The Clash were once described by their manager as a news organization first, and entertainers second. They were arrested on suspicion of terrorism in London. Chased out of Jamaica by local drug lords armed to the teeth. Caused a near riot in Times Square when their week-long takeover of a disco was shut down by the city after night one. For Joe Strummer, one of the Clash's two songwriters and the group's political avatar, all this insanity came with the territory when you were disrupting the status quo. Red writes "On August 17th, 2023, I was camping with a close friend In Stephen's state forest in south central Iowa, not far from the Missouri border. It is very remote for the Midwest in that area. There are no electrical lines in this particular forest, so no lights. My friend and I got into the forest at dusk and set up camp. We saw no vehicles as we drove through the forest and the campsite we stayed at was completely empty. Twenty minutes or so after setting up camp, we heard an incredibly loud sound from the northwest corner of the camp. It was so loud it made us both jump and all of my hair immediately stood on end. The sound was like a howler monkey whooping, but it sounded like it was the size of a minivan. Immediately after this, about 150 feet south of us in the tree line, another noise happened. It sounded like Babe Ruth was in the forest slamming a bat against a tree. There were 6 whacks or knocks. They came in 3 successions of twos. Knock knock. Knock knock. Knock knock. That night we got chased out of the campsite by 3 or 4 of these creatures. It kept me out of the woods for a long time. I would love to tell you the whole experience."

While usually friendly, Dallasidentified the birds as enemies, aided by territorial magpies that swooped in to drive the cockatoos away. While the Anglo-American style was to use heavy artillery to control threatening bears, the vaqueros preferred to rope them from the back of a well-trained horse. Proceeded to 4x4 all over the gd mountain.  It was an absolute blast.  Ope, a wheel slipped.  Okay…brake, 4LockLo and crawl right over anything.  Kinda cool Found one herd and saw a fork horn.  Texted squeezer and he lightly convinced me to chase.  Chased, found tracks, bedding and water but they were poof. Headed back to camp for a bit to rest, and then went back out to a different spot.  Cruised around that loop for an  hour or so, making hikes up the mtn every now and then.  Absolutely gorgeous 4x4 trail. Finally found a herd of nine does and spotted a fork horn.  Drove right on by and pretended I didn't see them Parked and snuck up staying low and behind hills and rocks.  Got close and was able to ID the fork, but didn't have a shot.  He moved, so I just stayed still and patient.  Most of them didn't care and went about their day but one had her eyes and ears on the rock I was behind the whole time.  She knew I was there. Finally ID'd the fork and got ready.  Steadied up and squeezed.  I saw him jump, and bolt, but I knew it was good.  Climbed up to where he had disappeared and found him exactly where I expected to.   Cooler, crime scene and knives.  It was only a handful of episodes ago, when listeners learned the story of Bobby Baker. Do you remember that episode when the very day the world stood still, mourning the assassination of President John F. Kennedy? Another story was unfolding in the shadows of Washington D.C. A story so explosive, it could have stopped Lyndon B. Johnson from ever becoming president.You might remember that In a closed-door Senate hearing, a lone whistleblower, an insurance salesman named Don B. Reynolds, was giving testimony that implicated the Vice President himself. Testimony that touches upon a  web of kickbacks, bribes, and political corruption. The allegations were severe enough to  potentially lead to the impeachment, removal from office, and even prison time for LBJ.But then, shots rang out in Dallas.In the chaos that followed, that bombshell testimony vanished. The whistleblower, Don Reynolds, faced death threats and was forced to flee the country. He would live  in exile for four years, haunted by what he knew. Chased now  by the  federal machinery that had been weaponized by LBJ  to get him,  including the IRS and the FBI. Ol' Dirty Bastard once saved a four-year old girl who was trapped under a Ford Mustang. He took a limo with an MTV news crew to collect his welfare check. He was charged with attempted murder of an NYPD officer. Chased by bloodthirsty Rottweilers. Shot by men in ski masks. His fame led to an addiction to cocaine, and that addiction led to ten arrests in the span of a few months. He was granted a weekend furlough from a rehab facility but went AWOL and wound up on the lam. Before long he wound up in Dannemora, aka Clinton Correctional Facility, aka Little Siberia, a maximum security prison in upstate New York, where he had to go to extreme lengths just to stay sane – and to survive.
