Life moves through seasons, and God has a distinct purpose for each one. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that there is a time for every activity under heaven, and Numbers 8 gives us a surprisingly practical picture of this through the lives of the Levites. Their service followed a clear arc: a time to prepare, a time to work, and a time to coach. These three seasons map directly onto the rhythms of our own lives, and understanding them can change the way we approach wherever we find ourselves right now.The preparation season is where foundations are built. Just as David faced lions and bears before Goliath, and just as Jesus spent 30 years of life before His public ministry began, preparation is not wasted time. It is essential time. God is shaping character, building habits, and developing faith that can hold up under pressure. The playing season is where preparation gives way to participation. Colossians 3 calls us to do everything from the heart as something done for the Lord. Your job is a platform, your neighborhood is a mission field, and the season you are in right now is the assignment. A critical reminder in this season is that your identity must remain rooted in Christ, not in your title or your role, because when that role ends, only what is built on Him will remain.The coaching season is not a lesser season but a deeply valuable redirection. Numbers 8 describes how the Levites shifted from doing the heavy work to assisting and guiding others. Moses poured into Joshua. Elijah poured into Elisha. Paul poured into Timothy. Psalm 145:4 calls one generation to declare God's works to the next. The wisdom that comes with age and experience is a gift, and the coaching season is the opportunity to pass it on. No matter which season you are in, the invitation is the same: trust God with it, be faithful in it, and keep your foundation in Jesus Christ, because every good season begins and ends with Him.

Episode 243Series: On the Mission Field - 32In the Basque Country of northern Spain, Missionary Daniel Darling and his family are faithfully serving the Lord. Saved at the age of four, Daniel Darling went on a missions trip to Bilbao, Spain as a young married man. He returned to the states, but the Lord was already hard at work on his heart about returning there to serve. He and his family obeyed the Lord and are now living in southern France near the Spanish border of Basque Country. There are many cultural and religious elements that play into his work of sharing the gospel; some elements are significant barriers to salvation while others are might be considered mere inconveniences. One thing is consistent, however: there are many souls in that country that, despite the permeation of Catholicism into almost all areas of life, have no idea what the church really is and how Jesus' sacrifice on the cross made full payment for sin. Daniel's work there seeks to change that. We all have a calling, have you heard this before? Some of us get called to the pulpit and some to the foreign mission field but most of us get called to our cubicles, construction sites, care facilities or whatever your job site may be. Your Workplace, It's your mission field and in that mission field, you and me, we may be the only Jesus our co-workers, employees and bosses may ever meet. That Job that you hold and the work that you do, and the people that you work with, none of that is by chance. The people that you work with need to meet Jesus and you may be their only chance. So, as you contemplate the value of your work today, realize this…You don't need to quit your job in order to go into fulltime ministry. You are already in fulltime ministry, right there where you work.
“We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.” (2 Corinthians 4:7 NLT) Because Jesus lives, everyone who believes in Him has amazing news to share with others. The same gospel that led to our salvation can—and must—lead to theirs. And the responsibility for spreading that gospel falls to us, whether we feel qualified to do so or not. When the apostles Peter and John were brought before the Sanhedrin, it was a source of complete amazement that these untrained laymen could be so well-versed in Scripture, and more importantly, in their understanding of it. They were ordinary fishermen, blue-collar, salt-of-the-earth type people. This doesn’t mean they were illiterate. But they hadn’t attended the rabbinical schools or spent their lives in the study of Scripture. Acts 4:13 tells us that when the religious leaders of Israel “saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus” (NKJV). These simple fishermen appeared to be better equipped than the professionals were. How did this happen? The disciples had been with Jesus. They were boldly sharing their faith. They knew the Scriptures. They were men who prayed. When God called Moses to lead the people of Israel out of slavery in Egypt, Moses offered some compelling reasons as to why he was the wrong person for the job. What they all boiled down to was this: “I am nobody” (see Exodus 3:11). In other words, he was just an ordinary guy. But look what God did with that ordinary guy. This should give hope and encouragement to those who think of themselves as ordinary people. Maybe God hasn’t called you to be a pastor, a missionary, or to some professional ministry position. But God can use you, too. It’s clear that He’s looking for ordinary men and women to bring the gospel message to others. The apostle Paul wrote, “We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves” (2 Corinthians 4:7 NLT). God specializes in using broken and imperfect people to accomplish His work and His will. He sees the qualities in us that we cannot see ourselves. He knows exactly what we’re capable of and how to maximize our potential. God can use you where you are, and the opportunities before you are countless. There is a mission field where you work, where you go to school, and in your neighborhood. You are God’s representative, and He is calling you to go into this world and speak up for Him. God isn’t looking so much for ability as He is looking for availability.
