Around 2,000 metres of RC drilling is planned over the summer, and the company is well-funded, so there could be significant follow-up work going into the autumn. Meanwhile, a bulk sample has been sent away for testing, and Ed himself is off to Washington next week to put Great Western's name in front of some influential people.

The company has been working up its Kalayi and Mont Agoma projects for some time now, and will seek to put them in a wider geological context with the airborne survey. The company has been rehabilitating the underground workings and preparing drill stations for some time, and now the first mine, Pinos Cuates, is ready, with two old other mines set to follow along behind. Once the underground drilling is complete the plan is then to initiate a surface campaign over a much wider footprint, and to look towards building up enough data to compile a resource. It takes the total number of assets in the ECR portfolio to ten, and means that by the end of the year the company will likely be running three separate gold producing operations. The latest deal is being funded by a complex combination of shares, cash, and convertible notes, but nearly all of the payment is deferred. The idea is that these new operations will end up paying for themselves. Nick Tulloch, ECR's chairman joins Vox to explain how it all fits together.

Serval Resources (currently trading at Oscillate Plc on Aquis) will list on Aim within the fortnight, offering investors a suite of copper assets in Botswana and Namibia. Chief executive Robin Birchall is an old hand at mining and knows his way around the capital markets. For Serval he's secured some serious cornerstone investors and has managed to raise around £3 million, notwithstanding the volatile and uncertain macroeconomic environment created by the Iran war. The plan is to get on the ground in Africa in double quick time, and work the assets up to the point where Serval merits a billion dollar valuation. Will it happen? Well, commodities prices are good, Serval has an excellent and experienced team, and a suite of assets that Birchall claims are some of the best in the region.

Rome Resources has completed its latest round of drilling at the Kalayi prospect in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The company drilled just over 3,000 metres, and early results from XRF surveys look good, although these need to be confirmed by assays. The tungsten price has been roaring away lately, and has recently hit $300,000/t. It's the perfect time to be bringing tungsten projects on stream, and Pure Tungsten has not one but two projects on the go. Tharisa has begun underground operations at its South African platinum group metals and chrome mine. The first underground blast took place this week, and development is now underway. The company already has a well established track record of production from its open pit operations and these will continue for some time yet. But the move underground is designed to secure Tharisa's long-term future, and the company is talking about continuing to mine the reef for 60 years. Phoevos Pourolis, Tharisa's chief executive, joins us to tell us more about the underground development, as well as to talk about sentiment around PGMs and chrome, and the new chrome trading facilities that the company has recently put in place.

Quantum Helium has been awarded the operatorship of its Sagebrush asset in Colorado, the last in a line of regulatory hurdles that it had to clear before it was able to initiate major testwork.
