Túrin es el hijo de Húrin Thalion y Morwen Eledhwen. Su familia está marcada por la maldición de Morgoth. Húrin es capturado por Morgoth, quien lo maldice a él y a su descendencia. Túrin returns to his home in Dor-lomin but his mother and sister are gone. Realizing he has been deceived and in a fit of blind rage, he kills Brodda and the Easterlings. He returns to the wilderness and he takes the name Turambar, meaning Master of Doom. Morwen rides into the wilderness seeking Túrin, and Mablung and his men follow to protect her and bring her back. Túrin is welcomed by Orodreth, and he wins renown. Finduilas' heart is turned to Túrin. Gwindor warns Finduilas of his doom and the curse of Morgoth against the children of Húrin. Orodreth takes Túrin as a counselor, and Nargothrond flourishes and grows in might. Morwen and Nienor at last flee to Doriath, but find that Túrin is gone. The enraged Eldar furiously pursue Morgoth's forces to the very gates of Angband. Morgoth unleashes his full strength on them. Then Ulfang carries out his treacherous plan and attacks Maedhhros from the rear. His forces are scattered and the sons of Fëanor retreat. Azaghâl, Lord of Belegost, and the Dwarves hold back Glaurung heroically. Azaghâl is defeated but he badly wounds the dragon, and the beasts of Angband retreat. This is a recording of one of the sessions on Tolkien held this summer, 2021. Of the topics considered, the nature of dragons is paramount. What is a dragon? Tolkien said "I desired dragons with a profound desire. Of course, I in my timid body did not wish to have them in the neighborhood . . . . But the world that contained even the imagination of Fáfnir was richer and more beautiful, at whatever cost of peril.” Tolkien's dragons are of the Western variety. Treasure hording, highly intelligent, they cannot ignore riddles but are inhuman in their destructive nature and tend to spread despair & half-truths through their greed and hatred. The English word, "dragon", derives (via Middle English, Old French, and Latin) from Ancient Greek δράκων drákōn, "serpent, dragon", from δέρκομαι, "I see", ἒδρακον, "I saw", δἐδορκα, "I have seen" (in various senses); hence perhaps "sharp-sighted one"; or because a snake's eyes seem to be always open. The Greek word probably derives from an Indo-European base derk- meaning "to see"; the Sanskrit root dŗç- also means "to see". Dragons, therefore, have to do with vision, insight, wisdom. They are "the final test of heroes" as professor Tolkien wrote. The encounter with a Western dragon poses a tremendous challenge but the reward for success, as Dr. Jordan Peterson points out, is riches beyond compare. Begin again the adventure at the end of days. This episode takes place immediate after the party defeated Gwarthaur and the raised and possessed Túrin Turambar and Glaurung. Jared reminds the players the state of things, and the group decides what to do with the Silmaril of Maedhros, the Master Palantir, and the tainted rapier (that they trapped Gwarthaur in).

During this 2nd part of the fight, both Burin and Raiken are able to attack again. Glaurung and Túrin fall in battle, and Okrin begins the ritual to bind Gwarthaur.

In this episode we pick up where our in-person sessions left off. The group continues fighting Finduilas, Turin, Glaurung, and Gwarthaur. Turin escapes the Force Cage, Glaurung gets a vital part of his anatomy cut off, Burin is charmed, and Okrin turns into an ape. Fun is had.

The last of the in-person session. Apologies for the poor sound quality. The heroes will start the next session against the remaining enemies: Finduilas, Glaurung, and Túrin Turambar (he and Gwarthaur are still stuck in the magic box).

While still fighting the undead associates of Túrin Turambar (aka The Man in Black, aka The Shadow, aka Gwarthaur). Túrin shows up riding his nemesis in life, Glaurung the Deceiver. While engaged in mortal combat, Feredir and Túrin clash the sister swords of Angirel and Anglachel (Gurthang) together. This causes a grand explosion that breaks both blades.

Against them he sent his most formidable servant, Glaurung, a powerful spirit in the form of a huge wingless dragon of fire. Sardonic and mocking, Glaurung manipulated the fates of Túrin and Nienor by lies of diabolic cunning and guile, and the curse of Morgoth was fulfilled. The earliest versions of this Tolkien story go back to the end of the First World War and the years that followed. But long afterwards, when The Lord of the Rings was finished, he revised and greatly enlarged it, enhancing complexities of motive and character. It became the dominant story in his later work on Middle-earth. But he could not bring it to a final and finished form. In this book, Christopher Tolkien has constructed, after long study of the manuscripts, a coherent narrative without any editorial invention.

We continue our trilogy of episodes on Chapter 21 of The Silmarillion and Tolkien’s tragic hero Túrin Turambar. Túrin comes to Nargothrond with Gwindor, then quickly surpasses his friend in the favor of the king and the love of the king’s daughter. Túrin’s military advice brings early victory, but his deeds soon draw the attention of Morgoth, who responds with a massive army led by the dragon Glaurung.
