It's called What Will Be Here, and it's a sci-fi audio drama about living on a doomed earth and building things anyway. I'm the showrunner and one of the sound designers for the show, so if you like the audio production of Regarding Dracula, I think you'll like it in What Will Be Here too. Fans of Our Flag Means Death will also love Vico Ortiz as Kei, a nonbinary mechanic and all around gremlin. At its core, this show is about living and creating when things feel pointless. It's a story that came out of the pandemic, and the landscape in which this story was written and produced greatly influenced how it turned out. It's my love letter to making art at the end of the world, and I hope you'll like it. Here's the first episode, GO FOR DEPLOY. In What Will Be Here?, five friends send a rocket to space with a collection of recordings on it that document the world's decline, the stories they want to tell, and their efforts in building this rocket to get their message to the stars. They wonder what their world will have become by the time their message is listened to. At its core, this show is about living and creating when things feel pointless. It's a story that came out of the pandemic, and the landscape in which this story was written and produced greatly influenced how it turned out. What Will Be Here? is set on Earth 200 years in the future, where large-scale crises are fully normalized. But despite the bleak backdrop, this story is one of hope - of overcoming challenges, of making things that might be temporary, but also things that might be launched into space and continue on forever. What Will Be Here? Episode 1, Go For Deploy. Jules introduces the team. Suri has doubts about the project. Armani makes their own golden record. Kei is in the ducts. Dane explains how the world is doomed. Content Notes: contains swearing, the brief presence of fire, recordings of several animal noises, audio of a jet, and the recording of a gunshot. No guns are present in the episode. TRANSCRIPT: https://bit.ly/wwbhe1transcript CREDITS: Jona Lune (they/them) - Jules. Sahar Iman (they/them) - Suri. Kathy Youssef (they/them) - Armani.
