In a special Marvel edition of the podcast, Ally is joined by Laura Kammerman (laurizzlek) and Andrea Towers (_atowers), her friends from work! The women of marvel (not sponsored by Women of Marvel) talk about how Xena was challenging gender roles in the nineties, and things get personal when it comes to abandonment, self confidence, and relating to Xena as a strong and powerful woman. You better believe that Xena is more than just a "strong female character" trope on legs. Also, both of this episode's guests have been touched by greatness, as they have met both Hudson Leick (Callisto) and Lucky goddamn Lawless herself. Tune in to hear all the juicy details! And He also runs down the next few months in GonnaGeek podcast host convention appearances. AGENT CARTER “LIFE OF THE PARTY” AND “MONSTERS” [12:04] The Legends Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents go into detail this week to debrief you on a special two hour block of Agent Carter this week. The agents breaks down all the character’s journeys in these episodes. Jason Wilkes the center of the plot moving forward. On the other hand, Jason’s Zero Matter buddy Whitney Frost approaches Zero Matter from an entirely different angle. Agent Lauren is wondering when the Whitney Frost Lab Rat slaughter will end, but loved the Calvin death (he deserved it). SP coins the button phrase #FrostIsBoss as Whitney takes control of the Secret Empire and everyone’s pal Ray Wise supports Whitney too! As unbreakable Dottie Underwood is, it only take a few seconds exposed to Zero Matter to break her – the stuff is THAT bad. Everyone had been anxiously waiting for Ana Jarvis to return, only to find out she wasn’t the wall that we thought she might be and she ends up mortally wounded at the end of the two episodes. The Agents strongly suspect Hayley Atwell’s American Accent streak was broken in episode 8 but loved her “Terrible Idea.” Plus the Agents spend some time on Peggy Carter’s kisses and Jarvis’ relationship intervention mid-mission. The Agents wonder if this is finally the start of S.H.I.E.L.D. and repeat that the Carter-Jarvis relationship on screen is truly the heart and soul of the show.
