Satellites spend most of their time high above Earth. But getting to orbit and coming back down can have big impacts on Earth’s atmosphere. Booster rockets add a lot of water vapor and other compounds to the atmosphere, which could have an impact on the climate. And a recent study found that satellites burning up in the atmosphere could be a problem for the ozone layer, which protects us from the Sun’s harmful radiation. The study looked at the number of satellites in orbit today, and the number that could be in orbit in the future. Most of those satellites are small craft that provide Internet service. Today, there are more than 6,000 of them. And the pace is picking up, as companies plan to launch tens of thousands more. Most of those satellites will fall to Earth after a few years. The satellites contain a lot of aluminum, so as they burn up, tiny bits of aluminum enter the upper atmosphere. They form particles of aluminum dioxide – a compound that creates chemical reactions that destroy ozone. The particles can remain in the atmosphere for decades. Today, satellite debris adds about 30 percent to the amount of aluminum dioxide in the atmosphere. But the study says that years from now, it could jump to about 650 percent – an addition that could further damage Earth’s ozone layer. Script by Damond Benningfield

Paweł Kicman. TTRPG designer by day, popculture journalist by night. Creator of CORP BORG, Kill Your Necromancer, Whispers of the Woods (LAST HOURS ON KICKSTARTER) and other weird things. He loves vanilla pudding, basketball, and sleeping. I gotta say that what got my attention to Paweł's work was Corp Borg and his critique to corporations and all the shit related to them. That immediately made a connection with me, and when I saw the way the book looked and the awesome and brutal stuff you get to do, I was hooked. And not to mention all the creators I've met from Poland so far are great people! On this chat with Paweł we get to know him a little bit better. We talk about his journey as a Game Designer, what dire circumstances lead him there, and how these turned into something unexpected. We talk about his previous experiences, works and how that all relate to the games he makes now. We talked about inspiration, other artists, the weird stuff that he likes, and how very little things makes him happy (but how valuable those things are as well). It was a great chat, with some very insightful and interesting sections I know you will love as we did! So listen up and get weird with us! Check out Paweł's Links! A really big scifi trope, as big as clones or intelligent robots, body snatching has been steadily ingrained in classic scifi mythos and has been used in almost every long running scifi show I can think of! From Stargate SG-1 to Falling Skies, people being replaced by robots, puppets, aliens, clones, has become a BIG component that has been utilized to a great extent by the genre.
