Work towards a balance, v. 1-2 Encouragement does five things…a) provides awarenessb) creates beliefc) builds confidenced) improves attitudee) promotes action1) Election (God's choice of people to be saved)2) The gospel call (proclaiming the message of the gospel)3) Regeneration (being born again)4) Conversation (faith and repentance)5) Justification (right legal standing)6) Adoption (membership in God's family)7) Sanctification (right conduct of life)8) Perseverance (remaining a Christian)9) Death (going to be with the Lord)10) Glorification (receinbg a resurrection body)“But what happens when we think faith saves us? Sincerity becomes paramount. We begin to think of faith as a single act- a prayer prayed, a decision made, a card signed, a hand raised-rather than as a whole-life orientation. The trouble is, we can never be sure if we were sincere enough. So insecurity follows, and a culture of rededication develops. Anxious children pray “the prayer” over and over. Youth re-dedicate themselves at every youth retreat. Adults do the same. All are hoping that this time the expression of faith will be sincere enough.”     -Michael Lawrence, Conversion:  How God Creates A People3. Surround yourself with encouraging reminders, v. 3-64. Church membership can often seem like the first step to joining an exclusive club. In reality, it is nothing like that, but so much more! Scripture is clear about many things that have to do with the function of the church. Though membership is never explicitly stated, it is very clear that there was structure within the early church. With the help of guest Michael Lawrence, Rick asks the hard questions about church membership and it's role in the local church and God's Kingdom at large. May 28, 2023Acts 5:11-42The Fruit of Fearing God1. Conversion, v. 14-16“Too often our confessional theology says one thing, while our practical theology says something else. We say that regeneration makes us new creatures in Christ, but then we teach our kids a moralism that atheists could duplicate. We say that Christianity is about a trusting relationship with Jesus, but then we treat it like checking a box on a decision card. We say that only the Holy Spirit transfers a person from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light, but then we employ the marketing tools used for getting someone to switch brands of toothpaste. Again and again what we claim in our doctrinal statements about conversion doesn't match what our churches practice or their ministry models. So it shouldn't surprise us that our kids end up being something less than Christian.”              -Michael Lawrence, ConversionThe appeal of nice is based on three ideas...an optimistic view of human beingsa domesticated view of Goda view of religion as a means of moral self-reform2. “this Life” gets taught, v. 17-26Zoe life refers to the absolute fulness of life, both essential and ethical, which belongs to God; life real and genuine, a life active and vigorous, devoted to God, blessed. This life also involved things we see in this section like...jealousy, v 17 imprisonment, v. 18deliverance, v. 19instruction, v. 20the unexplainable, v. 24respect, v. 263. Consistency, v. 27-39 “We must obey God rather than man.”4. She has been in the industry for over a decade but recently launched her brand and company RF Queens. They talk about her path into the world of RF, how she identified a need in the market for remote RF services, some of the key tools she uses,  her aspirations of touring with the largest tours in the world, and more. Jess has always been passionate about helping others grow and learn but also feel supported in the entertainment industry; she's noticed of the years a lack of female presences in the industry, so she went out to create a door for more to join the industry, especially those who are feminine-identifying working or wanting to work in the Events industry. She then founded The Tech Sisters in 2018, a group that empowers all feminine-identifying backstage "event heroes" since its creation, the group has grown to have over 1400 members; you should check out the Group on Facebook if you wish to join the community.Learn more about RF Queens here https://www.rfqueens.net/This episode is sponsored by  Allen & Heath, and RCFJoin our Discord Server and our Facebook Group, and Follow us on InstagramPlease check out and support The Roadie Clinic, Their mission is simple.
