Brooks Buser shares lessons from missionary work in Papua New Guinea, the world's most linguistically and culturally diverse nation. Having settled among the Yembiyembi people and been adopted into their clan system, Buser identifies six key principles three that explain why missionaries fail and three that demonstrate how missionaries can succeed. Buser's experience navigating language acquisition, cultural integration, and sustained missionary presence reveals both the common pitfalls and proven pathways for long-term effectiveness in cross-cultural ministry. Evaluate your approach to cross-cultural ministry against the tested patterns of what enables missionaries to see the finish line. Scripture: Deuteronomy 31:6; Matthew 28:20; John 12 Topics: Missions, Cross-cultural ministry, Papua New Guinea, Language learning, Perseverance

Brooks Buser examines language as both barrier and key to gospel expansion. Working with Radius International to help missionaries learn language and culture, Buser demonstrates why linguistic skill directly determines gospel effectiveness. Language proficiency separates clear gospel communication from muffled, ineffective witness. Valuing language means valuing the gospel's spread, as words are the vehicles through which faith is communicated across cultures. Commit to learning language with gospel intentionality, whether at home or on the mission field. Scripture: Matthew 28 Topics: Language, Gospel Communication, Missions, Culture, Barriers

Sermon Review - Romans 10 10-15 - Gods Glory To The Ends Of The Earth Brooks Buser
This morning we are returning to an annual sermon series we refer to as our New Year Essentials. These sermons address subjects to which we must repeatedly return for the glory of God and the transformation of lives. These are different sermons, taking different angles, on issues we need to come back to again-and-again. Today, we'll hear from Brooks Buser, the president of Radius International and DCC’s main missions training partner, on missions and the local church. Audio | Notes | Romans 10: 13 - 15
Sermon preached by Brooks Buser at the Evangelical Christian Church of Dubai on Isaiah 49:1-6.
In this insightful conversation, Jonny Ardavanis sits down with missionary Brooks Buser to discuss the local church's vital role in global missions. Brooks, who served 13 years as a missionary among the Yembi people, shares practical wisdom on:Key Topics Covered: • Why missions should flow from local churches, not independent efforts • The four primary lanes of modern missions work • How to move from "naval gazing" to global vision as a church • Practical ways families can "hold the rope" for missionaries • Creating sustainable missions budgets and policies • Quality vs. quantity: Why fewer, deeper partnerships work better • What missionaries actually need when they return homePerfect for: • Pastors developing missions strategies • Church members wanting to engage in global missions • Anyone interested in biblical approaches to sending and supporting missionariesBrooks emphasizes that effective missions requires both "goers and senders" working together, with local churches serving as the primary sending agents rather than just financial supporters.

Brooks Buser presents a condensed yet powerful session on the vital task of Bible translation for unreached language groups. Drawing from his experience as a lead translator, he outlines the essential prerequisites for translation, including a deep knowledge of both the Bible and the local language, as well as the importance of accuracy and meaning in translation. Brooks Buser, President of , says the best missionaries smell like the local people they have gone to serve. They focus not just on learning a language but understanding and living the culture, eating local food and joining in the things that fuel human interaction in that place. Buser says just as Christ came as a human baby into this world, missionaries that last become like those they are trying to reach for the sake of the gospel. Before leading Radius, Brooks was a missionary kid in Papua New Guinea. As an adult he went back to PNG as a missionary to the YembiYembi people with New Tribes Mission (now Ethnos360). Listen as he shares the hardest challenges of missions and his own experience immersing himself in the culture of the Yembi people. With the goal of teaching them the Bible, his team first had to learn their language, culture, and integrate into their new clan families. that tells the story of Brooks and his family's mission work in Papua New Guinea. One of the things new YembiYembi Christians faced early in their faith journey was persecution. But Brooks sees that Christian persecution as a blessing rather than a curse. Today, Brooks leads Radius International as they train mission workers—in multiple languages, to be sent by multiple mission agencies—to go with the gospel to the ends of the earth. Part of that training is a language learning methodology that immerses future missionaries in a local language like Spanish, giving them tools and training to quickly learn the language of the place where God will call them to serve as missionaries. Brooks will also describe the qualities he looks for that point to successful long-term mission service and how he prays for those who commit to gospel work. Pray for future missionaries and Radius International's training schools as they prepare students to share the gospel in the heart language of the people God calls them to serve. Brooks will be one of the speakers for , to be held October 16-18th in Jacksonville, Florida.
