Hello one and all. Well we did it we finally got around to releasing our Valentine's Day episode. How did we ring in the most lovey dovey of holidays you ask? Well we watched Heart Eyes a Valentine's Day slasher that joins the illustrious list of films which includes My Bloody Valentine, it's remake, Valentine, X-ray, and Lover's Lane. We watched it but did we like it and did it scare Cyndi to death? Join us to find out.
We continue our series looking back at some of the most noteworthy horror movies of 2025 (#2025stillalive) by discussing the latest feature from Josh Ruben (of Werewolves Within). HEART EYES is a rather lightweight film with an ambitious goal: to make a film that is both a romantic comedy and a slasher. Although the balance is sometimes a bit off, the film impressively succeeds at being funny, charming, suspenseful, and fun. We're joined by returning guests, novelists Nick Medina and Christina Henry, to discuss what works and doesn't about this unique cocktail as well as what the film might entice us to think about in this age of trivial social media sentiments and our tendencies to romanticize dangerous things. Also featuring friend of the show Andrew Nelson in a Patron-only segment discussing STRANGER THINGS, Season 5, Episode 5, this is a fun and breezy conversation that we really hope you'll enjoy.3:28 - Upcoming works from Christina Henry and Nick Medina7:10 - Whatcha Watchin' / Readin' / Listenin' ToPatron Only Segment: STRANGER THINGS, Season 5, Episode 522:00 - HEART EYESSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

We're back for a Valentine's Day episode. We covered "Heart Eyes" from 2025. What a delightful little comedy/slasher movie! When Jay and Ally are forced to work together to save a failing ad campaign for jewelry, they end up getting stalked by a masked killer who targets couples in love. Can they survive Valentine's Day trying to convince the killer they're not actually a couple but at the same time falling for each other? Yeah, probably. And we talked all about it. A couple things in the movie didn't quite make sense, but hey, that's what slasher movies do! Don't blame us! Love isn't soft this week — it's sharp. In Valentine's Week Horror History (Feb 9–15), we trace the anniversaries where romance curdles into obsession, suburbia turns sinister, and the holiday's heart-shaped sheen hides something mean underneath.Inside this episode (Quick Hits + Spotlight):Feb 11, 1981 — My Bloody Valentine: blue-collar slasher dread in a mining town where the tunnels feel alive and the “tradition” is murder. (U.S. this week: free via Kanopy / buy-rent on major VOD.) Feb 13, 2009 — Friday the 13th (reboot): Jason's modern-era brutality — fast, nasty, and built like a greatest-hits mixtape of the franchise's worst impulses. (U.S. this week: Netflix and Tubi, plus VOD.) Feb 14, 1991 — The Silence of the Lambs: prestige terror and psychological horror that changed the culture — and proved “thriller” can still be nightmare fuel. (U.S. this week: AMC+.) Feb 13, 2019 — Happy Death Day 2U: time-loop mayhem with real heart and a wicked sense of humor. (U.S. this week: HBO Max.) Deep-Cut Spotlight:Feb 12, 1975 — The Stepford Wives: no monster suit required — just a perfect town, perfect smiles, and a nightmare hiding behind domestic bliss. (U.S. this week: Tubi.) Birthday Roll (4): Emma Roberts (1991), Natalie Dormer (1982), Simon Pegg (1970), Claire Bloom (1931).Weekly Recommendation (Valentine's “bouquet” stack): Misery (1990) (MGM+), Audition (1999), The Fly (1986) (Tubi), plus modern Valentine carnage with Heart Eyes (2025) (Netflix) and Companion (2025) (HBO Max). If you like your romance with slashers, psychological dread, body horror, and suburban nightmares, this week's timeline is a whole box of chocolates… and at least one of them bites back.

Our newest movie, Heart Eyes, belongs to a new category of horror that we are calling horror light. It had a couple jump scares and some gore, but most people will be able to watch it with minimal problems. That is where we differ: one of us prefers to be scared out of her wits, and the other one likes to fall asleep easily. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that one of us liked this movie, and the other was just okay with it. This is a cute date-night movie and has something for everyone! Paired with a Bleeding Heart cocktail and a Pikachu cocktail (since the Bleeding Heart sucked). Please forgive our sound quality issues!!! Rate! Review! Follow! The Geekz slash into our 31 Days of Horror marathon with Heart Eyes (2025) — a Valentine's Day killer flick where romance turns deadly. As couples and singles gear up for February 14th, a masked murderer begins staging grisly, heart-themed kills, leaving a trail of clues that point to a ruthless motive buried beneath the roses and chocolates. In our review, we break down the whodunit mystery, tension-filled set pieces, and standout performances from Mason Gooding and Olivia Holt. Does Heart Eyes deliver a new holiday slasher classic in the vein of My Bloody Valentine, or does it miss the mark? We unpack the pacing, kills, twists, and where it lands in the modern slasher wave.
Josh Ruben (comedian! Director! Heart Eyes! Werewolves Within!) makes it weird again!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
