We finally get a chance to talk a little Worlds as Edward Gaming becomes the best League team on earth. Also, we gush over Arcane and how it exceeded all expectations, how did Riot get it right? And a wave of teams quitting hit ALGS this fall, who can EA stop the bleeding. And Robbie makes a revelation that shocks Norris. Recent news came out of Worlds that was not directly related to the showdown between DAMWON KIA and EDward Gaming. Riot Games decided to restrict third party press access to all but a select few for curious, as of now unknown, reasons. Hunter came in heated about it, and of course we obliged him! We discuss what this decision could mean for media members, how its currently being perceived, as well as why this is a bad look for not just Riot Games, but any publisher with control of their esports league to restrict press access. Episode 37 - LPL Pre-Season Tier List Spring 2020 Recorded on: January 8th, 2020 We hope everybody had an excellent holiday season but it's time to get back to work as we gear up for the 2020 competitively League of Legends season! We'll be doing our pre-season tier lists and power rankings for the four major regions (LPL, LCK, LCS, LEC) over the next couple of weeks to get them to you all before those respective seasons begin. A big part of capping or playing daily fantasy for any sport is to have a concept of the relative strength of teams before games are played because there is frequently a big edge to be gained before we start getting data and sample size. It frames a lot of your comparisons, discussions, and early season decisions. Is this Team A being overrated? Underrated? How many things need to go right for this team to exceed their expectation? etc. etc. Often there is a lot of value because of price memory or perception from the previous year or name brand value compared to actual evaluation. Ultimately we won't know exactly how things play out until we see it but it's a good excercise to get yourself well-versed on the regions you intend to focus on and prepare yourself for the year! Intro 0:01:35 - Defining our tiers (Best to worst: S, A, B, C, D, F) 0:03:39 - LPL Tier List Discussion Listed below is our tier list for the LPL. In today's episode of the Guess the Lines: Unikoin Challenge Podcast, Chase "RedShirtKing" Wassenar discuss the 3-0 dismantling of EDward Gaming at the hands of Fnatic, where Febiven's Leblanc game places him in the pantheon of mid laners, and what EDG's failure, as well as the failure of China, teaches us about the future of the game (spoiler alert: it's not that analysts using legitimate statistics to make predictions were crazy or wrong for making them). They then move on to breaking down the fourth Quarterfinal series between the KOO Tigers and KT Rolster and talk about how the patch changes affect the possibility of a repeated close series, why Hojin looks like he's trailed off in recent games, and whether Piccaboo will finally be the one to take down the dreaded Tahm Kench pick.
In today's edition of the Guess the Lines: Unikoin Challenge Podcast, Chase "RedShirtKing" Wassenar and Walter "Ceades" Fedczuk look back at the second quarterfinals series between AHQ and SKT and marvel at how dominant Faker can be when he gets the opportunity, how Ziv managed to impress despite his team's losing efforts, and what AHQ need to do to better prepare for the International stage going forward. After catching up on the pair's successful Unikoin wagers, they move on to previewing Saturday's series between EDward Gaming and Fnatic and argue over how much of a difference Koro will make on the series, whether Febiven has done enough to be placed on PawN's level, and if Meiko's development as a support can throw off the Fnatic bot lane.
In today's edition of the Guess the Lines Unikoin Challenge, Chase "RedShirtKing" Wassenar and Walter "Ceades" Fedczuk take a look at Friday's Group C action as they try to wrap their heads around EDward Gaming's disappointing play, the dominance of SK Telecom, the turbulent offseason that awaits H2k-Gaming, and the moral victories the Bangkok Titans have to take away from an otherwise rough group stage. They then transition into Guessing the Lines for Saturday's Group D action, as they try to decipher why people would still want to gamble on LGD Gaming, whether Origen can keep up their strong performance to grab the group, what KT Rolster needs to do to ensure success within this group and beyond, and how Team SoloMid should best send off Dyrus in what is likely the last game of his career.
