It's been a wild week for Duke leading up to the Carolina game. We had a blowout win against Wake, but Caleb Foster was absent from the rotation. In his stead Isaiah Evans has been torching the nets. We then see Auburn go down. Does that elevate Duke to #1 status? What does that do for Coop's POY chances? And then today, we officially get word that Jai Lucas is taking the Miami HC job. So much leading to the season finale in Chapel Hill. How will Duke handle it? Find out next!

In the 877th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, which has been nominated for 'Podcast of the Year' at the Global Poker Awards, Chad Holloway, Kyna England, and Mike Holtz discuss ACR calling Nacho Barbero a "goofball" after serious accusations arose when the Argentinean pro shared a social media post that showed him using GTO Wizard. Patrick Leonard did a deep dive into the data, and while it apparently shows no nefarious activity, it did get the community questioning the situation as a whole. Chad and Kyna also share their experience at the massive MSPT Potawatomi, which saw them both cash on just one bullet apiece. Get a look at their Wisconsin adventure, and find out where they each finished. They also highlight the winner of that tournament as well as Angela Jordison, who took down a side event. The crew then shows some love for the Venetian Poker Room, examines a big hand between Doug Polk and Mariano that was live-streamed from The Lodge, and Leon Tsoukernik feeling 'Absolutely Fine' two weeks after a 40-hour coma. Finally, get a look at Phil Galfond on the latest Life Outside Poker episode as well as a reminder to enter the PokerNews Giveaway for a copy of The Las Vegas Book valued at $500. On this episode, we look at Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley's innovative approach to tackling homelessness, budget challenges and systemic inequality. Crowley is among those recognized by Governing's returning Public Officials of the Year award series. Created three decades ago to spotlight solutions, not scandals, the Public Officials of the Year (POY) awards are back. Governing magazine, the sister publication of Government Technology*, is again recognizing a select group of people who make government work. For its part, The Future In Context podcast is dedicating October to deep dives on POY's Class of 2024. You'll hear from public officials themselves and the writers who profiled them in the fall issue of Governing. In this episode, we examine Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley and his work to reduce homelessness, reshape public health, lead collaboratively and think strategically about the community's next chapter. Governing Editor Alan Greenblatt joins the podcast to put Milwaukee's future in context. SHOW NOTES Here are the top five takeaways from this episode: The Revival of Public Officials of the Year: Greenblatt discusses the return of Governing magazine's Public Officials of the Year awards after its print edition was discontinued in 2019. The awards celebrate individuals who have made significant contributions to state and local government. The focus is on recognizing solutions rather than highlighting conflicts or scandals. Collaborative Leadership in Milwaukee: David Crowley, Milwaukee County executive, and Mayor Cavalier Johnson are highlighted as prime examples of close political collaboration. Their longstanding relationship and cooperative work have led to legislative successes, like allowing Milwaukee County to raise local sales taxes, which has helped address long-standing budget issues. The two were together so often that they joked they should have carpooled. Systemic and Long-Term Vision: Crowley is praised for taking a long-term, systems-based approach to governance. His focus on integrating various government initiatives (housing, health, etc.) under a strategic vision contrasts with the short-term crisis management that often dominates government action. His approach is aimed at improving health outcomes, housing and other critical public services in Milwaukee. Success in Reducing Homelessness With Housing First: Milwaukee County's successful implementation of the Housing First model has resulted in a 92 percent reduction in homelessness over a decade. Greenblatt emphasizes the collaborative efforts between the county, city and nonprofit organizations as key to this achievement. Challenges and Future Aspirations for Milwaukee: Despite significant progress, Milwaukee still faces challenges, including opioid addiction, traffic fatalities and income disparities. Both Crowley and Johnson have ambitious goals to change the perception of Milwaukee, with hopes for future growth, although there is skepticism about whether it will achieve the rapid development seen in cities like Nashville or Austin. In the 843rd episode of the PokerNews Podcast, Chad Holloway and Kyna England are joined at Level 9 Studio by Joey Ingram, who served as special co-host to talk about the latest happenings at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) as well as his new partnership with GTO Wizard. The biggest story is that of Scott Seiver, who captured his third bracelet of the summer and became just the seventh player in history to win three bracelets in the same year. Could he make history by becoming the only player to win four? He has two more weeks to do it. Despite winning three bracelets, you might be surprised to learn that Seiver is far from a lock to win the 2024 WSOP Player of the Year; in fact, Jeremy Ausmus, who hasn't won a bracelet this summer, isn't too far behind in points thanks to a bevy of final table appearances. Would a non-bracelet winner winning POY over a three-time winner cause a controversy? The crew discusses that very possibility. Chad then shares pictures and videos from the exclusive Global Poker party that took place at PokerGO Studio on Sunday night, while Ingram opens up about all things GTO Wizard. As usual, you'll also get your dose of other WSOP bracelet winners and a $25K Fantasy update. Oh, and did we mention talk about Daniel Negreanu, Nick Schulman, and Phil Ivey? Because that's all in there too. A new PokerNews Podcast will drop twice weekly during the 2024 WSOP every Tuesday and Friday at 8a PT / 11a ET / 4p UK time. If we got the Crier on that means we're talking Big East hoops! Our previews take us to one of the most compelling and deep conferences in the country. Somehow, the coaches are more interesting to us than the players. We take a look at the future COY, POY & Champs. The top 3 is pretty clear but who else can make some noise? We also talk about Cooley's return to Providence of course and finish it up with some Big East trivia. Truth be told, I don't know how accurate the trivia was but oh well. Season is rapidly appraoching! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Our previews roll on as we make our way to the midwest to discuss the Big Ten! What a conference, what a list of teams, what rosters. It's all really breathtaking. We also get into it about Tom Izzo's latest comments regarding the transfer portal. Another episode down means we're closer to the season. Enjoy! Learn more about your ad choices. Back at it with the predictions but this time we're heading to the ACC. Shaun Deeb was just 16 when he fell in love with poker, hosting tournaments at his home in New York. It wasn't long before he was focusing more on cards than school, and Deeb found himself quickly rising the ranks among the best online players in the world, reaching no. 1 in 2009.In the live arena, Deeb has done most of his damage at the World Series of Poker. Not only is he in an elite group of just 22 players with at least six bracelets, but he is consistently one of the best performers each summer in the WSOP Player of the Year race. In fact since 2015, Deeb has finished in sixth place or better six times! In total, he has racked up more than $13.5 million in live tournament earnings during his career, to go along with millions more won online.Deeb finished in second place in this summer's WSOP POY race, but also has four other wins in 2023, putting him in the top 20 of the year-long POY race as well. The 37-year-old has done it while also working on a weight-loss prop bet with Bill Perkins that will earn him a seven-figure payout if he can get down to 17 percent body fat by next summer's series. Highlights from this interview include growing dreadlocks to lose body fat percentage, how WSOP main event champ Dan Weinman saved his summer, winning a circuit ring for his chicken fingers, 'retiring' after burn out, a team wafflecrush update, investing in a sub franchise over daily fantasy sports, letting Gus Hansen take his million dollar seat, being a 'foot-on-the-gas-type' player, slowrolling Mike Matusow, why Max Heinzelmann cost him Ben Lamb's money, not being afraid to speak his mind, passing his sparkly black crown to Ian Matakis, hating all music and refusing to dance, losing 5/6ths of a $200,000 pot, the biggest open face Chinese games, passing on the family restaurant business, 50-hour sessions, and undercooked chicken as a murder weapon.
The boys are back to talk through NFL Futures. From MVP, to OROY & DROY, to the OPOY & DPOY...We're here to talk POY's! We also do rounds 4 & 5 of our fantasy football mock draft. Enjoy and hit ya free throws!
