The Leading Reliability Conference provides participants with an opportunity to learn more about maintenance and reliability by attending live presentations, workshops, and trainings. In addition, attendees are also provided with ample opportunity to socialize and make connections – allowing participants to build relationships with influential professionals in maintenance and reliability from around the country. This year's event happens May 16-18 at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort in Clearwater Beach, Florida. Plant Services editor in chief Thomas Wilk recently spoke with the team behind the Leading Reliability Conference, including Shon Isenhour from Eruditio, Blair Fraser from UE Systems, Mason McNally from RDI Technologies, and Brian Shanovich from ACOEM. The group reminisced about last year's event and outlined what attendees can look forward to at the 2023 conference. Key takeaways In this episode, you'll learn: What to expect at the 2023 Leading Reliability Conference Who will be presenting and what new tech will be featured at the event Which is better, Star Wars or Marvel On the record "I think the big thing that you'll see with this conference and I think it's it is that fun environment that we create, it's not so serious. You know, you get to a lot of conferences and I kind of feel like it's so choreographed and you don't really get to talk to people. Everybody's on a schedule and then that sort of thing. And I think that's one of the things that a lot of people will see at this conference is, we're going to have fun. We're going to have a good time, but we're also going to learn a lot of things while we're there. And because of it, we get to spend a lot of times really batting around new ideas like Blair was talking about with the underwater sensor." -Shon Isenhour Learn more Leading Reliability Register now for the conference

For many asset-intensive businesses, conversations about adopting maintenance and reliability-focused AI or Machine Learning solutions are infused with widespread myths, illogical barriers, and a general sense of fear. You have likely overheard a conversation on the topic that ended with: “We aren't ready for that.”

Over the past decade, facility equipment reliability has been elevated from an often vague ideal to a mission-critical goal with benefits that outweigh both cost and complexity. As a result, well-run organizations now consider reliability to be an important element of their strategic and tactical plans and initiatives. This new reality impacts nearly every function, from procurement to maintenance, repair, and operations inventory management. Over the same period, savvy plant management has also embraced the philosophy that maximum reliability requires more than well-functioning equipment. What other correlated activities must organizations also engage in? In this week's episode of Maintenance Disrupted, Blair Fraser welcomes Dan Moss, VP Operations at Performance Consulting Associates otherwise known as PCA to talk about the Journey to Reliability: The Roadmap for Success. Welcome back to another episode of the Technology Innovations series of the Maintenance Disrupted Podcast where we look at the people and technology fueling Industry 4.0. In this episode, Blair Fraser sit down with Dane Boers of Modla to talk about the digitization of asset knowledge. In this episode, we discuss the typical approach to answer questions like what should my budget be next year or what predictive monitoring technology should I utilize. It doesn’t take long to realize that most of the questions get answered from the foundation knowledge that exists in exercises like FMECA and RCM but more concerning is the amount of information in people's head, SME knowledge. But how do you get it out? How do you have repeatability in your answers? Take a listen to this new approach to answering questions using asset modeling. Friction is inherent in all machine bearings. When this friction starts to change, ultrasonic analysis can tell us a lot about what is happening in that bearing. When both friction and impact monitoring with ultrasound get combined with the real-time data collection of a IIoT system, we can uncover the signs of a bearing asking for help. In this webinar, Blair Fraser of UE Systems Inc. discusses how simple it is to apply ultrasonic technology and how taking full advantage can prevent bearing failure from ever occurring. Unlike any breather on the market, The Des-Case Connected Breather has eliminated the subjectivity of color-changing desiccant media, allowing you to know the exact moment your breather is fully spent and should be replaced. Sensors inside the breather provides a precise digital reading of remaining breather life, saturation direction and breather temperature so the breather is never replaced too early or left on an unprotected asset. In this week's episode on the Technology Innovation series of Maintenance Disrupted, Blair Fraser talks with Roy Giorgio from Des-Case about a very important but often overlooked aspect of rotating equipment life by ensuring your lubricants are protected from harmful moisture and particulates with breathers. But can these seemingly simple devices become smarter? Yes, with the addition of key moisture, temperature, and battery sensors you can maximize the life of the breather and gain insights into your equipment health that was previously, not available. Brought up in a mining family that had no time for gender stereotypes, Allyson Hawley, our guest on today’s show, was surprised when she began her mechanical engineering degree with hardly any fellow women students. Throughout her career in the male-dominated mining industry, Allyson has received a lot of support but has also experienced a lot of subtle and not-so-subtle discrimination based on the fact that she is a woman. As she explains, sometimes it’s difficult to identify discrimination, which is why it is so important to find a community that has your back. Allyson also shares the ways in which men in these fields can contribute to eradicating the issue of gender discrimination. We discuss how Allyson’s company is working towards increasing gender diversity in STEM fields, changes she has seen take place in her industry over the years, her take on the hiring process, and her thoughts about what it takes to create a sustainable future. Emily is joined by Blair Fraser and Charli K. Matthews as co-hosts and the combination of perspectives makes for an eye-opening discussion!

Fluke Reliability's Xcelerate20 and the Industrial Talk Podcast is talking to Blair Fraser, Global Director of IIoT Solutions at UE Systems about "Disrupting Your Bearing Lubrication Through Automation". Get the answers to your "Bearing Lubrication" questions along with Blair's unique insight on the “How” on this Industrial Talk interview! It's been said that as many as 60% to 80% of premature bearing failures are lubrication related. Whether it is due to over lubrication, under lubrication, or simply using the wrong lubricant for the wrong application, it is still a lubrication related failure. One challenge for maintenance & reliability professionals is how to optimize their lubrication PM's. Ultrasound technology is one way to assist in enhancing lubrication procedures. Using ultrasound, we can prevent lubrication failures due to over and under lubrication. You can find out more about Blair and the wonderful team at UE Systems by the links below.
