"The wrestling podcast that's not just for wrestling fans" returns and has found a new home at Love Wrestling, and we're kicking things off in a big way! We're thrilled to welcome the voice of the National Wrestling Alliance Joe Galli to the show! The NWA is coming off a huge weekend with the EMPOWERRR and NWA 73 events, and Joe offers a snapshot of what the excitement in the locker room looks like en route to Chase Park Plaza, as well as working with Tim Storm and Velvet Sky at commentary, charming stories of the late Joseph Hudson and much more. Plus, you may know that Joe is a reporter out of San Antonio - an Emmy Winning reporter at that! We speak about the unlikely comparisons and overlap between the worlds of pro wrestling and conventional reporting, the mental taxation of covering difficult stories, and revisit a viral news clip in which Joe masterfully deals with a troll trying to drop a "FHRITP" on air. Smark & Friends is available through Love Wrestling's Podbean and other major podcatchers, along with the full video of this interview on Love Wrestling's YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook. The Biden administration is in da house; we'll mark the occasion by taking a moment to review the wokefest and pearl clutch-off that was the presidential inauguration. Then more silliness on the part of the media when an innocent prank is pegged as an assault, and of course a break down of the New York Mets dick pick scandal. When an American journalist was slapped on the butt as she was reporting live during a run, it went viral for many reasons. Most saw it for the on-the-job physical assault that it was, but a few didn't think it was a big deal and that she should "lighten up." For broadcast journalists who've experienced that kind of violation, it's not something you easily forget -- and that's not even the worst example. BTS with CTV Vancouver host Penny Daflos sits down with her colleagues, Shannon Paterson, Mi-Jung Lee and Scott Roberts as they describe similar situations where they were accosted on and off the air. From shouts of FHRITP to punches flying outside a courthouse, they discuss the difficult situations they've been in, and why there seems to be a different expectation of what's acceptable behaviour toward journalists than other working professionals.
