Ponad sześć tysięcy pierogów przed polską ambasadą w Waszyngtonie, tłumy ludzi i historia dwóch sióstr, które z rodzinnego przepisu zrobiły biznes obecny dziś niemal w całych Stanach.

Another great weekend for VAR – Salah's dodgy penalty, Calvert-Lewin escaping red for a hair pull, and two incidents in Everton's game at West Ham – Jordan Pickford should have been given a red card on review, and Everton should have had a penalty. We were sold a vision of minimal mistakes and no more post-match chats about how our team was robbed by a refereeing mistake. Yet we're still having those same conversations, and we can't put it down to the officials being unsighted. So, how is VAR making everything worse? The penalty decision had no bearing on Everton's defeat. That was squarely on the players and the manager. We look back at West Ham and dip in form at a bad time for the Toffees, before looking ahead to another Monday night match against title-chasing Man City.Blue Monday is brought to you in conjunction with Invisible Wind Factory. We'll be back for the penultimate What's the Score? at the Windy ahead of the City game, where you'll be able to enjoy pre-match drinks and food from Pierogi and Pickles. “Boże Narodzenie” is the beautiful (and very Polish) way to say “Christmas,” and in this festive micro-lesson you'll pronounce it like you're seated at the wigilia table. First you hear the phrase at native speed, then slowed down so you can master the nasal “ę” and the soft “ź.” We drop it into three holiday-ready sentences: – “Wesołych Świąt!” (Merry Christmas) – “Spędzam święta z rodziną.” (I'm spending the holidays with family.) – “Kocham polskie potrawy świąteczne.” (I love Polish Christmas dishes.) Repeat-along track included—perfect while you wrap gifts or wait for the first star to appear. Challenge: post a 5-second video of your Christmas tree with the caption “Wesołych Świąt od [your name]” and tag us @learnpolishpodcast—we'll repost the coziest ones.
The Steelers are shifting gears, but not in the ways you'd expect. As Pittsburgh gears up for its first-ever draft selection meeting in the heart of the Steel City, whispers of change are flying—yet many signals suggest the team will largely stick to its tried-and-true core. Why is Mike McCarthy's arrival unlikely to overhaul the Steelers' identity? And what does it mean for the future of their star pass rushers like Herbig and Highsmith? Here we are in the week of maybe we want the Beer Cruise World Series (what else would you call a Brewers/Mariners match up?), but sure do like the idea of Canadians right now, and even though we like some guys a lot it's a no go for LAD in our hearts. 15 innings of ball and we spend our time on a fish race and Kerry Carpenter not cleaning up after himself. Okay, also Jorge Palanco and Leo Rivas. We've got small guys playing small ball and Toronto sports teams crosstraining among themselves. We don't share Bad Bunny's fandom but defend his right to sit out God Bless America because the only stretch song where standing is compulsory if able is Take Me Out. We don't focus on Orion's mistake as much as his accountability and the support of his team. And how ‘bout that Ernie Clement?Pottymouth remembers Mike Greenwell including a story about a gator which we do not condone but understand its place in lore. The Rays are sold and the former owner shares the wealth. And MLB says Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion without saying Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. We say, “We are saving Humpy for the Moment,” “Is there a sad Pierogi?” and “We are allowed to say them because we are not funded by the Federal Government.” Fight the man, send your game balls to Meredith, get boosted, and find us on Bluesky @ncibpodcast, on Facebook @nocryinginbball, Instagram @nocryinginbball and on the Interweb at nocryinginbball.com. High-profile celebrity attorney Alan Dershowitz got into a feud at a Martha's Vineyard farmer's market when a local vender would not sell him pierogis over his legal representation of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Good Pierogi co-owner Krem Miskevich said they were “legally justified” in turning Dershowitz away. The owner said they believed selling to him was equivalent to supporting his decisions and statements. We discussed more details about “Pierogi-gate” and welcome listeners' thoughts!

If you live in Allegheny County, your taxes went up — slightly — this year, to help pay for all the services we rely on. But the extra money isn't going to be enough. A recent controller report found our finances are "unsustainable" long term, especially with looming budget cuts from the federal government. Host Megan Harris is sitting down with our top official, County Executive Sara Innamorato, to ask what it's been like to plan around the chaos, discuss her biggest achievements over the past year — including affordable housing and financial help for first-time homebuyers — and one idea she spotted in Wisconsin that she really wants to bring to the Burgh. On this episode, we're hanging out with Casey White, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Jaju Pierogi, to hear how she turned a niche Polish dumpling into a nationally known brand. From selling out at farmers markets to landing in over 2,500 grocery stores like Whole Foods, Sprouts, and Costco, Casey shares the behind-the-scenes highs and lows of growing a bootstrapped business. She opens up about early doubts, what made her double down on such a specific product, and how she and her team stayed scrappy while scaling. We also get into the real talk—like what it's actually like to survive in the tough world of grocery retail, why some big risks paid off (and some didn't), and how Shark Tank taught her more than she expected. Casey doesn't hold back when it comes to the hard stuff, from shelf space battles to founder burnout—and she shares what she'd do differently if she could start all over again. Pierogi zemsty. Sekretny składnik zabił 40 gangsterów w Haiti. Kim jest „Adam”? Tułów wyłowiony z Tamizy.
Author and accomplished musician Nick Greenberg welcomes readers into the heart of Cincinnati, where pierogi slinging food truck chef Anton Cherny is about to make a series of bad decisions in the new book The Culinary Caper. When readers meet Anton, he is up to his eyeballs in debt and desperate to find a way out of his dire situation. Enter Ricky, Anton's old art school buddy, who has concocted a daring solution: art thievery. The plan is straightforward. While catering parties for members of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals teams, who are unknowingly buying priceless works of previously pilfered art, Anton and Ricky swap out the paintings with forgeries, then return the originals to the insurance company for the generous reward money. Easy-peasy, until Anton discovers that his new girlfriend is the daughter of a ruthless Russian mob boss. Adding to his plateful of anxieties are the emotional and financial strains of supporting a son he's never met, fielding threats from a Tolstoy-quoting loan shark, and mounting tension with his food truck partner. Will Chef Anton have to face the reality that his goose is cooked? Or can he employ his culinary expertise to prevail over the multifaceted morass in which he finds himself? The Culinary Caper is part of a highly entertaining three-book series from Greenberg that blends equal measures of food, music, humor, crime and romance with eccentric characters and unlikely escapades.

GUY GARDNER: WARRIOR #0 (1994)It is our first podcast guest in a LONG time as Shawn's brother -- the mighty Brian Marek -- joins us to talk about pivotal (to Shawn and Brian at least) 90's comic GUY GARDNER: WARRIOR. It is the Zero Hour issue that reboots Guy as a descendant of a race of peace-keeping aliens who have been traveling the cosmos in a quest to create the perfect, well, warrior. This all gets SUPER body horror pretty quick, with veiny cannon arms and flesh syringes. For the most part, we put this over pretty strongly because the Guy Gardner aesthetic from his era is totally 90s and totally pro wrestling and it's the best. All this plus we chat about the Ultimate Warrior's corpse running amok in the DC Comics offices, Power Girl's forgotten baby, Guy's Irish heritage and which foods you should NOT bring to an orgy.[ONE MORE THING — this podcast was recorded using Streamyard and may eventually come out as video on our YT channel. That being said, the audio does have some aberrations and skips that were unavoidable or skipped over so please bear with us. It was our first time recording the podcast in this format and will need to fine-tuned. Thanks!]*** PROPER COMIC BOOK DISCUSSION STARTS AT 00:16:24 ***Promo: #JSAPRIL (https://fireandwaterpodcast.com/podcast/jsapril/)Follow Brian on Instagram for dog pics and pierogi stuff (https://www.instagram.com/pieroguy/)Continue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter / Instagram / Facebook / Threads / Bluesky or email the show at worstcollectionever@gmail.comAlso, get hip to all of our episodes on YouTube in its own playlist! https://bit.ly/WorstCollectionEverYTDownload the podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and wherever you get your favorite shows. In 1967, the small town of St. Paul, Canada declared that they were a place that welcomed everyone, even the aliens. They did this by building a giant UFO landing pad, hoping to attract intergalactic tourists. They timed it to coincide with Canada's centennial celebrations.Although most of the town saw it as a light hearted joke the driving force behind the alien parking space Margo Lagassee, was a firm believer in the outer space community. Paul Boisvert who was the part of the original crew behind the landing pad tells Anoushka Mutanda-Dougherty how St. Paul became a destination spot for extraterrestrial visitors. He also makes clear if aliens do descend on St. Paul he “would be pleased to feed them some Pierogi, Garlic Sausage and Pea Soup.”Eye-witness accounts brought to life by archive. Witness History is for those fascinated by the past. We take you to the events that have shaped our world through the eyes of the people who were there. For nine minutes every day, we take you back in time and all over the world, to examine wars, coups, scientific discoveries, cultural moments and much more. Recent episodes explore everything from football in Brazil, the history of the ‘Indian Titanic' and the invention of air fryers, to Public Enemy's Fight The Power, subway art and the political crisis in Georgia. We look at the lives of some of the most famous leaders, artists, scientists and personalities in history, including: visionary architect Antoni Gaudi and the design of the Sagrada Familia; Michael Jordan and his bespoke Nike trainers; Princess Diana at the Taj Mahal; and Görel Hanser, manager of legendary Swedish pop band Abba on the influence they've had on the music industry. You can learn all about fascinating and surprising stories, such as the time an Iraqi journalist hurled his shoes at the President of the United States in protest of America's occupation of Iraq; the creation of the Hollywood commercial that changed advertising forever; and the ascent of the first Aboriginal MP.(Photo: Paul Boisvert on the landing pad.
