Durant près d'une heure et demi, l'ancien troisième ligne mythique du Stade toulousain et du XV de France, recordman de capitanat avec les Bleus (56 en 80 sélections, entre 2006 et 2015), m'a fait l'honneur de retracer son beau parcours en se livrant comme rarement. Des origines en Côte d'Ivoire, où il a passé son enfance, son arrivée en France du côté de Périgueux à l'âge de 10 ans, sa découverte du rugby sur le tard, cinq ans plus tard, puis le début d'une carrière professionnelle démarrée à Bordeaux et achevée 16 ans plus tard au Stade toulousain. Entre : 5 titres de champion de France (en 2005 et 2006 avec le Biarritz Olympique, en 2008, 2011 et 2012 avec Toulouse) et une coupe d'Europe (2010). Un palmarès qui se prolonge en équipe nationale avec un Grand Chelem en 2010. Il a également atteint avec les Bleus la finale de la Coupe du monde en 2011, échouant d'un tout petit point contre les All Blacks en Nouvelle-Zélande (8-7) après avoir marqué le seul essai français. 2011, année où il a également été désigné meilleur joueur du monde. Retiré des terrains depuis 2017, Thierry mène depuis une seconde vie de chef d'entreprise, qu'il a démarré avant même de raccrocher les crampons, en 2009. Ayant investi dans divers projets entrepreneuriaux, principalement dans les nouvelles technologies, il se définit aujourd'hui comme un business angel.
