We don't talk much about power in church, though those of us in responsibility seem to need it. The basic human condition is one of weakness and wealth and reputation, even brute strength ("brains and brawn") won't accomplish the most important things in life. In this episode we talk about Dallas Willard's The Divine Conspiracy and the gospel of God coming to work with us. Today we see God has rules for mankind. First being there is Only One God, and One Savior. An exposition from Numbers 15:13-15
Nathan Buttery from StAG Church, Cambridge on 07/09/2014
Clap your hands, all you peoples; shout to God with loud songs of joy. For the Lord, the Most High, is awesome, a great king over all the earth. He subdued peoples under us, and nations under our feet. He chose our heritage for us, the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah God has gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the king of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm. God is king over the nations; God sits on his holy throne. The princes of the peoples gather as the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God; he is highly exalted. Psalms 47:1-9 NRSV

Today we see the question of who is the Lord? Answered when we see that the Lord interacts in the affairs of King's and men. And we see the Lord reaching down through all of history to bring humanity back to Him.

Explore the tragic story in graphic detail of David’s children as they deal with the consequences of sin. Hear about the rape of Tamar by her half-brother Amnon and the two-fold motivation for Absalom’s murder of Amnon. See how this story touches all of our own lives as we deal with our sin natures and the importance of controlling our lusts as a part of personal responsibility.

God has his commandments and everything, but aren’t there times when there are exceptions to God’s rule? It’s a trick we’ve all tried to pull. When a particular sin is too hard for us to avoid, we say to God—or perhaps a priest—something like, “I know the Church says don’t do this thing, but in my case it’s different.” In my case, there are obstacles that make avoiding the sin impossible. In my case, I think doing that thing is justified because of xyz, in my case … etcetera. This is what Fr. Mike calls exceptionism (not to be confused with exceptionalism). Exceptionism, Fr. Mike says, is the belief that God will make an exception for you when it comes to his judgment of a certain sin. There’s a reason why we say justice is blind, and our God is the God of justice. He will always be merciful to the contrite heart, but—contrary to what many people believe today—he doesn’t make exceptions to the law he gave us.
11-04-2018. Pastor Justin Limmer's sermon 'God's Kingdom', continues the series on 'The Kingdom of God'.
Jimmy Davis - Why did God give His people the Law? In this message we consider how God’s Law is a guardrail, guardian, and guide. We also consider how Jesus makes it possible for law-breaking sinners to live in community and on mission with a holy God!
Sermon Notes: 1) Have you ever thought carefully about the fact that God has already anticipated our sin and factored it into his plans to such an extent that he even works salvation through it? Do so now. What does this tell us about God’s nature and character? (2) Think about a time when you have done something that you now recognise was against God’s will and that has had long term implications for your life. Have you sought God’s forgiveness? If not, do so now. Are you now confident that he had already factored your sin into his plans for you and that you can now move on within God’s will? If not, pray that God would give you that confidence and, if you would think that it might help, talk to Eddie or one of the other Church leaders about this.
Prayer and Meditation
In book one of Psalms, the writers praise God for his justice, express confidence in God's compassion, recount the depravity of humanity, plead for vindication, ask God to deliver them from their enemies, speak of the blessedness of the forgiven sinner and portray God as a shepherd. We should worship God with the same sense of adoration found in these psalms. In chapter 11 we learn God's rule provides stability in the midst of panic. Because we can trust him, we can face our problems. READ PSALM Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for this day. I thank you for our blessings. I pray you watch over us and place your hand over this community, our friends, and our neighbors. In Jesus' name, Amen.

The Psalms and Jesus Both Call Us to Decide Now to Live Under God’s Rule
God has designed praise as a pathway for us to walk in victory.
Dr. Russ Quinn | 04-13-16 WED | Ruth Enon Baptist Church, Morris, AL | enonbc.org
All of us know what it's like to live under the rule (or thumb) somebody. And when that somebody is RUTHLESS or a jerk, life is simply miserable. Believe it or not, a big part of what the Gospel is all about is the arrival of God's RULE. In this message, Max Vanderpool ties one of the biggest themes of the Bible together with the Christmas narrative - and why it's worth it to worship and follow.
