What is the value of counting your blessings, entrusting everything to the Lord, and maintaining an eternal perspective?

Longtime friend and member of the extended Roby family, Paul Little, joins Trent and Patrick on “At Home with Roby”. Our relationship with Paul began in the early 2000s when he served as the company's IT consultant. At the time, there was only one computer under the Roby roof! Paul shares details about his time serving in the United States Marine Corps starting in 1986, the effects that his time as a Marine and Drill Instructor had on his marriage, his post military life in Charlotte working in the technology industry, and the undeniable call he received from God that led him back to the military. Today, Paul and his wife serve and encourage young Marines through their fulltime missionary work with Cru Military. Tune in to receive some of this encouragement, and to enjoy a few laughs as the guys share fun memories of their time working together and the lifelong friendships that were built along the way.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Beth Runkle's husband, Bryan, served in the Air Force for 25 years. During that time, Beth was an unbelievably supportive spouse, sacrificing along with her husband while he served to protect our amazing country. Military life is not easy for the soldier or their spouse and families. It is a world that few of us civilians could comprehend. Bryan and Beth battled with primary and secondary infertility, and the experience was devastating. They were unsure at one point that God's plan was for them to h ave a child or children of their own. Reaching out to the adoption agencies, they found a precious baby boy and absolutely fell in love with him. They were ecstatic to have their precious baby and put their plans for more children into God's hands. He answered their prayers when they least expected and Beth became pregnant and had a darling baby girl. Although they wanted a giant plethora of children of their own, God had different plans when he put Beth into a ministry of helping female cadets and young military spouses. As she and her husband began guiding and assisting the younger generations through military life and marriage life, it became very apparent to both of them that God had blessed them with hundreds of spiritual children. The love and connection that Beth has with those she has mentored and ministered to has surpassed her dream of having those children of her own. She has more children than she ever imagined, and the number continues to grow all the time. God is so very faithful and so wonderful in His ways. I encourage you to reach out to someone in the military or someone who has served and thank them for their sacrifice and service. Happy Holidays! During this season of gratitude and joy we are going back and unwrapping the gems found in past episodes that we may need to listen to again before 2022. Joining me for this Unwrap & Recap series is my guest co-host Juvilyn Garcia. Juvilyn is the 2020-2021 Armed Forces Insurance MCRD San Diego Spouse of the Year & our Hearts & Stripes episode 50 guest that shared on effective communication in your marriage. Bree's Takeaways - I really enjoyed doing the marriage & faith series, episodes 87-91. - Beth Runkleof Cru Military was so transparent about her initial bitterness & even said she “hated” the military lifestyle so it's great to hear how her heart was changed through bible studies and marriage conferences to not just draw closer to her spouse but also our military community. - I will try to host a small group study on marriage. When you have to lead, you learn more. Juvilyn's Takeaways - Marriage is sacrificial. We don't know what we sign up for, but putting your faith first makes all the difference. - The joint calling. It was huge that she saw that they were called to do this work together as often we talk on individual calling. We Hope You Had A Happy Thanksgiving! We are kicking off our Faith & Marriage Series here on Hearts & Stripes podcast. Today we have the pleasure to speak with Beth RunkleI of Cru Military. She serves, alongside her husband, as the director of the Central Region of Cru Military. They are missionaries to the military. In this episode we discuss: How crucial it is to have a growing relationship with the Lord to navigate the turbulent waters of military life. Beth's desire to inspire military spouses to gain insight in how to better support their spouse's calling to serve in the military and embrace their mission as a joint calling to minister to those in their community as they move around and serve their nation. How to connect with and lead a Cru Military small group. More on Beth: Beth Runkle was married to her Air Force man during his 25 years of service which included 14 moves, 4 deployments, and 2 Command tours. For the past 4 years they worked with Cru Military as missionaries and now serve as the Central Region directors for the national team. She began a relationship with Jesus Christ a few years after marrying her military husband and says, “... my marriage was saved by us becoming believers”. During the first three years of marriage, Beth was an incredibly reluctant and bitter military wife. A relationship with Jesus dramatically transformed their marriage and taught them to continue to make deposits in their own marriage by leading others in military small group Bible studies wherever the assignment landed them. Beth has taught Bible study for 20 years and is completing a Master's in Theological Studies from Gateway Seminary. In today's episode Sarah chats with Chris and Rahnella Adsit, the writers behind the Combat Trauma Healing Manual and When War Comes Home. Chris and Rahnella Adsit have been serving Christian nonprofit programs for forty years. They served with Cru, Athletes in Action, Cru Military, and founded Branches of Valor International, a nonprofit serving military and first responder families whose lives have been touched by service-related stress and trauma. Branches of Valor facilitated small, weekly group meetings called Rally Point Groups, where members developed a sense of family, trust and mutual support, to help each other connect with God and heal their mind, body and soul after trauma. In 2017, Chris and Rahnella merged Branches of Valor with Reboot Recovery, an organization also focusing on helping military and first responder families, so they could increase their impact together. Rahnella is now Reboot's International Director and Chris is their National Resource Coordinator. They've authored several books, including the Combat Trauma Healing Manual and When War Comes Home workbook, both of which had life-changing impacts on both Sarah and John. Plus, the First Responder Healing Manual, among others. They live in Eugene, Oregon, where they have raise four children, including an Afghanistan war veteran, a wildland firefighter and the wife of a Marine Major. In this episode we chat about: How the Combat Trauma Healing manual came together through Cru Military Recovering from a 100% disabled PTSD status Healing from trauma takes great courage, but it's possible Letting our lives be ruled by love, not fear The more you choose love over fear, the easier it gets Self-love is just as important as loving others Using a sabbath (one day of rest per week) to stay healthy We hope you enjoy the show and please continue the conversation in the comments on our website, where you can also find links to all the resources mentioned in the show: https://www.bravelove.tv/recovering-from-trauma-and-ptsd-takes-courage-butit's-100%-possible,-with-chris-&-rahnella-adsit-(episode-7)/ --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/bravelovetv/message
