Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 97th episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings. This set covers discs 1676 to 1700 in my Classic Collection. In my Fuzzy Feature, I talk about the 1946 Holmes and Watson mystery "Dressed to Kill," starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. I chat about the Kyle Smith book they used as a basis for at least the title and the names of a few characters in the 2006 CBS Tom Cavanaugh vehicle "Love Monkey." I found it while attending a book chat author and fellow podcaster Kemper Donovan gave for his debut murder mystery "The Busy Body" in Grand Rapids, Michigan, last April, which gave me an excellent opportunity to highlight the upcoming release of the second installment in his ghostwriter series, "Loose Lips," available for pre-order at www.kensingtonbooks.com/9781496744548/loose-lips/ or any independent bookseller you prefer. In Cross Connections I highlight appearances by several actors in shows I cataloged in this set, including Ray Wise, John Larroquette, Michael Ian Black, Michael Imperioli, Kurt Fuller, Cory Montieth, Benito Martinez, Tyne Daly, Judd Nelson, Liam James and Alyssa Milano. I determined Diedrich Bader likely qualified as a Golden Thread in my collection. In my Classic Collection, I chat about "Who's the Boss?" references in "Community," I do a compare and contrast on "Human Target" and "Archer," with comments on "Desperate Housewives" and "Supernatural." In my Current Collection, I archived family memorial services into my home collection. I also archived "Agatha All Along," "Only Murders in the Building," and the Kamala Harris rally in Milwaukee.  Archiving is on hold while we get ourselves set up in our new home in Utah. Even so, I watched the "Doctor Who" Christmas special on Disney Plus. Comments on that, as well as "Wicked" and "Sonic the Hedgehog 3." TOP TWELVE: Here's a "Top Twelve" episode guide for people looking for a quick read-in on this blog and podcast effort: https://videofuzzy.libsyn.com/about. Enjoy!

We loved The Substance. The performances were fantastic, the story was entertaining, and the effects were great. It was sexy, funny, and gross. Its slew of Golden Globes nods have us very excited about the movie and the future of genre cinema. Final Destination 6 is a different story.Ray Wise and Lin Shaye in a holiday horror movie sounds like a great idea. As a matter of fact, Dead End from 2003 does a lot of things right. Creepy road horror tends to be fun, there is a good kill or two, and there are even some funny moments. Unfortunately, the bad outweighs the good. The film does not get the atmosphere right until it is just about over, most of the gore is told instead of shown, and none of the comedy seems to be intentional. Worst of all is the title. It is so on the nose that it will end up slipping by some people. To top it all off, it has the type of ending that pretty much everyone hates.Replicator gets off to a great start. This is quickly followed up by a looooooong courtroom scene that ruins all the goodwill that was built. As it turns out, the open was just a tease while what followed is a more accurate portrayal of what the movie actually is. And that is not even the worst of its problems. We also delve further into the Liminal project, the ideas behind it, Dash's investigation team and some of the cases they are involved with in the show - one of which features legendary actor Ray Wise, of 'Twin Peaks' fame. It's time to jump in the pool! Chris Pine's directorial debut was in theaters for two weeks tops, but we were able to dive in and experience it on the big screen. In the film, Chris Pine plays poolman Darren Barrenman. He fights for what is right in Los Angeles, which leads him down a path of corruption & real-estate & water & power. Pine assembled an impressive cast including Annette Bening, Danny DeVito, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Stephen Tobolowsky, Clancy Brown, John Ortiz, Ray Wise, Juliet Mills, and DeWanda Wise. Poolman premiered at the Toronto Film Festival to wretched reviews, so we knew we had to see it! Never watch this film, but do listen to our take on Chris Pine's Poolman!

Send us a Text Message. On this 85th episode of Fabulous Film and Friends we are going to connect the dots between three seminal cautionary tales from the 80's: 1984's Repo Man directed by Alex Cox and starring Emelio Estevez, Harry Dean Stanton, Olivia Barash, Jennifer Balgobin, Dick Rude, Tracey Walter, Sy Richardson, Vonetta McGee, Richard Foronjy, Tom Finnegan, Eddie Velez, Del Zamora, Zander Schloss, Fox Harris and Jimmy Buffet. Then 1987's River's Edge directed by Tim Hunter starring Keanu Reeves, Crispin Clover, Ione Skye, Daniel Roebuck, Joshua John Miller, Josh Richman, Roxana Zal, Jim Metzler, Tom Bower and Dennis Hopper and topped off with Robocop, also from 1987 and starring Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Kurtwood Smith, Miguel Ferrer, Paul McCrane, Ray Wise, Jesse D. Goins, Felton Perry, Del Zamora, Dan O'Herlihy and the inimitable Ronny Cox.  I'm Gino Caputi and returning to the program to break down all this cynicism and disaffected young adulthood are my sister Roseanne, the lit major, Joe Field, the author/hypnotist and back again after a long fitful stint in suspended animation, the photobug and funny man Gordon Alex Robertson!Okay before we suit up and start taking names, the synopses: In Repo Man, Otto, an LA punk, gets fired from his job as a grocery clerk but finds his true calling when a tough-talking stranger named Bud convinces Otto to join his team of auto repossession agents. Bud, Otto and the entire network of the repo men run into an existential crisis when a mysterious car that has a reward of 20k is believed to have an alien in its trunk.  River's Edge is loosely based on true events and catalogues a turmoil of emotions or lack thereof that a group of teens encounter when they discover one of their friends, John aka Samson, has murdered his girlfriend while another friend, Layne, swears them all to secrecy.  Robocop looks into the future where the Detroit police are privately owned by a corporation called Omni Consumer Product. After Alex Murphy a brave but naive officer is killed in the line of duty by a ruthless crime lord named Clarence Boddiker, Murphy's body is given to OCP for a pilot program that transforms Murphy into a cyborg called Robocop. The program seems to work and Robocop starts cleaning the streets until he realizes all is not right in his programming and there are sinister forces that led to his creation, including a pact between OCP VP Dick Jones and Boddiker's gang.    Follow the FFF Facebook page!https://www.facebook.com/groups/fabulousfilmandfriends Watch the episode on Youtube:https://youtu.be/l7IVqxqb1hw

On episode 31 of Really Weird Stuff: A Twin Peaks Podcast, we're diving headlong into the 1992 cinematic prequel, "Fire Walk With Me", written by Robert Engels and David Lynch, and directed by David Lynch. It was released to theaters August 28th, 1992 and flopped HARD. It had premiered at Cannes earlier that year, to the bafflement of audiences and most critics. A handful of European critics were pioneers of understanding the film for the masterpiece it is. Sheryl Lee and Ray Wise give everything they have to tell the story of Laura's final days. We also learn a little about Theresa Banks and the agents who mysteriously disappeared whilst investigating cases with the top secret designation: Blue Rose. We did a tremendous amount of prep for this episode, including studying the lore of the Lodge Entities,  providing foot notes from The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer, and doing our best to understand The Coop Loop.  Predictably, the discussion gets fairly heavy at times. TRIGGER WARNINGS: for discussing Sexual Assault, Drug Abuse, and Incest. But we also manage to have a little fun mining the moments of levity, heaping love onto some favorite characters (including Bobby and Carl), and reminiscing about when we first got to know Laura Palmer. As Amy overheard from some teenage girls in the bathroom of the Westfield New Jersey Mall Cinema in 1992, "there are some movies you just have to be an adult to understand". And even then, it takes some leg work. Gobble... Gobble. Gobble. https://www.reallyweirdstuffpod.cominsta: @reallyweirdstuffpod twitter: @reallyweirdpod facebook: @reallyweirdstuffpodcast email: reallyweirdstuffpod@gmail.com

To start off the holiday season, Aaron and Derek tackle 2003's French horror film "Dead End" written and directed by Jean-Baptiste Andrea and Fabrice Canepa. They discuss the tonal whiplash between the psychological breakdown of a family and sudden comedic beats, fears of family and travel during the holidays, and how Ray Wise and Lin Shaye carry the movie. They also get into why the soundtrack doesn't work, the comparisons with the Twilight Zone, why it doesn't feel like early 2000s French horror, and many other aspects of the flick. Aaron wants to save some pie for Derek. He's dead. Okay. We are on PodBean, Apple Podcasts, Podchaser, Goodpods, Amazon Music, Google, Stitcher, Spotify, and CastBox.
