    In today's episode Sarah chats with Shelley Rodriguez of Hope for the Warriors. Sarah first met Shelley at an in-person veteran caregiver wellness workshop in Virginia. Shelley was part of the amazing team pouring into veteran caregivers, helping them take a day of rest for themselves, and to have a time out from dealing with all the ways war had come home. Shelley is a Texas native and has worked for Hope for the Warriors since 2012, when she was hired to develop and implement the family reintegration program. Since that time she has worked as a regional social worker and is currently the program director of Critical Care Coordination, the largest distributor of direct financial assistance and case management services within clinical health and wellness. Shelley is married to Col. Cesar Rodriguez, of the United States Marine Corps of Summerville, Texas. They have two children: Isabell, who is 24 and married to Marine Sergeant Andrew Wormington, and continuing her graduate education; and Isaac, who is 20 and is attending college in Arkansas and playing basketball.     In today's episode Sarah chats with Chris and Rahnella Adsit, the writers behind the Combat Trauma Healing Manual and When War Comes Home. Chris and Rahnella Adsit have been serving Christian nonprofit programs for forty years. They served with Cru, Athletes in Action, Cru Military, and founded Branches of Valor International, a nonprofit serving military and first responder families whose lives have been touched by service-related stress and trauma. Branches of Valor facilitated small, weekly group meetings called Rally Point Groups, where members developed a sense of family, trust and mutual support, to help each other connect with God and heal their mind, body and soul after trauma. In 2017, Chris and Rahnella merged Branches of Valor with Reboot Recovery, an organization also focusing on helping military and first responder families, so they could increase their impact together. Rahnella is now Reboot's International Director and Chris is their National Resource Coordinator. They've authored several books, including the Combat Trauma Healing Manual and When War Comes Home workbook, both of which had life-changing impacts on both Sarah and John. Plus, the First Responder Healing Manual, among others. They live in Eugene, Oregon, where they have raise four children, including an Afghanistan war veteran, a wildland firefighter and the wife of a Marine Major.     "It opened something that was both terrifying and amazing at the same time." –Catherine Bane on sharing her story In today's episode Sarah chat's with Catherine Bane, a member of the Hope for the Warriors community. After finishing high school in 2003, Catherine Bane was excited to join the U.S. Army as a chaplain assistant. Her grandfather, father, and six of her brothers served in the armed forces, and she was proud to add to the family's legacy. Her excitement quickly diminished after a sexual assault. Within the first year of her service, she realized her experience in the military was very different than what her family had experienced. In May of 2015, Catherine ran her first Hope for the Warriors half-marathon, and it was there she became involved with the organization that set her on the path to healing she walks today. Catherine is now married with three children. She and her family enjoy running together, and they set a family goal of running 100 miles in honor of Hope for the Warriors. She offers those who have also experienced sexual assault in the military some hard-earned words of wisdom: Catherine says, “This is your journey; be patient with yourself and never give up. You are worth fighting for, and you aren't alone in this fight.     How PTSD Affects the Whole Family, With Our Australian Friends, Andy and Zoe Cullen (Episode 3)

    In today's episode Sarah chat's with Andy and Zoe Cullen of PTSD Resurrected Inc (https://ptsdresurrected.org). Andy is a veteran of 17 years service in the Australian Army. Retiring as a Major in 2012 having served 6 years as a soldier in the Royal Australian Infantry (RAINF) and later as an Officer in the Royal Australian Engineers (RAE) focusing much of his career in Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD). He was awarded the COMMENDATION FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE for operations in Afghanistan. Zoe grew up in the tranquil hills of Byron Bay living in a mud brick home built by her parents. Zoe has a passion for life, family, travel and after university married into the Army, her own career taking a back seat to Andy's life as a Military Officer. Andy was diagnosed with PTSD following multiple deployments to Afghanistan. Zoe was forced into the position of sole parent of their four young children. Andy's condition worsened while he battled with a loss of identity and purpose following his retirement from the Army. He eventually ended up in a mental hospital falling into a dark depression that very nearly cost him his life, leaving Zoe to pick up the pieces of the broken family. Together they fought their way through the many challenges that living with PTSD brings.
