With no game this week, the Dee are on double bounce game duty. How beneficial will that prove? Especially for the returning Simon Murray. And we have expert insight into Dundee's defensive improvement. Alan Temple is on hosting duty this week, joined by Graeme Finnan and former Dundee and Dundee United star Lee Wilkie. The Go Radio Football Show: 7th of August, 2025 In Association with Burger King. This is a catch-up version of the live, daily Go Radio Football show. Join host Paul Cooney alongside ex Celtic Striker Andy Walker and ex Rangers Defender Richard Foster. The episode opens with reflections on Rangers' impressive 3–0 win over Viktoria Plzeň in European competition. The performance was marked by high energy and tactical discipline, with standout contributions from Antman, Gassama, and Dessers. Russell Martin's bold managerial decisions - dropping captain James Tavernier and midfielder Nico Raskin - were praised for sparking a strong team response. His direct communication style and tactical clarity were seen as key to Rangers' resurgence. Celtic's season opener against St Mirren was also analysed. While the team secured a win, the performance was considered underwhelming, with Adam Idah missing key chances. Fans express concern over the lack of new signings, especially with Champions League qualifiers looming. Celtic were linked with winger Clément Bischoff and defender Adam Obert, and the recent signing of Simpson-Pusey from Manchester City was highlighted for his composure and passing ability. The need for a new striker and winger is discussed, with Maeda's relentless work rate and impact praised as vital to the team's success. The show also explores the importance of strong European performances by clubs like Hibs, Dundee United, and Aberdeen , along with the potential for Hearts to challenge the Old Firm in future seasons thanks to investment from Tony Bloom. The debate over whether Rangers now have the best front three in Scotland was lively, though Celtic are still seen as stronger overall. Pyrotechnics at matches led to suspended ticket allocations for Celtic, Aberdeen, and Partick Thistle, prompting calls for fans to follow regulations. Player spotlights included Aston Villa's rejection of an £18M bid from Everton for John McGinn, whose leadership and versatility is praised. Scott McTominay and Caroline Weir are both nominated for the Ballon d'Or, showcasing Scottish talent on the international stage. Bojan Miovski is suggested as a potential Celtic signing due to his intelligent movement and finishing ability. Looking ahead, the weekend fixtures promised excitement, with key matches including Aberdeen vs Celtic, Rangers vs Dundee, and St Mirren vs Motherwell. The transfer window, with 25 days remaining, is expected to bring strategic moves from both Celtic and Rangers. Don't miss it – hit subscribe, play and get stuck in! They also discuss the need for Celtic to strengthen their wide areas and midfield. The new Premiership campaign is officially upon us – so the boys are back with the first Monday Twa Teams, One Street. Sadly, the new campaign enthusiasm didn't last long at Dens Park, with Dundee suffering an underwhelming 2-1 defeat against Hibs that our man George Cran labelled ‘dismal'. We discuss the need for new signings – at least six, according to boss Steven Pressley – and the Dee's passive approach that barely laid a glove on the Hibees. On the bright side, there's praise for the shape of the team and one young defender is highlighted for plaudits. But should Billy Koumetio line up against Rangers? Across the road, rest and recovery is the order of the day after Dundee United played out a breathless 2-2 draw against Falkirk – just 48 hours after touching down from Conference League duty in Luxembourg. A creditable result given a remarkable injury list so early in the campaign, and one Terrors midfielder stood out as runaway man of the match. After switching to a 4-3-3 against the Bairns, how will Jim Goodwin seek to tackle Rapid Vienna – and dare United dream of a famous European night? Dundee United correspondent Alan Temple is joined by Dundee counterpart George Cran and Graeme Finnan. You can also see us on YouTube at youtube.com/@TheCourierUK/videos

Dundee United created history in Luxembourg – our man in the Grand Duchy, Alan Temple, is fresh off the plane to give us the lowdown on the 1-0 win over UNA Strassen. There's plenty to discuss including the awaiting Rapid Vienna, Kristijan Trapanovski's injury and why Falkirk on Sunday is as hard a season-opener as United could hope for. Plus plenty of Dundee FC chat as their Premiership opener against Hibs approaches on Sunday. Should Dees be worried and what's the latest on Simon Murray's injury? In the studio are George Cran and Graeme Finnan as Alan tunes in online. You can also see us on YouTube at youtube.com/@TheCourierUK/videos

It's a European special of Twa Teams, One Street. Or should that be Twa Teams, Una Strassen? There's a distinct European flavour to this week's episode and we kick off with our reaction to the UK/EU deal struck on Monday.Has the Scottish fishing industry, once again, been a bargaining chip worth sacrificing to benefit other parts of the UK economy? Given that fishing and farming are devolved matters why wasn't the Scottish government either involved or at the very least consulted on the agreements reached in these areas? Despite the trumpeting of the deal will it always be a sticking plaster over the economic wounds of Brexit?Saturday saw the latest edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Lesley has always been a massive fan of the event, Pat not so much, what are her reactions to the inclusion of Israel, the behaviour of the EBU and host broadcaster in apparently censoring the live audience during the Israeli performance, and the claims of massive state intervention in order for Israel to stage a propaganda coup? The British Museum hosted a secret celebration of Israel "Independence" Day. Much of the focus has been on the appearance at it by comedian Jimmy Carr but should more have been made of the speech given by UK Minister for Defence Procurement and Industry, Maria Eagle , on the day that the Labour government was in court defending itself against claims that it had continued to supply Israel with F35 aircraft parts in breach of its own sanctions?ScotLand( sic) Futures led by the Scottish Land Commission has called for individuals, community groups, land managers, businesses and organisations to "help shape a shared vision for how Scotland's land is owned, used and managed". Lesley asks if we need less "consultation" and more genuine action? As we recorded last week's episode the result of the vote at Stage One of The Assisted Dying Bill vote at Holyrood was unknown. The vote was in favour. What happens next?Andrew Tickell article - https://www.thenational.scot/politics/25171496.assisted-dying-debate-deserves-better-bad-faith-politics/We also look at the election of the new Pope and Pat revels in the prospect of a European tour with his beloved Dundee United. Welcome in for another edition of the Morning Espresso, presented by our friends at Oglethorpe University, Atlanta's premier undergraduate learning experience and soccer powerhouse. Another disappointing night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for Atlanta United, losing 1-0 to Philadelphia who go to the top spot in the Eastern Conference with the win. Personally, there were things I really liked about the shape change to play two central midfielders ahead of one holding midfielder and essentially two up top, although Miguel Almirón was essentially in a free role. However, it wasn't good enough on the night, the Union earned a deserved (although unlucky) penalty and converted to win 1-0. It doesn't get any easier for Atlanta United next weekend as they host the team level on points with Philadelphia in FC Cincinnati on Sunday night. Hot take alert, I'm a fan of the LA Galaxy announcing Greg Vanney's extension on Friday even though the team is still winless in regular season play in 2025. The negotiations started after Vanney won MLS Cup last December and were finalized recently. With the amount of injuries the Galaxy have tried to navigate this season, including to their 4 top attackers, a struggle was inevitable. A knee-jerk reaction to move on from Vanney after he rebuilt the club into a successful winning team would be the wrong move in my opinion. Crystal Palace earned their first major trophy by winning the FA Cup 1-0 over Manchester City. That will qualify them for the Europa League next year, their first time in a major European competition. Chelsea's women completed the domestic treble with their FA Cup win over Manchester United that saw USWNT members Catarina Macario score a goal and Naomi Girma marshal the backline to a clean sheet.Napoli and Inter both drew in Serie A yesterday, taking the title down to the wire. Their matches will be played on Friday with Napoli holding a one point advantage in the table. If they finish the night tied at the top of the standings, there will be a one-game playoff for the league title. PSV and Sporting won the Dutch and Portuguese top flight titles over the weekend respectively. Aberdeen defender Jack Mackenzie was hit by a plastic seat thrown by his own fans, intended for Dundee United fans celebrating on the field after their win that qualified them for Europe at the Dons' expense. He was bloodied and required treatment, the SPFL called the act "moronic". The great-great grandson of Ford Motor Company founder Henry Ford has become the majority shareholder of Scottish 2nd division side Livingston. Calvin Ford saw his new team win in their promotion semifinal. They will play either Dundee FC or Ross County for an opportunity to earn promotion to the Scottish Premiership. On the Club World Cup front, reports out of Spain indicate that an unnamed Brazilian club has made a "tempting" offer to Cristiano Ronaldo to join them for the tournament. Al Nassr is not in the event and Ronaldo is out of contract on June 30. Al Nassr also missed out on trophies this season and won't be in the Asian Champions League Elite tournament next season. Real Madrid paid the release clause for Bournemouth's CB Dean Huijsen. They have secured their new manager Xabi Alonso for the tournament, are working to bring in Trent Alexander-Arnold for the event as well, and reports indicate they could execute the buyback clause on Como's Nico Paz in time for the tournament as well. They are still chasing a left back too. New ticket options are available at FIFA.com/tickets along with hospitality opportunities at FIFA.com/hospitality.More Espresso coming tomorrow on the SDH Network.
