This week, Skyler and Evan gather 'round the Festivus Pole to air some grievances against their Colorado Rockies before being visited by three spirits: the ghosts of Rockies' past, present, and yet to come. If only these spirits would visit owner Dick Monfort instead. You'll also never guess what our hosts' favorite Christmas movie is! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
It is almost officially that time of year - Festivus. A time where we put up the Festivus Pole, air our grievances, show our feats of strength. On tonight's show, each of us will air three of our grievances while voicing the chat's grievances as well. Let's have fun with this. I mean, it is in regards to the Pittsburgh Pirates so there should be plenty we can poke at. LIKE and SUBSCRIBE with NOTIFICATIONS ON if you enjoyed the show! Jason will forever be associated with the 166th episode of Seinfeld, which featured Festivus…the holiday where families express their disappointment in each other, then demonstrate feats of strength around an unadorned, aluminum pole. For Seinfeld writer Dan O'Keefe, the horrors of the real-life Festivus, invented by his mad genius father, were traumatizing events. Really, no Really! Since the Festivus episode aired, it has been celebrated by a multitude of families, as an alternative to traditional holidays. But Festivus isn't the only neuvo-holiday tradition; 20% of Americans say their families celebrate similarly bizarre holiday traditions. To discuss the true origin and lesser-known details of his family's holiday and talk about the phenomenon that Festivus has become, we invited Dan O'Keefe to reminisce and reflect. Dan is a writer and producer, who in addition to working on Seinfeld also worked on The Drew Carey Show, The Tonight Show, Married…with Children, Bevis and Butthead, Silicon Valley, Veep and many more. ON THIS EPISODE: How Seinfeld showrunners had to pressure Dan to get his Festivus story. The bizarre origins of other holiday traditions. Proper Festivus music, including Italian Chip Monk songs, and the music of the Irish Republican Army. The Festivus Pole and the other, bonkers, real-life symbols! Dan's out-of-body experience…making the Festivus episode. Jason and Dan's memories of filming the Festivus dinner scene. Revealed: The proper main course for Festivus Dinner! Dan's father's reaction to the episode was surprising. The actual meaning of “a Festivus for the rest of us.” Dan's dad created other, even weirder, holidays. This week Larry returns to talk boogers, old & funny SNL, World Cup final, grifty grandma dinner, Jonathan the Tortoise, Christmas coffee, and CIA v JFK. Plus: Mike and Larry watch some stuff on TV, including Rick and Morty Season Six, with SPOILERS!
It's our 2nd annual Festivus show! First things first, we had to bring the Festivus Pole onto the show for proper celebration, we then jump into the traditional airing of grievances, and then complete the feats of strength. We then finish the show with a game of guess the holiday movie. This week's can is a Holiday Saison called Santa! I know him! We want your recommendations! What is your favorite canned beverage? We‘d love to have a taste and feature it on a future episode. Any additional suggestions, questions, or corrections you may have, we want to hear those as well! Make it personal! Send us a voice message: speakpipe.com/CannedConversation Or, hang-out with us on the inter-webs in all the usual places: Instagram / Facebook: @cannedconvo Twitter: @canned_convo Reddit: u/Canned_Conversation YouTube: Canned Conversation Email: cannedconvo@gmail.com Checkout the Complete List of Cans Featured on the Show: Canned Convo Beverages.pdf The Rating System: We rate each can and its contents on a scale of 0 to 5 stars. No half stars, we commit and stand by the full level we award. 5-Star: We love it so much, we rave about it to anyone who will listen, and actively hand them out to friends and family to try! 4-Star: We really like it, will proactively get more, and will keep some on hand to enjoy at our next social gathering. 3-Star: It's good, we like it, and equate it to our standard weekend selection. We won't go out of our way to acquire more, but will certainly have it again should the situation arise. 2-Star: It's not great. We will finish this can, but will part ways after, and will likely not meet again in the future. 1-Star: It's terrible. We won't be finishing the can, and will need another, better can, to wash the awful taste out of our mouths. 0-Star: It's so bad, it caused a visceral reaction that made us physically reject it's contents.
Do you have some political grievances you'd like to air? Any feats of strength you'd like to subject Peter to? What Festivus miracles should we be hoping for in 2022? Tonight on a special edition of Page One, we pay omage to the secular holiday known as Festivus. The holiday, celebrated on December 23rd as an alternative to the pressures and commercialism of the Christmas season was originally created by author Daniel O'Keefe and entered popular culture after it was made the focus of the 1997 Seinfeld episode 'The Strike' in which O'Keefe's son Dan O'Keefe co-wrote. Break out your unadorned aluminum Festivus pole as we celebrate in our own way with an 'Airing of Grievances" 'Festivus Miracles' and maybe even a 'Feats of Strength" contest.
Ho Ho Ho, get out the Festivus Pole, it’s our holiday show spectacular celebrating with returning guest co-host Erin Sterling Lewis. If your world is Florida, Gene Leedy was one of the masters of Modernism in the 20th century, bursting on the scene as one of Architectural Record's most successful young architects of 1965. With us is his daughter Saffie Leedy Ferris and architect Max Strang of Miami, who grew up in a Gene Leedy house, and worked for Gene Leedy. Later on, special musical guest Laura Ridgeway and the story of the legendary jazz nightclub, the Frog and Nightgown. This show is dedicated to Peter Ingram, co-founder of that club, who died in November 2020.
Back by popular demand, the guys at AHC Podcast are going to give you a Fire Side-Chat this week! In this episode, we'll talk about our favorite holidays, as well as some we could do without. Gather around the Festivus Pole and get ready to listen to us air our grievances in this week's Fire Side-Chat.
The guys gather around the Festivus Pole to air grievances, predict miracles, perform feats of strength and open their secret santa gifts on this very special Festivus episode of the podcast. This is also our last podcast of 2020. We really appreciate the support so far and hope you continue to listen/watch!
Gather 'round the Festivus Pole, listeners... we got a lot of problems with you people! Allen wants the traditional struggles of a classic Christmas dad. Frank Spiderman refuses to save his uncle Ben, and chooses the path of no responsibility. Bobby was out making deliveries. We think he's Santa.

Tis the season, folks! We've got our annual (kind of?) smattering of automotive-themed presents for that car person in your life, or just yourself. We won't judge! Happy holidays!

The Festivus season is here! The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are heading to Orlando to play the Iowa State Cyclones in the Camping World Bowl - and everyone is excited. Josh, Brendan, and Brad assemble themselves for a delicious podcast meal, and this is what we came up with: Airing of grievances... we list the many wrongs the AP and CFB Playoff committee have committed with the Irish over the last six weeks. We really dug deep here and yeah... the Irish got hosed. Feats of Strength... we shed some positive light on this years team and the situation they find themselves in. Festivus Pole... Did you know that the pole is actually the Jeweled Cornllelagh?! Festivus Miracle... Jude joined right at the end to let all of you know how to help spread a little more cheer this holiday season with some great charity options. ***Ryan Ritter's (HLS) Extra-Life mission ***Chris Wilson's (Rakes Report) fundraiser for the Center for the Homeless in South Bend ***Steve Neuman's (Tax Bastard) fundraiser to help less fortunate kids at Godfrey Lee Schools.
