Bren Foster is a man on a mission. Fresh from the positive reactions to his blistering 2024 martial arts revenge drama, 'Life After Fighting' - which also marked his directorial debut - Bren is now keen to show the world a new kind of action hero. The former soap star, who made his name on shows like 'Days of Our Lives' and 'Home and Away', is now capitalising on his incredible martial arts abilities to star in more fight films. His next will be an MMA actioner with Russell Crowe and Luke Hemsworth, called 'Beast in Me', in which he also provides fight choreography. This will be music to the ears of many martial arts movie fans who, before 'Life After Fighting', could only glimpse at Foster's extraordinary physical abilities in small bursts - like on the documentary series, 'Fight Science', or his roles in two Steven Seagal films, 'Maximum Conviction' and 'Force of Execution', or on the small screen in the series, 'The Last Ship'. If anything, 'Life After Fighting' saw Bren making up for lost time, throwing himself into every aspect of the film - providing roles for his own family and casting many of his students, and even filming at his own martial arts school. As well directing, he writes, stars, produces, and provides fight choreography. Despite its low budget, the film still packs a major punch, and was one of my favourite fight films of 2024. We discuss a life dedicated to the martial arts and competition, the toils of low-budget filmmaking, working with Steven Seagal, and his next steps in an already fascinating career.LINKSBren Foster on IMDb: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1248409/Bren Foster on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/brenfosterreal/Bren Foster on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/brenfosterofficialBren Foster profile on Kung Fu Movie Guide: http://kungfumovieguide.com/profile-bren-foster/ Bren Foster on 'Fight Science': https://youtu.be/cU4j-t2oYA0'Life After Fighting' trailer: https://youtu.be/KMdiYlC_cA8'Life After Fighting' review on Kung Fu Movie Guide: http://kungfumovieguide.com/life-after-fighting-2024/Watch 'Life After Fighting' on Paramount Plus UK: https://www.paramountplus.com/gb/movies/video/JPOVHXAdlJw50eEVsCzk8tXMySV_yp9P/ Hosted on Acast. 2024 has been the year of surprises and films exceeding our expectations in terms of martial arts cinema. First, we had ‘Twilight Warriors: Walled In' which ended up being an INCREDIBLE film that we honestly both went into expecting to be disappointed. Instead, we were treated to one of our favorite martial arts movies of the past decade! Then we had ‘Officer Black Belt', which came out of NOWHERE and gave us one of the most moving and powerful narratives to ever be told in the martial arts film genre! Now, we have another contender for best flick of the year, and this one is going to BLOW YOUR MIND! Hailing from the land down under, and bringing some insane martial arts thunder, is one of the GREATEST straight to video films we've ever witnessed, ‘Life After Fighting'! Directed by, written by, and starring martial arts maestro Bren Foster, this explosive fight fest brings an onslaught of martial arts melees at the highest level, both in terms of choreography and execution, as well as a moving story with characters that you are truly invested in. Throw in an atrociously vicious and vile villain, and strong performances that exceed the expectations of the genre, and everyone can find something to enjoy in this truly compelling picture. Oh, and did we mention that there is a BALLS-TO-THE-WALL 25 MINUTE LONG FINALE?! Streaming stateside on Tubi TV, you must do yourself a favor and watch this one as soon as possible! Don't forget to subscribe, download, like, and share with your friends! Thanks again for your continued support and we hope you enjoy!
It's a deeper cut this week as we dive straight into a smaller, VOD action gem with Bren Foster's kinetic martial arts actioner, Life After Fighting. We review this by-your-bootstraps indie gem that puts big budget blockbusters to shame with its brutal confidence and unbelievable choreography. We're giving away what we thought about it right here, but that's because we want all of you action fans to see this immediately.
We talk with writer/ director/ marshal artist Bren Foster about his new action film Life After Fighting.
Are you ready for high-octane action that'll keep you on the edge of your seat? In this episode I dive into Life After Fighting, an Australian martial arts thriller directed by the legendary A Bren Foster. With intense fight scenes, a gripping plot, and a no-holds-barred approach, this movie delivers 120 minutes of pure, unfiltered action. I break down the story of retired martial arts champion Alex Faulkner, who's pulled back into the world of violence when two of his students go missing, leading to the discovery of an international child trafficking ring. From brutal hand-to-hand combat to a thrilling showdown, this film is a must-watch for fans of IP Man, John Wick, and The Forbidden Kingdom. Join me as I discuss the film's highlights, including its incredible fight choreography, the lack of CGI, and the dark, gritty moments that make this movie a standout. ========================== Lets Connect
linktr.ee/CatchingUpOnCinema This week, Trevor conducts a solo review, of Bren Foster's, Life After Fighting (2024)! Written, directed by, and starring Australian actor/martial artist, Bren Foster, Life After Fighting (2024) is a surprisingly dark and well-acted drama about child trafficking, that also happens to feature 40 minutes of top notch martial arts choreography. Feeling like an attempted launchpad into the coveted realm of “action star” status for writer/director/star Bren Foster, Life After Fighting serves as a fine showcase of his talents, albeit one that is perhaps a half hour too long, and perhaps not the appropriate subject matter to pair with his flashy (and sharply executed) brand of fight choreography. It's an "excellent" adventure on this episode of BEHIND THE LENS thanks to director ALEX WINTER who's live talking about his latest doc TRUST MACHINE: THE STORY OF BLOCKCHAIN. Plus, hear from legendary sound designer and composer ALAN HOWARTH talk about his early years in music which have led him to be inducted into the ROCKGODZ HALL OF FAME this weekend. And a final check-in with actor BREN FOSTER as he reflects on his days aboard THE LAST SHIP and his beloved character of Wolf Taylor. Throughout the first half of the show, take a listen to excerpts of our exclusive interview with actor BREN FOSTER as he reminisces about THE LAST SHIP, which went out with a bang on November 11, 2018, after a hugely successful five-year run. From creating and developing his character of Wolf Taylor to the memories he'll cherish from his years on the show, it's as candid and touching as can be. And then we've got ALAN HOWARTH. Legend. Pioneer. No one word can describe the multi-talented, multi-faceted Alan. His career began in music playing in numerous bands in the 60's, some successful enough to be opening acts for Steppenwolf, The Who, The Cream. But he was also one of the pioneers in synthesizers (popularized most notably by Hans Zimmer). The combination of music and performance and his technical expertise with designing synthesizers eventually led him to Hollywood as the creator of the sound of the USS Enterprise on "Star Trek". The rest, as they say, is history as Alan has gone on to become one of the most acclaimed sound effects designers and sound designers, not to mention composers, in the arts today. And this weekend on November 18 at The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, Alan will be inducted into the ROCKGODZ HALL OF FAME as one of the celebrated unsung heroes behind Rock and Roll's most legendary musicians and most famous instrumentation on chart-topping albums. Take a listen as Alan talks about his pioneering road of the past 50 years. But look out as things get really "excellent" at the midpoint of the show when ALEX WINTER joins us live. You know him best as William "Bill" S. Preston in the "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" franchise (and yes, fans, there is a third one on the way and Alex has some tidbits on it for us), but did you also know Alex is a lauded documentary filmmaker? Already very well versed in the internet and its various uses and ins and outs as seen in two of his prior documentaries "Downloaded" and "Dark Web", with TRUST MACHINE, Alex now delves into the world of cryptocurrency and the concept of "blockchain". Informative, educational, and entertaining, listen as Alex talks about the focus of the film and what blockchain is, focusing on the story of an individual (in this case, Lauri Love) versus impersonal graphs and charts and statistics, the editing process, his interest and fascination in documentaries, and more. http://behindthelensonline.net http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com
