Welcome to the latest bite-sized episode of Life, Passion, and Business with your host, midlife coach Paul Harvey. In today's reflection, we delve deep into one of the most pivotal aspects of life - Commitments. We seek to understand how we condition ourselves to meet or break commitments and explore potential routes toward greater personal accountability. In connection to coaching, we gauge the degree of commitment to desired actions on a numerical scale, which ultimately is a reflection of the energy we're willing to put in to accomplish the goal. The struggle comes when we fail to meet these commitments. The idea is not to harshly chide ourselves, but to seek a rational path through to get things done. While discussing commitment, we touch on the importance of managing promises made to children, who are yet to understand the intricacies of promise-breaking. The key lies in being conscious of the promises we make and ensuring not to create an environment of broken trust, particularly with children. The conversation evolves to discuss types of people who meet their commitments at all costs, and others who struggle to do so. Both extremes can lead to instances of ridicule, and somewhere amidst this, we aim to tread the middle path where it's acceptable to relish successes but also come to terms with difficulties encountered. When we don't meet our commitments, it's essential we maintain honesty with ourselves and inform those affected in good time - it serves the dual purpose of respecting their requirements and affirming our integrity. Particularly when we break internal commitments, it impacts our trust in ourselves, causing us to question our capabilities. The solution lies in setting micro-commitments, enabling us to gradually build faith in our abilities without overwhelming ourselves. Repeated successful completion of these commitments reinstates our internal trust, proving we're capable of meeting and being accountable to self-set goals. This enlightening discussion attempts to shed light on commitment, accountability, self-trust in the context of personal evolution, and the journey toward self-improvement. If these reflections resonate or if you've found this episode insightful, kindly share it with a friend, as that's how we grow our versatile and inspiring community. Have you ever felt the transformative power of music not just as a soundtrack to your life, but as a key to unlock deep, personal healing and growth? Can a song, a melody, or a rhythm truly spark a revolution within us, challenging us to confront and transcend the boundaries of racism, mindfulness, and our own potential for change?Today, Dr. Scott welcomes Grammy-nominated artist, best-selling author, and visionary speaker, Justin Michael Williams for a fascinating conversation about how we, as a community, can harness the emotional impact of music and mindfulness to not just envision, but actively create a world brimming with possibility and devoid of division.Together, they explore the intricate dance between individual change and collective evolution, shedding light on the role of community and the unifying power of music in the journey towards transformation. Justin challenges us to question the permanence of racism and introduces the concept of "othering" alongside the eight pillars of possibility, offering a fresh perspective on diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts that have fallen short.Listen in as we tune into the music of transformation, community, and the endless possibilities that await when we dare to listen deeply and act boldly.Topics We Break DownHarnessing Music as a Catalyst for Healing and Growth. The Crucial Role of Community in Personal and Societal Transformation.Personal Journeys of Transformation Through Melody and Rhythm. The Deep Emotional Resonance of Music and Its Healing Power.Amplifying Change Through Collective Musical Experiences.Envisioning and Working Towards a World Free of Racism.Reimagining Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Efforts for Genuine Change.Advancing Change by Calling People Forward, Not Out.Unpacking the Practice and Benefits of Mindfulness in Transformation.Integrating Mindfulness into Everyday Life for Balance and Fulfillment.

Together, they explored ways to dismantle systemic barriers and work toward solutions that promote healthy child development. Hello gorgeous! I'm so glad you're here today because I am so passionate about this topic, this idea, of differentiating between discipline and rigidity. This topic is such a crucial component in your healthy food and body journey, but it can also feel complicated. The gains are so worth it though, because when we can differentiate between discipline and rigidity things become a lot more clear. Now, if you have a history of struggling with food and body bullying, no matter where you fall on this spectrum, there's often a lot of healing you need to move through. This can sometimes bring up a lot of resistance or fear of pushing yourself, when it comes to food or exercise, because we don't want our healthy food and body goals to become obsessive or rigid. At the same time, we want to grow. So, in order to get to a peaceful space of growth, we need to learn how to differentiate between discipline and rigidity and get really clear on what those differences are. So today, I'm breaking down how to make this distinction so we can open the doors to food and body freedom! For the past few years, many of our conversations about transit in the Bay Area have been about how the various agencies are struggling… with funding shortfalls, lower ridership, and the possibility of massive service cuts as fiscal cliffs loom… Now, it's no secret that the COVID pandemic played a huge role in pushing transit agencies to the brink… but the aftereffects presented a question to us all – what will it take to ensure that transit in the Bay Area survives? That's a big question, of course, and a financial lifeline… to the tune of around 747 million dollars… is planned to be split up among several agencies… but the real saving grace will be getting more people on those buses and trains… So… in these tough times that seem to keep on going… are we seeing any improvement? Is a recovery to pre-pandemic numbers still possible? For the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency… the answer just might be yes… To give us an update on all things SFMTA, we're joined by Jeff Tumlin… director of transportation with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency…
I chatted with Isobel and Sam for almost three hours on a sunny Sunday afternoon. As with all of these interviews, straight out of the gate, we were into the nuts and bolts of the financial lives of this 56 and 57-year-old deeply-in-love couple who are parents to three adult tamariki. Very handily, Sam had sent me a four page Vision Board of their financial and life journey. To sum it up I'd say they are creative planners who work as a tight team towards their goal of creating a really strong financial footing by the age of 60. He said that he is like a balloon, impulsive and trying to float off in random directions, while she is the rock who grounds him. They are finally hitting their financial stride as they work their way towards a retirement of plenty. Their intention is to reach what is referred to in the early retirement community as Coast FIRE, where your already invested money will take you to FI by itself and for Sam and Isobel, the age they will reach this point is 60.

Our add-on food label distinguishes soil-grown fruits and vegetables from hydroponically-raised produce, and pasture-raised meat, milk, and eggs from products harvested from animals in horrific confinement (CAFOs - confined animal feeding operations). To find a Real Organic farm near you, please visit:https://www.realorganicproject.org/farmsWe believe that the organic standards, with their focus on soil health, biodiversity, and animal welfare were written as they should be, but that the current lack of enforcement of those standards is jeopardizing the ability for small farms who adhere to the law to stay in business. The lack of enforcement is also jeopardizing the overall health of the customers who support the organic movement; customers who are not getting what they pay for at market but still paying a premium price. And the lack of enforcement is jeopardizing the very cycles (water, air, nutrients) that Earth relies upon to provide us all with a place to live, by pushing extractive, chemical agriculture to the forefront. If you like what you hear and are feeling inspired, we would love for you to join our movement by becoming one of our 1,000 Real Friends:https://www.realorganicproject.org/real-organic-friends/To read our weekly newsletter (which might just be the most forwarded newsletter on the internet!) and get firsthand news about what's happening with organic food, farming and policy, please subscribe here:https://www.realorganicproject.org/email/
