Colorectal cancer is now the #1 cancer killer in Americans under 50 — and roughly 60% of cases are diagnosed at stage III or IV. What if your toilet could spot the earliest sign years before symptoms?Robert Lufkin MD sits down with Scott Hickle, co-founder and CEO of Throne Science, to talk about the first AI-powered smart toilet — a hands-free, daily monitor that detects fecal occult blood, tracks gut microbiome shifts, measures hydration and prostate health via sonouroflowmetry, and uses AI to coach behavior change. We unpack why your waste is the richest health signal you currently ignore, the Warren Buffett car-sensor analogy for continuous health monitoring, the 46% hemorrhoid risk from phone use on the toilet, and Throne's 10-year vision to be the first alarm system for cancer.CHAPTERS00:00 — Introduction01:14 — Meet Scott Hickle: From Mechanical Engineer to Smart Toilet CEO03:00 — How a Call With His Mom Sparked the Throne Idea05:02 — Why Your Waste Is the Richest Health Signal You Ignore07:02 — How Modern Plumbing Made Stool Analysis Taboo10:02 — Fecal Occult Blood: The Earliest Sign of Colorectal Cancer13:02 — Why Colorectal Cancer Is Now the #1 Cancer Killer Under 5014:30 — The Warren Buffett Car Sensor Analogy for Continuous Health Monitoring16:03 — Throne vs Gut Microbiome Tests: A CGM for Your Gut18:03 — Stress Is the #1 Driver of Gut Health (And Other Self-Experiments)22:04 — The 46% Hemorrhoid Risk From Phone Use on the Toilet24:04 — How the Throne Hardware and AI Software Actually Work27:00 — Sonouroflowmetry: Measuring Prostate Health From the Sound of Your Pee29:05 — Privacy, Data Security, and Camera Placement31:05 — Medical Advisors, Clinical Studies, and FDA Pathway34:06 — The AI Gut Health Coach and Behavior Change37:06 — The 10-Year Vision: A First Alarm System for Cancer40:07 — Where to Pre-Order Throne (thronescience.com)KEY TAKEAWAYSColorectal cancer is the only top-five cancer whose mortality has risen every year since 2005 — and it's now the #1 cancer killer in Americans under 50.Polyps take 7–10 years to become tumors. At a certain age, most women start getting regular cancer screenings: Mammograms, colonoscopies, pap smears…and yet, not for lung cancer, even though lung cancer is the most common cancer death among women in the U.S. There is currently no universal screening for lung cancer, and perhaps as a result, by the time most women are diagnosed, the prognosis is dire. For Shira Kupperman Boehler, her unexpected lung cancer diagnosis has spurred her from being a patient, to an author and policy reformer. Kupperman Boehler is founder of CANCER DOESN’T CARE, an initiative focused on advancing early lung cancer detection and prevention-focused health policy, and she is author of ONE SCAN SAVED MY LIFE: How One Woman’s Story Will Change The Way We Detect Lung Cancer.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Cancer is often most treatable when it's found early—but what if we could detect it before symptoms ever appear? Advances in genomics, blood-based biomarkers, and artificial intelligence are giving researchers new ways to identify cancer earlier, understand disease at a deeper level, and move beyond one-size-fits-all treatment approaches. In this conversation, Dr. Scott Penberthy, Dr. Lindsey Cotton, and Dr. Doug Flora explore how emerging technologies are reshaping cancer detection, precision medicine, drug discovery, and clinical decision-making. They discuss the growing role of multimodal AI, the promise of next-generation sequencing, and why the future of healthcare may depend on finding patterns humans simply cannot see on their own. The goal isn't just better technology—it's earlier intervention, more personalized care, and better outcomes for patients.

Dental insurance is no longer a simple benefit you explain at the front desk. It has become one of the most complex and frustrating parts of running a dental practice, and if you are not paying close attention, it is quietly costing you money, time, and peace of mind.In this episode, Art Wiederman sits down with Teresa Duncan to unpack what is really happening with dental insurance today and why so many practices feel overwhelmed. They discuss how employer selected plans are becoming more restrictive, why claims are being denied more frequently, and how poor documentation can hurt both revenue and legal protection. Teresa explains the critical differences between primary and secondary coverage, coordination of benefits, self funded plans, and why many dentists are unknowingly writing off more than they should. The conversation also dives into documentation standards, AI imaging, appeals strategies, and the importance of training your team to communicate insurance realities clearly and confidently to patients. If your accounts receivable are rising, your team is stressed, or you feel like insurance rules change every month, this episode will give you clarity and practical direction.Connect with Teresa DuncanWebsite: https://www.odysseymgmt.com/Dental Revenue Network: https://dentalrevenuenetwork.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@odysseymgmtNobody Told Me That Podcast: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJF_kSfpA7sJ-rfD-363OfhlFgH9bKWGNSpecial Offer: Get $75 off the Dental Insurance Design and Management course with code: ART--------------Looking for financial guidance from a team that truly understands dentistry? In this episode, we host Professor Meru Sheel to examine whether global health systems are prepared for the next major infectious-disease outbreak. Drawing on her work in infectious-disease epidemiology, vaccine research, emergency preparedness and global health security, Professor Sheel explores the difficult questions now facing governments, public-health agencies and international institutions: how quickly outbreaks can be detected, how effectively information is shared, and how public-health systems can respond before local emergencies become wider international crises. Set against the recent Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda, and the international response to the MV Hondius hantavirus outbreak, this conversation looks at the race between disease spread, surveillance, public trust and political coordination. We discuss why outbreaks test far more than medicine alone. Professor Sheel explains how public-health responses depend not only on vaccines, diagnostics and contact tracing, but also on logistics, risk communication, community engagement and trust in institutions. We explore the difference between individual severity and population-level risk, why a virus can be highly fatal without necessarily posing a pandemic-style threat, and why public-health messaging must warn people without creating panic. The episode also examines the role of the International Health Regulations, the World Health Organization, national governments and multidisciplinary response teams in managing complex, cross-border outbreaks involving cruise ships, repatriation, quarantine, clinical care and international contact tracing.Professor Meru Sheel is Professor of Infectious Diseases and Global Health at the University of Sydney. Her work focuses on epidemiology, vaccine research, outbreak preparedness, emergency response and immunisation systems, particularly across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. She has worked extensively on the relationship between routine vaccination systems and health emergency preparedness, and her research examines how surveillance, community engagement, vaccine delivery, public-health coordination and equity shape the ability of countries to prevent, detect and respond to infectious-disease threats. The International Risk Podcast brings you conversations with global experts, frontline practitioners, and senior decision-makers who are shaping how we understand and respond to international risk. From geopolitical instability and organised crime to cybersecurity threats and hybrid warfare, each episode explores the forces transforming our world and what smart leaders must do to navigate them. Dr. Rick Doblin (founder and president of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, and one of the most influential figures in psychedelic science) returns to Mayim Bialik's Breakdown for one of the most controversial and eye-opening conversations on psychedelics we've had yet. From the shocking experiment where scientists gave MDMA to an octopus, to why ibogaine may be the most powerful AND dangerous psychedelic ever studied, this episode explores the future of psychedelic therapy, trauma healing, addiction recovery, policy reform, and human consciousness itself. We break down Trump's new executive order accelerating psychedelic research and what it could mean for the future legalization of psychedelic-assisted therapy in America. Dr. Doblin explains why veterans suffering from PTSD and disabilities have become central to bipartisan support for psychedelics, and why this issue is now reshaping politics on both sides of the aisle. We also dive deep into ibogaine: its mysterious origins, its ability to help reset opioid addiction, its connection to ancestral memory and intergenerational trauma, why it carries serious risks, and why Dr. Doblin still believes its benefits may outweigh the dangers. He also shares his own profound ibogaine experience that helped him confront perfectionism and his fear of death.Dr. Doblin discusses:- How psychedelics help people integrate trauma- Why psychedelics are generally considered non-addictive- Difference between recreational vs therapeutic psychedelic use- Why psychedelic treatment should be customized to each patient- Importance of integration, peer support, and paying attention to dreams after treatment- Measures of success in MDMA-assisted couples therapy- Origins of the opioid epidemic- "Psychedelic churches": How organizations are openly operating under the umbrella of religion- Capitalism vs democratizing the benefits of psychedelic medicine- How a better psychedelic therapy model could be built- Why transparency is critical for science-backed drug policy reform- When psychedelics may realistically enter the open market- Dr. Doblin's long-term vision for a psychedelic-informed publicAs psychedelic research rapidly expands worldwide, this conversation explores the science, politics, risks, ethics, and revolutionary potential behind one of the fastest-growing movements in mental health and medicine!DISCLAIMER: MBB is not providing medical or legal advice. Chris Cuomo explains why he believes there will be no meaningful deal with Iran anytime soon, arguing that Trump's approach suffers from three major flaws: Iran's leadership doesn't trust him after he abandoned the original nuclear agreement, the United States entered this confrontation without the international coalition that made previous negotiations possible, and America lacks the political will to do what would actually be required to force regime change. Cuomo also challenges claims that Iran was only weeks away from a nuclear weapon and argues that the administration sold the public a far more urgent threat than the available intelligence supported. Cuomo breaks down the collapse of the JCPOA, the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, Israel's role in the conflict, and why he believes military action has left the United States with fewer options rather than more leverage. He also argues that Democrats are missing an opportunity to challenge Trump politically, urging them to stop focusing on outrage and start making a direct case that Trump's foreign policy, tariffs, and economic decisions are making life harder for ordinary Americans. According to Cuomo, the real political fight isn't about convincing voters to be offended by Trump — it's about convincing them that his policies are failing. #news #politics #iran #trump #cuomo Join The Chris Cuomo Project on YouTube for ad-free episodes, early releases, exclusive access to Chris, and more: https://www.youtube.com/@chriscuomo/join Follow and subscribe to The Chris Cuomo Project on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube for new episodes every Tuesday and Thursday: https://linktr.ee/cuomoproject Get 30% off Soul Mood Gummies at https://GetSoul.com with promo code CUOMO. On Club Random Classics, Bill Maher and Jerry Seinfeld get into the gift Bill gave Jerry, Jerry's obsessive attention to detail, the car he picked Bill up in for Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, and how both of their relationships to success, stand-up, and performing have evolved over time. They also talk about the mistakes Bill made reading comedy crowds, Lorne Michaels' philosophy on retirement, the ruthless side of Johnny Carson, whether bad crowds really exist, why people instinctively pick apart compliments, and the enduring wisdom of Marcus Aurelius. What makes patients trust a dentist enough to accept treatment, stay loyal for years, and refer everyone they know? In this episode, dental consultant Andrea Clasen shares lessons from nearly six decades in dentistry and explains why the most successful practices are built on communication, leadership, and genuine patient care instead of pressure or sales tactics.Andrea talks about the biggest mistakes dentists make during treatment presentations, why relationship building matters more than closing cases, and how strong communication between dentists, hygienists, and team members creates long term practice growth. She also explains how internal culture affects patient experience, why leadership sets the tone for the entire office, and how practices can increase production by improving systems instead of simply chasing more new patients.Throughout the conversation, Andrea shares practical insights on treatment acceptance, scheduling, patient retention, team culture, hygiene driven growth, and what separates average practices from truly exceptional ones. She also reflects on burnout in dentistry, mentoring younger dentists, and the importance of creating a practice where both patients and staff feel valued and respected.Connect with Andrea ClasenEmail: Andrea@Clasenconsulting.com--------------Looking for financial guidance from a team that truly understands dentistry? If you showed the same bitewing to 10 dentists, would they all agree on whether to pick up the drill? Why does the word monitoring mean nothing to a patient — and how does swapping it for active surveillance change everything from your notes to your indemnity to your government policy meetings? Is it overtreatment to act on an E2 lesion — or is “watch and wait” actually the lazy answer dressed up as minimally invasive? And what should you actually do with AI caries detection that flags shadows your eye doesn't see? In this episode, Professor Avijit Banerjee — Professor of Cariology & Operative Dentistry at King's College London, Honorary Consultant at Guy's & St Thomas', and First Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at the College of General Dentistry — sits down with Jaz for what is genuinely one of the most important caries conversations on the podcast. Part one of two. Avijit doesn't do soft answers. The drill-fill-bill model is broken. “Monitoring” needs to go. “Treatment planning” is antiquated terminology medics dropped twenty-five years ago. And AI in caries diagnosis? Useful — but the moment it gets things wrong, you are the one with indemnity, not the software. What you walk away with is a framework (MIOC), a decision filter (three factors that decide whether to pick up a bur), and a vocabulary shift you can implement tomorrow. Part two covers peptides, SDF, hydroxyapatite, stepwise excavation, and managing caries in xerostomia. https://youtu.be/YriLo8_hXNw Watch PDP268 on YouTube Protrusive Dental Pearl: Delete the Word “Monitor” from Your Vocabulary Stop saying monitor. Start saying active surveillance. ⚠️ Active surveillance must not mean passive delay — document your reasoning, risk assessment, and what would trigger intervention. ✅ Explain it to patients as structured, proactive care: clinical checks, radiographs, risk review, behaviour support, and timely action if things change. Key Takeaways Minimum intervention oral care is bigger than minimally invasive dentistry. MIOC is prevention-based, person-focused, susceptibility-related, and delivered by the whole oral healthcare team. MID is only one part of MIOC: operative dentistry when a tooth actually needs intervention. The four MIOC domains are: identify the problem, prevent lesions and control disease, provide minimally invasive operative care, then reassess. A care plan is more useful than a treatment plan because it includes justification, prevention, behaviour change, and review. Ask patients what matters to you, not just what's the matter with you. Cavitation, cleansability, and lesion activity should guide whether to intervene operatively. A cavitated lesion that cannot be cleaned is much more likely to remain active. Smooth surface lesions may sometimes be made cleansable without conventional drilling. Restorations are not just about filling holes; they help recreate a cleansable tooth surface. There is no single perfect caries detection technology — clinical examination and good radiographs remain fundamental. If using NIRI, fluorescence, scanners, or AI, understand how the technology works and where it fails. AI should support diagnosis, not replace clinical judgement. For uncertain early lesions, triangulate: clinical findings, radiographs, risk, technology, and patient factors. Proximal resin infiltration has a role in the right patient and situation, especially as part of a wider prevention-led strategy. The continued failure to detect WIMPs has led to a "Dark Crisis" and more speculative theories. Some scientists suggest dark matter could be primordial black holes formed during the Big Bang, or "fuzzy" dark matter made of extremely light particles. Challenges also arise from "dragonfly galaxies" like Dragonfly 44, which appear to lack dark matter entirely, a problem for both CDM and MOND theories. Physicist Erik Verlinde proposes emergent gravity, where gravity is not a fundamental force but emerges from a deeper level of reality, potentially removing the need for dark matter. Some fresh thinking suggests that MOND and CDM might even work in concert. As the search continues through deep-mine experiments, the ISS, and massive telescopes in Chile, theorists remain at a frontier of trying to explain why 95% of the universe remains invisible. Most banks think they have an attrition problem under control because the closure numbers still look healthy. But customers are not leaving the way they used to. They are opening accounts at Chime, SoFi, Robinhood, Cash App, and Acorns while keeping their old bank relationship open. The direct deposit stays, and the account stays active, and even the dashboard says everything is fine. Meanwhile, more spending, more engagement, and more deposits quietly move somewhere else. In this episode, I break down what I call “silent attrition” and why the first outbound transfer matters more than the eventual account closure. Using data from J.D. Power, Cornerstone Advisors, Accenture, and a real-world engagement with a $10 billion institution, I explain why traditional retention metrics no longer reflect customer reality, how challenger brands are winning share of wallet without triggering alarms, and what banks can do right now to identify customers who are already halfway out the door. Because by the time the account closes, the relationship has usually been gone for years. #Banking #DigitalBanking #Fintech #CX #AI #CustomerRetention #attrition #BankTransformation
In this episode, Dr. Steve Judson and Dr. Drew Henderson come back fired up from Sherman College and their first official IFCO board meeting — and they have a message for every chiropractic student listening: you are not alone. The profession has always been messy. The politics, the infighting, the organizations trading the principle for a seat at a table where the food is poisoned. Dr. Sid saw it in 1966. We're still seeing it today. But here's what else Dr. Sid saw — that when principled chiropractors stop arguing about who's at whose table and come together around the one thing that matters, this profession will blow up. Detect the subluxation. Correct it. Leave it alone. That's chiropractic. Everything else is noise. Dr. Steve reads the paper his daughter wrote on the big idea — and cries. She didn't write it in the hours she sat down. She wrote it in 22 years of being carried into rooms where the principle was alive. That's the legacy being built. One student at a time. One adjustment at a time. One DE at a time. You don't have to suffer through 10 years of practice before you find this. Come now. Show up now. We'll teach you for free. It's time to Wake Up Humans — join up, show up, and become the chiropractor this profession has always needed you to be. How's your Atlas? Learn more at drstevejudson.com and check out Steve Judson's books and gear.
Chris Cuomo lays out the top five ways Donald Trump is screwing the MAGA movement that put him in office — the fundamental failures that will define the midterms, not the daily noise. Chris walks through the death of America First, a war in Iran Trump promised he'd never start, the spending and debt that has betrayed every conservative principle, a healthcare crisis Trump is ignoring, and the way he has actively coarsened American politics itself. Cuomo argues that MAGA voters are being abandoned in real time by the man they trusted most — and that the populist demand that fueled MAGA in the first place is going to be looking for someone honest enough to meet it. Plus the bonuses Cuomo couldn't fit in the five: why Tucker Carlson is already distancing himself from Trump, what the Epstein files actually say about broken promises, and why the next iteration of the Republican Party may pretend Trump was never their guy. Ever wonder why some dental practices thrive while others feel stuck no matter how hard the doctor works? The difference is rarely talent and almost always comes down to mindset, leadership, and systems. In this episode, we dive into what truly drives profitability and growth in a dental practice. Success is not about working harder but about diagnosing effectively, building strong case acceptance, and creating systems that support consistent results. Many dentists struggle with low production not because they lack patients, but because they underdiagnose or fail to confidently present treatment. Confidence and communication play a major role in whether patients say yes. Beyond that, leadership is the backbone of every successful practice. A clear vision, accountability, and strong culture determine whether a team thrives or falls apart. Even one negative team member can impact morale and performance across the entire office. Systems also play a critical role, but they must be implemented strategically based on data, not guesswork. When practices align vision, numbers, and systems while maintaining a strong culture, profitability naturally follows. Ultimately, growth comes from small consistent actions, ownership, and a willingness to make difficult but necessary decisions.Connect with Kiera DentThe Dental A Team Podcast: https://www.thedentalateam.com/dental-podcast/Website TheDentalATeam.comContact Number: 775 243 5100--------------Looking for financial guidance from a team that truly understands dentistry? In this episode, Dr. Steve Judson reads a 60-year-old article written by Dr. Sid in August of 1966 — and every word sounds like it was written this morning. The profession in the hands of Pharisees. Leadership that waters down the principle to keep a seat at the table. Young chiropractors full of fire getting tapped on the head and told to sit down. History doesn't just repeat — it's on a loop. But Dr. Steve isn't reading this to complain. He's reading it because the answer is the same now as it was then. Stop seeking outside approval. Stop diluting the principle to be accepted. Stop arguing about who gets to sit at whose table. Come together — not around politics or programs or pocketbooks — but around the one thing that has always been true. Detect the subluxation. Correct it. Leave it alone. See you next week. Imagine if Dr. Sid and Reggie Gold had worked together. Imagine what the profession looks like when the splintered few finally unite. The house is burning. Helen Keller has her back to you. Get in front of them and make them feel it. It's time to Wake Up Humans — join up, show up, and let's build this thing together once and for all. How's your Atlas? Learn more at drstevejudson.com and check out Steve Judson's books and gear.

Louisa Nicola is a neurophysiologist, performance specialist, and founder of Neuro Athletics, a company focused on brain optimization and neurophysiology for elite performers. A former professional triathlete, Nicola's early career in endurance sport shaped her belief that peak performance is driven as much by the brain as by the body. Her transition from elite competition to neuroscience was fueled by a desire to understand the neurological foundations of reaction time, resilience, recovery, and long-term cognitive health. Through Neuro Athletics, she works with professional athletes, sports organizations, executives, and high performers to implement measurable brain-based training protocols. Her work includes cognitive performance testing, visual processing and reaction training, nervous system regulation, and concussion recovery strategies. Nicola emphasizes objective brain metrics over subjective feedback, bringing scientific rigor to performance optimization. She is also the host of The Neuro Experience podcast, where she interviews leading neuroscientists, physicians, and longevity experts. A significant focus of her public work centers on Alzheimer's prevention and cognitive decline. Nicola advocates for early baseline testing, cardiovascular and metabolic health, strength and aerobic training to increase BDNF, sleep optimization, inflammation reduction, and lifelong cognitive engagement. She frequently highlights the disproportionate risk women face in Alzheimer's disease and calls for greater awareness around hormonal and midlife cognitive vulnerability. Nicola frames brain health as a lifelong discipline, connecting elite performance principles with long-term cognitive resilience and positioning brain optimization not as a reactive measure, but as a proactive strategy beginning in early adulthood. Most of medicine is built around snapshots. You feel something, you test for it, and by the time you find it, you're already behind. But what if the problem isn't the test—it's how we use it? In this episode, I sit down with physicist and imaging pioneer Dr. Daniel Sodickson, Chief Medical Scientist at Function Health and author of The Future of Seeing. We break down why tools like MRI are shifting from one-time scans to something far more powerful: tracking your health over time. Watch the full conversation on YouTube, or listen wherever you get your podcasts. In this episode, we cover: • Why waiting for symptoms puts you behind—and how to get ahead • What an MRI can reveal about your body that bloodwork can't • How tracking your health over time helps you catch problems sooner • Why having a baseline could change the way you make health decisions • What it means to shift from reacting to disease to actually predicting it When you stop looking at a single result and start looking at patterns, you can catch changes earlier, reduce false alarms, and better predict where your health is headed. Dr. Jeremiah J. Johnston is a world-renowned scholar on the Historical Jesus, specializing in archaeology, ancient history, and the New Testament. In 2026, Dr. Johnston became the only academic invited to present evidence for Jesus and the Resurrection at the World Economic Forum in Davos—bringing the Gospel into one of the most influential global stages. His evidence-based approach bridges rigorous research and compelling communication, making the case for faith both intellectually credible and spiritually transformative. He is the author of The Jesus Discoveries: 10 Historic Finds That Bring Us Face-to-Face with Jesus, which highlights top archaeological discoveries corroborating the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus outside the biblical record. Known for his evidence-first, no-nonsense style, Dr. Johnston powerfully confronts myths and cultural skepticism while offering hope and clarity in an age of confusion. A hands-on scholar, he uses authentic and replica artifacts; such as the Shroud of Turin, crucifixion nails, the Titulus Crucis, the Pilate Stone, ossuaries, early New Testament papyri, Dead Sea Scroll facsimiles, and Roman coins. to bring history alive in vivid detail. His passion is showing how fresh discoveries, like the Shroud's fading image, inscriptions mocking early Christians, and coins tied to Gospel events—continue to strengthen the historical case for Jesus Christ.
