville to Los Angeles to launch her music career. After touring in Asia and other parts of the world, she developed a debilitating illness that kept her alone, sick, and away from the people, and career, she loved. She used that time to get close to God, and eventually has gone on to a successful pop music career, all while serving as worship leader at a Southern California mega church. This week’s episode comes to you preceded by lots of prayer as we talk about suicide and depression in the Church. In 2018, Andrew Stoecklein, the pastor of Inland Hills Church in California, took his own life. Just less than two weeks before, Andrew had preached a sermon on depression and suicide, and how to battle it. The Church was in shock... it didn’t make sense. Approximately one million people a year commit suicide and their pastor was one of them. In episode 103, we are honored to be joined by worship leader at Inland Hills Church, Andrea Hamilton. When Andrew died, Inland Hills Church desperately needed their leaders to rise up, and Andrea did just that. This episode is meant to educate, and help us all to be more aware of the warning signs of suicide. Especially in the Church wherein some situations, mental illness has been perceived to be the result of spiritual weakness. Listen in as Andrea shares her story about how Andrew’s death affected her and the Church, and how even through it all, Inland Hills grew stronger and more alive than ever. We pray this episode empowers and encourages you all and if there’s anything we can do to better serve you through this podcast, please let us know. And for anyone who may be experiencing thoughts of suicide or knows someone in need, please visit the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline or call 1-800-273-8255. Andrea Hamilton drops back into Joe Armstrong's Studio Tropico for an Independent's Day FFWD episode. She talks about how artists can make solid income writing music for TV and advertising placements, how prolific she is, and she plays a song called "Better Together."
Folk-pop chanteuse Andrea Hamilton was well on her way to a successful music career when she was stricken with a mysterious ailment while returning from a tour in Vietnam. Doctors and specialists couldn't seem to determine just what it was, but they did tell her that she'd never sing again. Not content to give up on her dream, Hamilton put her trust in her faith and her conviction that she would continue to do what she felt she was destined to do - which was to share her passion for writing incisive, hopeful and heartfelt songs - and that she'd be the one singing them. This hell-and-back-again story is replete with hope, and Hamilton used it as inspiration for her latest album, Slow Miracle.
