Send us a textThe Miami Dolphins are in the spotlight again, but this time it's not all sunshine and touchdowns. In this video, we break down the real problem the Dolphins have with their star wide receiver, Tyreek Hill, following their game against the New York Jets.
I first came across the term “mastermind” in a beat-up, weathered copy of my father-in-law’s book, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Granted, the original masterminds involved an old school hierarchy of founding father types we read about in school text books. Fast forward today and the you’ll find the “mastermind” has evolved into something more flexible, creative, innovative, and value driven. What is a mastermind exactly? From Hill’s book it’s the “coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose.” Having a mastermind, particularly for business, is a great place for support and growth. After all, you are the average of the five people you most spend your time with, according to personal development consultant Jim Rohn. Over the years, I’ve belonged to several masterminds, some free, some paid, some in-person, some online. I found I don’t thrive in huge Facebook groups where it’s easy to get lost. I also do better in groups where other people are committed to growth, and there’s more personalization so was pleasantly surprised with this group I recently joined. In this episode, I’m excited to have a conversation with one of the co-founders Gina Horkey of Mamapreneur Mastermind. (Last week I interviewed the other co-founder Ariel Rule). What I find refreshing about my conversation with Gina is how outgoing, yet low-key her style is for someone in the online marketing world where there tends to be a lot of clutter. :) So, I hope you’ll sit back, relax and enjoy the conversation. Who is Gina? Gina Horkey is a married, millennial mama to two precocious toddlers from Minnesota. Additionally, she’s a professional writer and online business marketing consultant with a decade of experience in the financial services industry. Gina enjoys helping other freelancers gear up to quit their day jobs and take their side hustles full-time via her website, Horkey HandBook. Quotes from Gina A lot of times we tend to think and over process stuff to a point that we talk ourselves out of even trying because we’re convinced that we don’t have what it takes and that we’ll fail so instead of knowing everything we’re expected to know which is completely impossible especially because everyone comes from a completely unique position and experience. Know enough to get started and learn from the actions you take. (9:42) So I think you should figure out what your goals and dreams are, and what it’s gonna take to reach them, and then you could define your own success, based on your own personal values. End (13:32) I formed a ton of relationships online and just to surround yourself with people that get you is pretty important and powerful and enjoyable. (20:48) What You’ll Learn How knowing your top priorities at the moment will help keep you focused. For Gina, they're faith, family, health and business. As the primary breadwinner, business may take the front seat from time to time, and it's totally okay to change priorities as things in business and life change all the time—as long as you're intentional and focused on your end results. The importance of surrounding yourself with people embarking on the same journey, whether entrepreneurial or other life based activity. This is where a mastermind group can come in handy.
