Olin Browne is one of golf’s great late-bloomers. The Occidental College grad didn’t break through on the PGA Tour until he was 39, when he won the Greater Hartford Open. Two more victories followed, including the Deutsche Bank Championship at the ripe age of 46. Six years later he took the U.S. Senior Open, torching Inverness. At 58, he continues to dig the secrets out of the dirt on the Champions tour. Olin sat down with Alan Shipnuck recently to talk about all things growing old in the game. Oh yeah, he's not going anywhere any time soon...unless his pro golfer son keeps beating him.

In the second segment of the show, Holly G welcomes Jeff Babineau of Golfweek, who talks about Tiger's return next month. It looks like Tiger may play one event a month for the rest of 2016. Jeff thinks Tiger is playing at a pace where he can get himself ready for the Masters in 2017.  Will asks Jeff about where he thinks Tiger's mind will be when he returns. He needs to build his game and build his confidence.  Holly talks with Jeff about Rory bouncing back and turning his season around on a 15 foot putt for a triple bogey. Jeff thinks that Rory had been lost with his putting even though he was striking the ball so well, his putting was letting him down. It's also good news for Darren Clarke and the young European Ryder Cup team with McIlroy playing so well now. Another guy on the prowl and prepared for the Ryder Cup is Bulldog Patrick Reed who leads the FedEx Cup standings right now. Jeff thinks that maybe the US team might try something new for the Ryder Cup like having some younger guys who are really fired up. Not that the vets aren't but maybe switch it up with some new blood. The PGA Tour is headed to Crooked Stick in Indiana, Holly asks Jeff about the course. He said it's a good track and the players like to play there. Some of the guys who are playing well now played well three years ago. The guy who wins in Atlanta will be your FedEx Cup champ.  Jeff thinks that Jordan Spieth will be really focused this week in order for him to play well and make the Top 5 heading into the final event at East Lake Country Club.  Babs takes DJ to win this week and solidify his spot in the Top 5 and a good chance to win the $10 million bounty. Ben Everill, PGA Tour reporter for Australia Associated Press, calls in from Crooked Stick to talk about Jason Day. Ben said that this is Jason's worst year driving only hitting 50 percent of the fairways. He reports that Jason just put a new shaft in his driver Wednesday before the third FedEx Cup event.  Holly asked Ben about Jason Day's wife Ellie's car accident at the Deutsche Bank. He said everyone is fine and Ellie only had a case of whiplash.  Adam Scott was playing well earlier in the year but has crept his way into the Top 5. He thinks that Adam has a very good chance this week. Ben said that Adam played well in the Pro-Am on Wednesday and has been playing well the past two weeks in the FedExCup. He thinks that golf fans might be in for a shootout between Adam and Rory McIlroy this week. You can follow Ben on Twitter @BEverillPGATOUR  Holly G and Will Perry wrap up this week's hour of intelligent golf talk talking with Todd Lewis  from the Golf Channel calls in from the BMW Championship. Holly and Todd talk about Tiger's return. Todd thinks it is interesting that Tiger is playing in three different events, in three different countries and he thinks it might be a "circus" when Tiger tees it off at the Safeway Open in October. Woods will also play in the Turkish Open in November and then the final event his own World Golf Challenge in December. Todd said that these are 3 events that Tiger would like to play in but it still remains to be seen if he will be able to play. Will talks about the strategy that Tiger is using playing in two non-cut events. Holly asks Todd who he thinks will win this week. Rory McIlroy.

He and Will talk about Jordan Spieth's play of this year as compared to his domination last year when he won the FedEx Cup title. Steve doesn't think Jordan may ever play the four majors as well as he did last year.  Holly asks Steve about this week's Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston and who the course may favor. Steve said it's a layout that favors defending champion Rickie Fowler. Steve feels that the guy who makes the most 20 footers is going to win this event. Holly mentions that Billy Horschel tied for 13th in the Barclays and won the FedEx Cup a couple years ago. A big thank you to all that worked the event to make it a success as well as for all those that participated. More than $36,000 was raised.  Donations are still being taken at golfunited.org.  Jeff Babineau from Golfweek calls in to talk about his participation in the Charity Scramble. Jeff's team finished at 21-under-par and won the tournament.  Holly and Jeff talk about Sunday's finish at Bethpage where Reed won and Rickie Fowler faltered down the stretch losing the tournament as well as an automatic spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup team. Will talks with Jeff about Reed's momentum as he progresses through the FedEx Cup playoffs. Holly brings up the red hot Sean O'Hair who finished second at Bethpage and jumped from 108th to 15th in the FedEx Cup standings. Jeff mentions that the Ryder Cup selections deadline has been moved back and U.S. Captain Davis Love III has a couple more tournaments before he has to fill his final spots on the team. John Glozek, Publisher Golfing Long Island Magazine, chats with Holly and Will about The Barclays and the New York crowd. John was at the event and shares his thoughts on the first stage of the FedEx Cup. Phil Mickelson, who is a fan favorite in New York didn't fare as well as he and his fans would have liked. John said that watching the tourney on television doesn't give the viewers the full understanding of how tough the breaks are on the greens at Bethpage.  Steve Eubanks, Global Golf Post, talks about Ariya Jutanugarn's 5th win on the LPGA Tour. Golf seems in a rush to name Jordan Spieth, Jason Day and Rory McIlroy as golf's new Big Three. It's also the eve of the second event of the 2015 FedEx Cup playoffs, The Deutsche Bank Championship.  Last week it was all Jason Day as he won The Barclays, his fourth event of the season, running away from the competition once again. On Sunday  Bob Harig, ESPN.com, calls in a talks to Holly to talk about Jason Day's confident play of late.  Bob feels that once again that once you break through things get easier.  Day shot a 63-62 to run away with the event.  Bob talks to Holly G about when is the last time that two players have been in the hunt for the Player of the Year. Jordan Spieth winning two majors and two other events and how well he has played. On the other hand, now you have Day who has won a major and three other events with one of those being a FedEx Cup event.  There's a possibility that Day could sweep the FedEx Cup and how would that stand up against what Spieth has done in the eyes of their peers who vote for POY? Bob said that Spieth finished first, first, fourth and second in the majors this year so that may be the stat that seals it for Spieth. And he was one stroke away from being in the playoff at the Open Championship which could've been three in a row for Jordan. It's been one of the greatest years is major championship history. Holly and Bob discuss Rory McIlroy's chances battling through injuries and how he might play the rest of the FedEx Cup playoffs this year? Bob said that Rory is more fresh now. He can play one week, get a week off and then play two in a row. Bob feels that it is a good decision by Rory to play how he has this past month.  Then a hard European Tour finish after that. Bob and Holly talk about who has to make the biggest move this week to help their cause going forward. Hunter Mahan has been in eight straight Tour Championships since the FedEx Cup playoffs have started. If you get to Atlanta, you are putting at least 150,000 in your retirement account. He's 91st in points and has a lot of work to do this week to get to the BMW. The Top 5 get to control their destiny in the FedEx Cup. May be one of the debatable things about the FedEx Cup format. Day can win the next two and may not win it all. Someone who is 2, 3, 4 or 5 can win the title if they win the last event. Bob feels, that it's hard to play these big tournaments in consecutive weeks so it's great that they have a week off after this Mitch Laurance, host of Golf Connections on PlayGolfGetaways.com , talks to Holly about the World Ams and 57 courses being played. There are about 3,500 golfers and about 70 or so flights.  Players play four different golf courses during the event and experience all of the facets. There are also amazing deals at the 19th Hole, the food, the free cocktails, etc.  There are also so many side competitions going on and events for participants to compete in. John Daly was at the World Am right after being in the hospital for a collapsed lung. Mitch said he got to spend some time with Daly and ask him how he was doing and ... John said "Okay, but added he was still scared."   Mitch said it really is a mind boggling place with all the great golf courses in the area and the World Amateur event each year. For more information on the World Amateur or to compete next year, visit www.myrtlebeachworldamateur.com/ Jeff Shain, Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette in Hilton Head, S.C. and a contributor to PGATour.com, calls in from nearby Hilton Head to talk to Holly G about Jason Day's recent accomplishments on Tour. Very impressive but befuddled some of the top players in the world. Jeff feels that once a player crosses over and wins one of the biggest events it really goes a long way in boosting their confidence where they can start winning more. Holly asks Jeff about Brian Harman's two aces in one tournament. He was buying drinks and they were all doubles. Maxed out his credit card. Brian has a good year but hasn't been a contender this year like last year when he won. Jeff discusses the second event of the FedEx Cup and the top players. Interesting to have the three guys together in Spieth, Day, and McIlroy. Jeff mentions the fact that Sergio Garcia is not playing the Deutsche Bank and was not at The Barclays. It's a big gamble just playing the last two events, but is an interesting strategy.  Jeff says that in the past it seems that there are players who are just on the periphery in the standings that get hot and win it all like Horschel did last year. Jeff said it could be Robert Streb. Wrapping up the hour of intelligent golf talk radio Holly talks to one of the featured golf courses on The Golf Insiders Golf Card, Justin Awtrey the General Manager of the DeBary Golf and Country Club. Justin talks about the renovations that were recently done to the course and the grand reopening. Henrik Stenson gained a deserved success for his consistent play over the last couple of months, winning the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston on Monday evening. Stenson hadn’t won a PGA Tour event since The Players Championship in 2009 and was outside the top 200 in the world at the start of the 2012 season, however his ball-striking this season has been exemplary and he now sits at the top of the FedEx Cup standings. The PGA Tour takes a break this week following the Deutsche Bank Championship, but Dave Kelner and Mike Grenham are with you to preview the Omega European Masters, one of the highlights on the European Tour each and every season.

Rich Bianco is in the studio with special guest Peter Kessler, "The Voice of Golf". The show is joined in progress as the two are talking about Watney's success and the FedEx Cup playoffs. Bob Harig, ESPN.com, calls in to join the discussion about the FedEx Cup Playoffs with Rich and Peter. Bob's point is that Nick Watney is taking advantage of his win at the Barclays, the only win this season. His best finish prior to that was 8th, but now he is right there in the mix with all the golfers who have played well all year. Fair or not? That's the way the FedEx Cup is set up for now. Bob also brings up the point if people are expecting too much of Tiger with all that he has been through?  His age, his injuries, his personal life. He is back to second in the standings and if you take away the name Tiger Woods, everyone else would be a major success story. Rich B and Bob talked about the upcoming Deutsche Bank Championship at TPC Boston, Norton, Mass. Adam Scott is Bob Harig's pick. Todd Lewis, The Golf Channel, calls in to talk about the Ryder Cup and Europe's team. The duo talks about Gary Woodland's success last year and didn't qualify for the Top 125 this year as he has been battling injuries. Todd feels that he will get healthy and come back strong in 2013. Todd talks about the Deutsche Bank Championship and how it differs from Beth Page and it may be the easiest course of the four in the FedEx Cup Playoffs this year. Jeff Shain, Orlando Sentinel, calls in to talk to the duo about the LPGA and the Tour's youngest winner, 15 year old Lidia Ko from New Zealand who was born is South Korea. Peter brings up the point that Suzanne Petterson has not dominated the Tour like one would think she could with all of her abilities. Jeff also talks about Watney's success and the rest of the FedEx Cup. Chris King, communications director for marketing cooperative Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday, calls in from the World Golf Amateur's 19th Hole to wrap up the show and update the status of the weather and how the tournament has been going at the tournament. The 29th Annual Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship features approximately 3,100 players.
