Celtic lifted their third trophy under Ange Postecoglou at the weekend and skipper Callum McGregor and his team mates won't be breaking that habit anytime soon. In the season and a half or so that Ange has been at the helm he's transformed a disjointed squad of players into a ruthless and relentless winning machine in what's been an incredible turnaround. Two goal Kyogo will make the headlines for another cup winning performance, but it's clear that what we're seeing now from Celtic is a collective effort and we're all part of the journey - players, coaches, staff and fans. For the first time in 2023, the Celtic View Podcast is back in the studio as the team reflect on the start to the year so far for the Celts. Paul and Ryan reflect on Ange Postecoglou's Celtic since their return from the World Cup and look back on some of the big moments that include reaching the League Cup final. They also look back on the women and B teams and their starts to 2023 with both sides in the hunt to win their league titles. The special guest this week is Stefan Johansen, the three time Scottish Premiership winner and Scotland Player of the Year for 2015. The Queens Park Rangers midfielder joined Celtic in 2014 for a three-and-a-half year spell, and the Norwegian reflects on the big moments during his Hoops career, including a League Cup derby win and the Europa League match at home to Inter Milan.
The target for Celtic when entering any transfer window is to ensure that we come out the other side even stronger. So are we? In Ange Postecoglou's fourth transfer window we've made key additions in Yuki Kobayashi, Alistair Johnston, Tomoki Iwata and Hyeongyu Oh, but have also lost big hitters Josip Juranovic and (very likely) Giorgos Giakoumakis. So are we better off for our January trading? Is there anything the club should have handled differently? Are we happy with the work that Ange, Mark Lawwell and Michael Nicholson continue to do? Celtic's 2-1 win over Ross County on Saturday was the club's twenty-third game of what's been an eventful season so far. In the Scottish Premiership it's been a season of success and consistency. In Europe we've learned some harsh lessons at the hands of more experienced teams. Teams who boast some of the world's best players. Ange Postecoglou doesn't have a problem with that though. He likes lessons. He likes learning. And he knows how valuable these lessons will be to his young squad. So what will they have learned as we now enter the World Cup break? How have the results stacked up overall? What about the performances? And are we better now than we were twelve months ago? We go behind the numbers and look at the players who have made us tick in those twenty or so appearances. The one's who Ange relies on time after time, and the ones who reward his trust by putting in match winning displays. Listen in as we debate the half-term report card and discuss how the ongoing evolution of Ange Postecoglou's Celtic is shaping up. LIKE returning heroes Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers, we too at The Celtic Exchange are back for a whole new season where we'll bring you the very best of all things Celtic – on and off the park. Ange Postecoglou continues to build on last season's double success and its an exciting time as the fans anticipate what Ange's Celtic v2.0 will look like. As always at this time of year the main focus is on what other players will be signing up to be part of the Ange Revolution, as he fine tunes his squad to defend the league title and to take their place amongst Europe's elite in the UEFA Champions League. Alexandro Bernebei and Benjamin Siegrist have joined Jota and Carter-Vickers in committing to the club, with Ange stating that he wants a couple of more additions ahead of the new season. Speculation and rumours will rage on about who that will be and we'll look to bring you any news once confirmed. Meantime some other players have now moved on – either on a permanent basis or on loan deals – with the likes of Karamoke Dembele, Vasilis Barkas and Ismaila Soro deciding to ply their trade elsewhere, at least for the season ahead. The pre-season friendlies are already underway with some fringe players getting their chances, but expect the big hitters to return over the next few games as the squad prepare for that all important league opener against Aberdeen at Celtic Park on Sunday 31st July. Tino, Mif & James were on the mics this week, covering all of the above and more in the latest episode of The Celtic Exchange Weekly. Help support The Celtic Exchange by sharing this episode far and wide with your fellow Celtic supporters - it really makes a big difference to what we do. Thanks, Team TCE.

It was yet another terrific weekend of J1 action, but there was no where else we could start this episode than in Glasgow, where Ange Postecoglou's Celtic side clinched the SPL title last midweek, and lifted the trophy in front of the Parkhead faithful on the weekend, and Jamie McCourt (who was there to bask in the glory) and Stuart Woodward guest in Part 1 to talk about the remarkable turnaround the former F.Marinos boss has performed at the club, and the impact their four Japanese players have made. We also chat about Yokohama's performances in the ACL group stage, their emphatic weekend win over Shonan, and their embarrassment of attacking riches that makes them strong title contenders in 2022 (to 49:00). Then in Part 2 we run through the other games from J1 Matchday 13, including convincing wins at the top for Kashima and Kawasaki, Kobe breaking their duck in some style at long last, and Maxi's Moan at FC Tokyo (becoming a recurring segment, we know...).
Scotty & Ruttsy discussed Full Moons, Ange Postecoglou's Celtic triumph, the Eurovision Song Contest results, Drunk Deers, Bald sexual discrimination, Rick Astley for PM, Tinnies at the footy, Cash & Covid and Champagne consumption in Australia. Ange Postecoglou's Celtic are on a 6 game winning streak and with 24 goals scored and just 4 conceded in that time momentum is well and truly with the Hoops going into another important week. First up is AZ Alkmaar in The Netherlands on Thursday night before a midday trip across the city to face rangers in the Glasgow Derby. As Ange himself said "We Don't Stop" and knows the time for him and the Bhoys to step up to this latest challenge. Both games will provide a strong indication of just how far this Celtic side have come in such a short space of time and players and fans alike will have a quiet confidence about them given what we've witnessed in recent weeks. In an attacking sense Ange Postecoglou's Celtic are a joy to watch and 16 goals in 4 games tells you that's the case. Free flowing, attacking football is the order of the day under our new man. However, cheap goals and lapses in defence have also been a factor in his early reign so far – most recently the 2 goals conceded to Hearts – and this must be addressed if Celtic are to have a reasonable chance of success this season. The quote that is the title of this episode is attributed to Alex Ferguson, who knows all there is to know about winning titles. Celtic – and more specifically the board – would do well to pay attention to this and to ensure that Ange's defence is strengthened significantly in the 2 weeks that remain of this transfer window. If they do deliver for Ange, then we fully expect Ange to deliver for us!
