Crossing the divide.Growing up in Surrey, there is little chance that Jamie Mackie would ever have imagined he would be embroiled in two of the fiercest rivalries in England. Well, he was, and he somehow comes out of it pretty well.As a teenager he broke into a Wimbledon side that was struggling financially and, when the decision was made to move the club to Milton Keynes, 18-year-old Jamie went. Three years later, he found himself as one of the top scorers in the Conference, with Exeter. At the peak of his powers, Devon rivals Argyle come into the conversation and once more Jamie takes the plunge. He has a successful time at Home Park, despite the side falling out of the Championship, and bagged a move to Queens Park Rangers, where, in two spells he won promotion, got called up for his country and scored in one of the most famous games of all time. Not bad for a boy from Surrey. This is the story of Jamie Mackie.

Many variables contributed to the evolution of Fulhamerica. From new ownership, to ambition, to the growth of American players in England at the right time. But, unbeknownst to many, the door opening moment for US soccer players at Fulham FC may have been a decision Mohamed Al-Fayed made to bring over a trusted executive, American Lee Hoos, from his Harrods business to the front office of the Cottagers. Hoos wasn't a football man, but he was a shrewd business man that worked his way into more influential positions companies in the United States before moving to London for the opportunity to work with Al-Fayed. Hoos, who recently stepped down as CEO of Queens Park Rangers but remained on as Chairman, joined Founding Futbol to talk about his journey to Fulham and beyond. He shares how when he moved to Fulham, there remained a connection to his homeland. American players and agents felt more comfortable picking up the phone and soon, Hoos was able to help the club consider that, maybe, a market opportunity existed with American players. Eventually, some of those players became club legends and are now inextricably intertwined with Fulham's identity. So we stopped a cycle of losing before heading into what is a very welcome international break for most, as Sunlun held QPR to a draw at the weekend. Join Gav and Martin as they try to talk about it all.. and end up talking about everything but the game. What's the crack? Our worst losing streak in a decade comes to an end, but we didn't make it easy on ourselves; what did the lads make of it all? Nice quick minute or so spent on the game itself here. We got a clean sheet! Just the one for now but it's good news? It is isn't it? Tell me it is please I need something. Can we build on this result, however dull it might've been? We need this international break, we need this summer and ideally we need it all to come along a lot faster; Do we need to change up the backroom staff a bit as well as the head coach? This is exactly what our Chris Wynn said would happen aye. Just… aye. Ha'way the Lads! #EFL #SAFC #EFLChampionship Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Well...we didn't lose. Quite frankly, we have also completely lost the plot on this podcast. Quite how we managed to get 38 minutes out is anyone's guess but here we are to run the rule over a very boring 0-0 draw between two poor and we even managed to have a little laugh. The whole gang joined as Dave, Brad, Ross and Lee join me for a podcast that is a bit unhinged. Give it a listen! Enjoyed the episode? Six defeats in a row, multiple injuries and an interim manager yet to win a game in his third stint. It ain't so rosey on Wearside right now. That said, QPR are also desperate for points as Marti's R's rock up to the Stadium of Light looking to grab a massive three points and inflict further pain on the Lads. Can they do it - or will Sunderland finally end their run of defeats? The always incredible Clive from LoftForWords joins us to chat about Beale, Marti, Gareth and Sunderland, what the game means to QPR and what has changed since that 3-1 win for Sunderland in 2023.
