Wolfie looks at the expected line-up for Nottingham Forest game against Porto! Check out FFTV Merch! Click Here: https://forestfantv.com/ The European dream continues! Welcome back to Forest Fan TV as Wolfie gears up for one of the biggest nights in our recent history. Following that incredible penalty shootout victory over Midtjylland, Nottingham Forest find themselves in the UEFA Europa League Quarter-Finals, facing off against Portuguese giants FC Porto. We've already proven we can handle the pressure on the continent this season, but the Estádio do Dragão is a different beast entirely. Wolfie breaks down whether Vítor Pereira's men can replicate their clinical away form and take a vital result back to the City Ground for the second leg. The massive talking point heading into Thursday night is the fitness of Chris Wood. After a long-term knee injury and a successful scoring return with the U21s, the big question is: does he start? Wolfie dives into the predicted XI, debating whether Wood goes straight back into the lineup to lead the charge or if Igor Jesus keeps his place after a solid run of form. We take a look at Porto's danger men, including Samu Aghehowa and the experienced Luuk de Jong, and discuss the tactical shifts needed to shut down Francesco Farioli's side on their own turf. How are you feeling about this one, Forest fans? Can we pull off another European masterclass, or will the quality of Porto be a step too far? Wolfie gives his score prediction and outlines exactly what he thinks the "Road to Success" looks like in this first leg. We want to hear your thoughts in the comments below—does Chris Wood start, and what is your score prediction for the big night in Portugal? Let's get behind the boys as we look to make even more history! COYR! #nffc #nottinghamforest #porto Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

We are BACK! A DR vacation is nice, but it's nothing compared to Europa and Conference League 2nd legs. That's right, we're here to talk all of Thursday's best action beginning with Bologna's surprise triumph in Roma in extra time and Nottingham Forest's comeback quest in Midtjylland (including some unfortunate penalties). We also have lots of praise for the UEL's Spanish offerings in Betis and Celta Vigo, who are hitting their European strides at the right time, and elevate Porto to a top tier contender after a mightily impressive dismissal of Stuttgart. Meanwhile, in the UECL, Palace fails to beat AEK Larnaca in 90 minutes for the THIRD time this season, but both they and Fiorentina do what they do (and squeak through). We discuss how on earth they manage this and what we can expect when these two very movable forces meet each other in the next round. Additionally, we have lots of praise for AZ and AEK Athens, who look like confident sleepers to make a run. We also do an impromptu title power rankings in each competition as we look ahead to the exciting Quarterfinals matchups, assessing which clubs have our confidence and what's changed in the past month. Cheers to Francesco Farioli!

Wolfie looks at the expected line-up for Forest trip to The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium! To Buy Wolfie A Coffee! Click Here: https://buymeacoffee.com/forestfantv The Reds are back on the road this weekend for what can only be described as a season-defining clash in North London. After the historic European nights in Denmark, it's time to refocus on Premier League survival in this massive relegation six-pointer against Tottenham. Spurs have been surprisingly poor at home this season, and with their fans starting to grow restless, there is a massive opportunity for Forest to add to their misery. We've shown a real backbone away from home recently, picking up vital points on our travels, and Wolfie discusses whether we can silence the home crowd and snatch a victory that would send shockwaves through the bottom of the table. Selection is the big talking point heading into this one. Following that incredible "B-Team" performance against Midtjylland, the manager has some serious thinking to do. Did those midweek heroes do enough to force their way into the starting XI for a game of this magnitude? Wolfie breaks down the expected lineup, looking at whether we stick with the tried-and-tested Premier League starters or reward the momentum of the European victors. With survival on the line, getting the balance between defensive solidity and that clinical counter-attacking threat will be the key to unlocking a vulnerable Spurs backline. Can we build on the European high and bring three points back to the City Ground? A win here wouldn't just be three points; it would be a statement of intent that Nottingham Forest belongs in the top flight. We want to hear from you in the live chat and the comments—who makes your starting XI, and can we really pull off a massive upset in North London? Drop your score predictions below and let's get behind the boys for a huge afternoon of football. YOU REDS! #nffc #spurs #premierleague Learn more about your ad choices. Wolfie dissects what was a disappointing first leg defeat to Midtjylland in the Europa League! Subscribe to TFN https://www.youtube.com/@TheFootyNetwork?sub_confirmation=1 The City Ground was a washout in more ways than one tonight. In a match defined by torrential rain and puddles on the pitch, Nottingham Forest fell to a frustrating 1-0 defeat against Midtjylland in the first leg of our Europa League Round of 16 tie. Despite dominating long stretches of the game and creating chance after chance, we were hit by a sucker punch in the 80th minute as Cho Gue-sung haunted us once again. Wolfie is live to dissect a night where the weather was bleak, but the finishing was even bleaker. How have we managed to let this one slip away? The statistics make for painful reading for any Forest fan tonight. We've seen this story too many times recently—high shot counts but a total lack of clinical edge. In fact, across our recent home games, the shot-to-goal ratio has become a genuine concern, and tonight's 22 attempts without finding the net only adds to the frustration. Wolfie asks the big question: why are we so bad at finishing our chances? The big question now is: can we turn this around in Denmark? We are heading into the second leg with a mountain to climb, especially considering Midtjylland's formidable home record this season. We've seen the spirit this team has—as shown at the Etihad last week—but we need more than just spirit; we need goals. Jump in the chat and let us know your thoughts on the performance. Was it just bad luck in the rain, or is there a deeper issue with Pereira's setup? Give us your player ratings and tell us if you still believe the European dream is alive! Wolfie dissects what was a missed opportunity in the race for Premier League Survival! Check out FFTV Merch! Click Here: https://forestfantv.com/ We have absolutely bottled a golden opportunity. With West Ham suffering a heavy 5-2 defeat at Anfield yesterday, the stage was set for Forest to pull five points clear and finally breathe. Instead, we're left dissecting a 2-1 defeat at the Amex that feels like a massive step backward. Despite a momentary flash of brilliance from Morgan Gibbs-White to pull us level, the defensive lapses that followed were inexcusable. Wolfie breaks down the main takeaways from a frustrating afternoon on the South Coast, questioning why we couldn't capitalize on our rivals dropping points when the stakes are this high. The reality of the Premier League survival race is starting to look grim. We are still hovering just two points above the drop zone, and with a daunting trip to Manchester City coming up this Wednesday, the "cushion" we desperately needed has vanished. Vítor Pereira's league start has been worrying, and the lack of clinical finishing—paired with a defence that looks far too fragile—is a recipe for disaster. Are we currently sleepwalking toward the Championship? Wolfie looks at the table and the upcoming fixtures, asking if the European journey is becoming a distraction from the only goal that truly matters: staying in this division. We want to hear from you in the comments—are you officially hitting the panic button? How much of this defeat falls on the manager's tactics, and how much is down to players simply not being up to the standard? This week, host Richard Graves sits down with one of the most energetic and thought-provoking voices in modern performance: Niklas Virtanen, Head of Sports Science at FC Midtjylland. If you've ever wondered how a club without the financial muscle of Europe's giants consistently outperforms bigger teams, beating Nottingham Forest away, winning at Celtic, and challenging at the top of the Danish Superliga, this conversation tells you exactly how they do it. Niklas is a rare blend of passion, creativity and evidence-based practice. His presentation at a recent Catapult event had the entire room hooked, and this episode delivers the same energy. From dismantling traditional GPS limitations to redefining how football teams train for micro-actions, set pieces, and physical dominance, Niklas pulls back the curtain on the processes driving Midtjylland's success. This episode goes deep into the real-world application of sports science, the balance between data and intuition, and why sometimes the most powerful competitive advantage is simply learning to “solve problems without money.” Things You Will Learn * Why FC Midtjylland's entire model is built on “solving problems without money” and how data gives them a competitive edge. * How Niklas and his team dominate set pieces using Trackman technology and detailed ball-flight analytics. * Why GPS alone is blind to football's most important movements, and how inertial data captures the micro-actions that matter. * How to use accelerometers, gyroscopes and magnetometers to measure real football movement quality. * The truth about injury “prediction,” why we still don't know athletes' limits, and why subjective data is often your most valuable input. * How to balance analytics with player feelings, coaching intuition, and the “eyeball test.” * Why communication, not technology, is the biggest challenge when coaching staffs change. * Practical ways to design training exercises that actually transfer to match actions (including why traditional rondos may be overrated). * How to create buy-in across departments in fast-moving environments with shifting coaching teams. * Why the best decisions come from leading with data first, then layering coaching opinions on top. About Niklas Virtanen Niklas Virtanen is the Head of Sports Science at FC Midtjylland, one of Europe's most forward-thinking football clubs and pioneers in data-driven performance. From Finland's Jyvaskyla to the top of the Danish Superliga, Niklas has carved out a journey defined by curiosity, relentless learning, and a willingness to challenge traditional methods. Starting his career as a physiotherapist, he transitioned into coaching, performance, and ultimately sports science — where he discovered his passion for practical, applied, football-specific methodology. At Midtjylland, Niklas plays a central role in integrating data, performance analytics, inertial technology and coaching processes. His approach blends scientific rigour with real-world applicability, always anchoring decisions in the question: “Does this help the players perform?” He collaborates closely with coaches, mental performance staff, physios, analysts, and leadership teams, shaping a holistic performance culture built around trust, objective data, and constant communication. Niklas is known across the professional football community for his high energy, creativity, authenticity, and his commitment to pushing the boundaries of what sports science can be. You'll often find him speaking to — and learning from — industry leaders such as Chris Barnes and Paul Balsom, who he credits with encouraging him to explore unconventional ideas, test them in the real world, and build evidence from the ground up. He shares many of these insights on LinkedIn, where he's become a respected voice for modern performance practitioners. We're thankful this week for a full Thanksgiving slate of Europa and Conference League action that delivered some of the best games and storylines of the league phase thus far. In Europa, Ludogorets shocked Celta Vigo with a 3-2 in Bulgaria. How'd they pull one of the biggest surprises of the tournament thus far? We then break down the struggle of Feyenoord, Utrecht, and Go Ahead Eagles, who all lost amidst grueling schedules. What's going wrong for the Dutch sides? Can any of them rebound and qualify for knockouts? Are Robin van Persie and his son up to the challenge? We also touch on Roma's win over Midtjylland, Bologna's impressive run of form, and naturally, the carcass of OG Nice, who now sit rock bottom of the table. There we upsets galore in Conference League, with each of the top 4 league sides falling. Strasbourg got a signature win in their triumph over the visiting Crystal Palace, and we hone in on what made the fixture such an exciting watch and why the clubs have established themselves as clear favorites. Then, we examine Rayo Vallecano's penchant for making life hard on themselves, Mainz's mediocre play catching up with them, and the dismal existence that is Fiorentina. And, naturally, we give Hamrun Spartans some love for becoming the first Maltese club to win a UEFA group-stage match. All that, some table takeaways, more VAR vitriol, and of course, David's Coefficient Corner. Cheers to our old friend Vincenzo Italiano!

In this week's Huddle Breakdown Extra Time, Martin, Alan, and James dive deep into Celtic's managerial search and the future direction of the club. Alan vents his frustration at Celtic's lack of a clear football structure, asking why the process still seems driven by “manager-as-god” instincts rather than a modern, data-led approach. James argues that small steps—like the arrival of Paul Tisdale and Shaun Maloney's pathway role—show the first shoots of modernization beneath Dermot Desmond's old-school hierarchy. Together they weigh the risks of waiting until January for a new coach, debate Wilfried Nancy's credentials, and analyse what real progress would look like for Celtic after the Midtjylland collapse and the Kilmarnock response.Want to support the channel? - https://huddlebreakdown.comLike this video and want more content like it? In this week's Huddle Breakdown, Laura, Alan and James reflect on a challenging week for Celtic — from the 3-1 defeat in Denmark to a more composed 4-0 rebound at Celtic Park. Alan dissects the Midtjylland collapse, comparing it to the club's worst European nights, while James brings data-driven context showing just how far below standard the performance fell. The team then pivots to positives from the Kilmarnock win, before tackling the ongoing managerial search: whether Wilfried Nancy or Kjetil Knutsen could work inside Celtic's fractured structure, and whether Dermot Desmond's autocratic approach is the real barrier to progress.Want to support the channel? - https://huddlebreakdown.comLike this video and want more content like it? Forgive the tardiness on the release, but we're here to talk halfway point of the Europa & Conference League league phases! The Europa League gave us quests for perfection and imperfection alike. The French, Scots, and Dutch had nightmare days, losing all over the continent and missing out on precious points. We spend more time on Nice's unbelievable winless run in the tournament — with plenty of stats to back it up — then delve into Scotland's persistent struggles in European competition. What's gone wrong for Scottish football? Is there any room for optimism? Meanwhile, Germany and Spain go 3 for 3, and Midtjylland (!) won their 4th consecutive UEL game to remain tip top of the table. We share out appreciate for the Danes, their exceptional roster of players, and their young coach who may or may not get a cheers at the end of the show. Not to be outdone, the Conference League delivered 2 stoppage time winners from Rayo Vallecano and Mainz (over the hapless Fiorentina) and 2 more stoppage time equalizers. We talk through the importance of those results and marvel at the madness of Lincoln Red Imps, Drita, and KuPS all sitting in knockout place at the league phase midpoint. All that, some table takeaways, and David's Coefficient Corner on this week's show! Cheers to Mike Tullberg!
