The Musafir Stories - India Travel Podcast

This week, The Musafir Stories speaks with Saloni Prasad, curator at the Surat Heritage Project as she talks about the story of Surat, through a fascinating heritage walk! Today's destination: Surat Nearest Airport: Surat International Airport (STV) Nearest Railway Station: Surat Station (ST) Prerequisites:  N/A Packing: Good walking shoes, carry extra water as it can get hot during the day in the summers Time of the year: Round the year, check Instagram for details Length of the itinerary: 2-3 hours Itinerary Highlights:  We start off the walk by talking about the history and golden era of Surat - a port town on the banks of river Tapi or Tapti. Although Surat has existed for a long time, the documented history seems to suggest important structures being built around the 14th century.  The first stop of the walk is the Surat castle or Surat fort, indicating that Surat was once a walled city and is believed to have been built during the time of Gujarat Sultanate in the 16th century by a Turkish governor/general turned associate of the ruler, Khudavand Khan. The remaining structure is now a museum and has several interesting galleries, including a gallery of archives, textiles, pictures, and woodwork among others.  From the Surat fort, we move to Andrew's library, built over 200 years ago during the British rule of the city and is a functional library. Close to the library is the CNI church or Anglican church, one of the oldest churches in the city built in the 1800s.  The banks of the river Tapi are in the vicinity and one can walk here to experience the ghats of Surat. We also speak of the first warehouse of the British in India that was built in this region, although the warehouse/factory doesn't exist anymore but is a marker of an important landmark in Indian history.  We also talk briefly about the battle of Swally which is not too far away from here - one of the first battles between the Portuguese and the British forces fighting on the side of the Moguls. Another iconic event that perhaps does have long-lasting repercussions similar to the battle of Plassey.  We speak about the Ghanta ovara, custom house and mint house and how a day in the ancient port city would've looked like.  The next stop is the Mughalsarai, which is currently the office of the SMC or Surat Municipal Corporation. The original building was built as a travel lodge or musafir khana - primarily used as a hostel for pilgrims who would board ships to Mecca. This was built by Jahanara, the eldest daughter of Shah Jahan.   The final stop is the tomb of Khudavand Khan, the man who built the Surat Fort - we talk about his origins in Turkey, how he ended up in Surat and what one can see at the tomb.  We also discuss the unmissable local street food of Surat as well as the various communities that have made Surat so cosmopolitan.  We end the episode discussing some other interesting walks offered by the Surat Heritage project, including walks in Rander, Swally, Dumas, and British and Dutch cemeteries among others.                                                                     Links: Link to Surat Heritage Project's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/surat.heritage.project/ Link to Saloni's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the.turquoise.ink Link to website:  https://www.suratheritage.com/ Photo by VD Photography on Unsplash Follow the Musafir stories on: Twitter : https://twitter.com/musafirstories?lang=en Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/themusafirstories/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/musafirstoriespodcast/?hl=en website: www.themusafirstories.com email: themusafirstories@gmail.com Do follow IVM Podcasts on social media. Today subsequent to the receipt of the Consent to Operate from the Gujarat Pollution Control Board, production has re-commenced on the Cambay field together with gas sales.  Oilex's Chief Executive Officer, Roland Wessel, said: “The re-establishment of production from the Cambay gasfield has occurred soon after the Indian government announced that the price of domestic gas would more than double from $2.9 per mmbtu to $6.1 per mmbtu. This will provide a material benefit to Oilex's cash flow.” Here is the list of the questions asked in the interview: You announced this morning that production has re-started on the Cambay field. Can you explain why the re-start took so long? Your RNS this morning mentioned the Cambay C-77H refract – can you provide some information on this? What is the impact of the recently announced Indian domestic gas price increase for Oilex? How do you envisage the future news flow for the Cambay field? Can you provide an update on the Medway Hub CCS project? https://www.share-talk.com/roland-wessel-ceo-and-director-of-oilex-ltd-asxaimoex-interview-2/

We have been trying to catch up with Roland for a while as he is not one for talking for the sake of it. The first question refers to the RNS released on the 16th March 2022, update to its operations in India and in particular, with respect to the Cambay field development. The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) is expected to approve the re-commencement of production on the Cambay field imminently. All necessary operational preparation, including system integrity checks and safety system validations, has been undertaken to allow for an immediate re-start of gas production from two wells (C-73 and C-77H) upon receipt of GPCB approval. Here is the list of the questions asked in the interview;  What is the status of the production re-start of the Cambay field and why the delays? Is the Cambay field ready to re-start production when the final permit is obtained? What is the current schedule for the C-77H re-frac operation? Again, why has this been delayed? Do Oilex plan to farm out the Cambay field and to what extent? What is the status of the CCS project in the UK? India is the third-largest energy market in the world. Indian gas demand growth is outpacing domestic supply with circa 50% of gas requirements from LNG imports. Robust gas prices are underpinned by the high marginal cost of LNG imports. https://www.share-talk.com/roland-wessel-ceo-and-director-of-oilex-ltd-asxaimoex-interview/

We live within the ruins of an ancient civilization whose vast size has rendered it invisible. Remembered in myth as Atlantis, Lemuria, or other lost world archetypes, the remains of this advanced civilization have lain buried for millennia beneath the deserts and oceans of the world, leaving us many mysterious and inexplicable clues. Investigating the perennial myth of a forgotten fountainhead of civilization,  Douglas presents extensive physical and spiritual evidence of a lost great culture, the collective amnesia that wiped it from planetary memory, and the countless ways ancient catastrophes still haunt modern civilization. He explores evidence of advanced ancient technology, anomalous ancient maps, extraterrestrial influence, time travel, crystal science, and the true age of the Sphinx. He examines evidence of Atlantis in the Bible and ancient Armageddon, the Stone Age high-tech found at Gobekli Tepe, the truth of Rapa Nui (Easter Island), the Zep Tepi monuments of Egypt, the mysteries of the Gulf of Cambay, and what lies beneath the ice of Antarctica. He looks at extinction events, Earth's connection with Mars, and how our DNA reveals that humanity has had enough time to evolve civilization and lose it more than once. Exploring the advanced esoteric and spiritual knowledge of the ancients, Doug shows that the search for Atlantis and other lost worlds reflects the search for the lost soul of humanity. Drawing upon Velikovsky's notion of species-wide amnesia caused by the trauma of losing an entire civilization, he reveals how the virtual ruins of a lost history are buried deep in our collective unconscious, constantly tugging at our awareness.  By overcoming “the Great Forgetting,” humanity can find its way out of the haunted labyrinth in which we find ourselves lost today and rediscover the heights of spiritual and technological advancement of our ancient ancestors.

It’s been an interesting week, with some very good news and some very bad. To start off, Savannah Petroleum (SAVP) was able to announce that, at last, it has completed the Seven Energy transaction. This now gives Savannah a material producing asset base to complement its Niger exploration and development assets, in respect of which it aims to recommence activity in 2020, with expected delivery of first oil from R3 East and a multi-well exploration drilling campaign. This was financed by institutions two years ago at 35p per share and I expect to see the share price now start to work its way up from the current level of 26p. Reabold Resources (RBD) and Union Jack Oil (UJO) advertised upgraded potential volumes at West Newton in a pre market RNS first thing Monday morning and spiked the early buyers. Union Jack slid down from nearly 30p to under 20p by the end of the week and the coup de grace was delivered just after market close on Friday when it announced that it is in the process of taking market soundings from investors in regard to an equity placing of up to £5 million. Investors are not happy and are hoping that it’s not below the last placing price of 17p. More on what’s going on here in the private blog. Amerisur Resources (AMER) announced a recommended cash acquisition by GeoPark Colombia. Each Amerisur Shareholder will receive 19.21p cash per share. It’s less than people were hoping for, but significantly higher than the 12.1p price at which the shares were trading before bidding opened. It’s also a small profit for those who bought in the 17s and 18s over the last few months. The board undoubtedly tried for a better price (directors and institutions were in much higher) but South America is not the best place to be right now unfortunately. Anglo African Oil & Gas (AAOG) reported that it has entered into a rig option agreement, but the rig might not be available until 30 March 2020. Unfortunately, November turned out to be the date for a rig agreement, not the rig arriving as investors had hoped. The problem for them though is that paying for the drill depends on Riverfort selling shares at a higher price than now and how does that situation come about? Slippery language isn’t working anymore for these companies and I see only one way for the Anglo African share price now, which is to decline further. I’ve been warning about this one all the way down from just under 20p and the shares hit an all time low of 2.4p on Friday. On a brighter note, UK Oil & Gas (UKOG) announced the successful completion of its Horse Hill horizontal drill. A total of approximately 2,500 ft of horizontal trajectory was drilled within the reservoir’s most oil productive zone, which gives around 70 times greater exposure than in the vertical discovery well. This is why HH-2z is capable of delivering significantly greater flow rates than those seen in the vertical well. HH-2z is now being prepared for an extensive extended well test, which is expected to commence in the coming weeks and I expect to see some impressive numbers being reported here soon. Sound Energy (SOU) announced that James Parsons and Simon Davies have confirmed their decision to leave the Company. This follows on from the announcement that the CFO is leaving and not being replaced. Last week’s announcement was deliberately drafted to make people think the sale of the Morocco assets is a certainty. So, it’s the end game here now and it appears that they’re trying one last ramp before lights out. Interesting developments at Cadogan Petroleum (CAD). Requisitioning shareholders had an overwhelming majority (93.08% to 6.92%) at the general meeting, thus Adelmo Schenato and Enrico Testa have been removed as directors of the Company with immediate effect, Fady Khallouf, Lilia Jolibois and Jacques Mahaux have been appointed to the board, Zev Furst has tendered his resignation as a director, Fady Khallouf is succeeding Guido Michelotti as CEO of the company and Michel Meeus, a non-executive director of the company and one of the requisitioners, has been appointed as chairman. One of the complaints against the old board is that the company has continuously underperformed and the company’s share price has not materially improved in recent times. The market capitalisation is £13 million and net assets (including around $14 million cash) are nearly $52 million, so there is significant upside here. Eco (Atlantic) Oil & Gas (ECO) announced an update on the initial analysis of the Jethro and Joe wells and the share price more than halved. This is a prime example of why you should never fully believe any of these companies – and always take profits or de-risk. This is a permanent statement in the blog and I really can’t emphasise the importance of this enough. All I can say in this case is that it is inconceivable that Tullow Oil (TLW) and hence ECO did not know it was heavy oil before the announcement. Remarkably, indeed shockingly, Gil Holzman, CEO, was promoting ECO to private investors at a London South East promotional event the day before. If you believe people can be judged by the company they keep, then him sharing a promotional platform with Matt Lofgran of Nostra Terra Oil & Gas (NTOG) possibly says it all. Coro Energy (CORO) and Empyrean Energy (EME). announced their Tambak-1 well intersected the intra-Muda reservoir of the Mako field as expected and data have established the well as a successful appraisal of the Mako gas field. The interesting part is coming up for CORO and EME, since their Indonesian well now will be drilled to a total depth of around 4,005 feet to test the potential of the Tambak prospect, which is estimated as having a mid-case prospective resource potential of 250 Bcf and a geological chance of success of 45%. The impact of this drill to date has actually been negative for the share prices of both companies, but perhaps an exploration success can galvanise them. On the subject of Indonesia, Baron Oil (BOIL) announced that it has entered into a non-binding agreement to acquire SundaGas, which owns the Chuditch Block, offshore Timor-Leste, and the Telen Block, offshore Indonesia. The vendor will receive 66.67% of Baron before the fundraising. There is no indication yet as to what type of financing they will do, for what amount and at what price, so we’ll have to wait for the details to form an assessment. The shares are now suspended pending the publication of an admission document. Finally, there’s been a lot of interest in the new private blog and some confusion too, so let’s try to clarify everything. Currently, I record two podcasts each week, one mid-week and one at the weekend, and I write a blog on Sunday. All these remain the same, unchanged and free of charge. The private blog contains the information which cannot be published in the public blog and podcasts due to legal constraints and it also includes my actual trading ideas with full reasoning. It is sent out immediately by email as events dictate so you receive the information straight away. There is a charge for the private blog, but I think you’ll find the information within it is worth many times its cost. For those who are not familiar with me, I focus exclusively on small-cap oil and gas companies and know this sector inside out. I have been involved in the stock markets (both UK and US) since the early 1980s and understand exactly how the finance and promotion game works. I also have many years’ operational and corporate experience in the oil business, which enables me to see very quickly whether or not these companies are telling the truth. It’s not investment advice that I offer and if you want that, you should speak with a financial advisor. I share my take on companies and the markets and, as those who follow me know, I’m rarely wrong about these matters. The first definite reference to cricket being played anywhere in the sub-continent is a report of English sailors of the East India Company written in 1737. It refers to cricket being played at Cambay near Baroda in 1721. A match between Madras and Calcutta in 1864 was definitely the 1st First Class match in India. The British played the match to build relationships with the Indians, the reasoning being that if the Indian elite had more connections with the British, the British could have more control over India. Top 5 Most Mysterious Underwater Structures Ever Discovered With all our advanced technology, many believe we’ve figured out everything there is to know about our planet’s past. But the fact is that our world is a staggering four and a half billion years old. In that time over 115 billion people have lived here, developed cultures and built massive cities - some of which are now hiding under our oceans, seas and lakes. The next 5 structures likely once existed on land. People, like you and me, perhaps once thrived in them, but at some point, they were swallowed up by rising waters and forgotten by history - that is, until now. Here are the 5 most mysterious underwater structures ever discovered. 5. Lake Michigan Stonehenge In 2007, Mark Holley, a professor of underwater archaeology from the Northwestern Michigan College was with his colleague on Lake Michigan searching for shipwrecks using sonar equipment. 4. Cubas Underwater City While conducting a joint exploration survey with the Cuban government, a Canadian company called Advanced Digital Communications stumbled on what could be one of the most intriguing underwater structures ever discovered. Off the western coast of Cuba, found an astonishing 2000 feet below the water’s surface, the team found unusual structures that strongly hints at a set of organized stones, a lot like you would see in a city or urban area. 3. Baltic Sea Anomaly This unusual formation or object was first sighted in 2011 when a Swedish treasure hunter and his team, Ocean X, were scouring the Baltic Sea using side scan sonar. Dubbed as the Baltic Sea Anomaly 2. Gulf of Khambat Once known as the Gulf of Cambay, the Gulf of Khambat has become known worldwide as the cradle of civilization. Discovered in 2001 by India's Institute of Ocean Technology while they were conducting a study on pollution, they unearthed one of the most compelling pieces of evidence that mankind and urban civilizations may be much older than anybody previously thought. 1. Japan Yonaguni Monument Tour operator, Kihachiro Aratake first discovered Japan's famous Yonaguni Monument in 1986, when he was scouting for potential scuba diving sites for his company. The underwater formation is thought to be a remnant of an old Japanese civilization, said to have existed about 5000 to 10,000 years ago. Ever since it was discovered, marine geologist Masaaki Kimura has been visiting and studying the formation and he says that the more he visits, the more convinced he is that the structure is actually a remnant from the ancient past.
