This week we're chatting with Reggie Morris, the boy's basketball coach at Raytown South High School, and one of this year's Blue KC Coaches with Character honorees. What is the Blue KC Coaches with Character program? Since 2017, CYITML has partnered with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Kansas City and the Kansas City Royals for a program called Coaches with Character. Each year we recognize six coaches who are making Kansas City a better place. This year we are featuring the coaches on this podcast, because, who knows better about leadership, building teams, team chemistry and so on than successful high school coaches?Reggie Morris, the boys' basketball coach at Raytown South High School, was our second Coaches with Character recipient this year, back in May.Morris is starting his third year at Raytown South after a successful stint as the coach at Grandview High School, where his teams won back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019. Morris' resume includes being selected as KC Metro Basketball Coach of the Year twice, the Conference Coach of the Year award winner three times, from 2017-2019, and the District Coach of the Year for four consecutive years from 2017-2020.Ultimately, though, Morris is about what happens away from basketball for the young men he coaches. Culture is huge for Morris. And his goal, like it is with our C-10 Mentoring & Leadership program, is to prepare his players, as well as other students with whom he comes in contact at Raytown South, for their next stage in life.Morris talks about all of that, defines COMPASSION, takes a swing at Pregame Batting Practice, and much more. LINKS:Here's the article about Reggie Morris as the May Blue KC Coaches with Character honoree. Here's a link to the Blue KC documentary, Not Good Enough, that Reggie and Matt reference. Callie Welty is a 2023 American Star Farmer Finalist, and after speaking with her it is not hard to understand why. Callie has had three things ingrained into her since a young age; love of the FFA, love of Brahman cattle and love for the Texas A&M Aggies. Today, at age 19 she has become the president of the American Junior Brahmans Association, she is studying agricultural communications in College Station and the foundation of the SAE that has led her to be an American Star Finalist is her herd of Brahman cattle. In the interview Callie talks a lot about how mentors have played an important role in her development as a student, student leader and breeder of cattle. It is a point that should be emphasized as too many people try to go it alone when there are experienced people that are more than willing to give advice and share life experiences. Callie is doing great things with the help of these mentors, and it shines through in her interview.

"I am so happy and grateful now that I realize that I have the time to accomplish everything I want to accomplish in my day." That is the affirmation that Donna gave me mid cast to elevate my spark… and it’s working:)! I am pumped to welcome Donna Deteau to the T&T mic, she is a connect from one of my fave former Grandview High School laxers, Maddie, also a T&T guest herself (Ep. 17)- you know I love connects of connects! This is an awesome cast, packed full of things you can do right now to elevate your spark, dial in your goals, and sharpen your edge. Get the mind right and universe, body, and the people you keep around you will follow. Donna lays down some small, but powerful skills you can practice on the daily without over committing to a major routine. If you are an athlete looking to elevate your game, a business person looking to make more money and see the opportunity in front of you, or if your someone looking to better your communication and relationships with people (and yourself)- this one is for you. We discuss goal setting, life skills, mindset, and the power of affirmations. We are what we think. Take notes on this one and follow up with Donna accordingly if you want to go further- I highly recommend it! Change your mind, change your life! Highlights: Mindset and the power of thoughts. Elevating your spark, on all levels. Practical skills you can do right now to dial in your thinking. Affirmations and goals. Intentions and knowing one’s self. Community and conscious awareness. Communication and relationships. Making money and being ok with abundance. Believing that anything is possible. Donna Deteau Donna was born in Texas but at the age of 8, when she and her family visited Colorado for the first time, she realized that Colorado was her “heart home.” Every day, she expresses deep gratitude to be able to live in the physical place of her heart home. Donna spent 1/3 of her life in corporate America, 1/3 in nonprofits and 1/3 as an entrepreneur. She founded 2 other successful businesses before she became a Success Building Coach: a catering biz and a renovation biz. She shared with me that when she was catering, she thought, “this is my purpose…to make events, parties and holidays easier and worry-free for others”. Then, when she was renovating, she thought “this is my purpose in life…to design and create living spaces for people who want a better home but don’t know how to go about creating it”. But it was when she began coaching that she experienced true passion, jumping out of bed every single day so excited for the day to begin. She told me “I am so grateful that coaching others found me because now I’m in service to others every day of my life. My clients get the tools to understand who they really are — their true, authentic selves. And they get the tools to get exactly what they want, whether that be earn enough to retire early, purchase and live in their dream home, create a relationship and/or family, travel the world 6 months out of the year, or simply earn a 7-figure income.” “Coaching”, she says, “is the life that I was born to do.” Check out my video business card! https://vimeo.com/435971247 Donna Deteau Elevate Your Spark! elevatespark.com @ElevateSpark Connect with T&T: IG: @TurmericTequila Facebook: @TurmericAndTequila Website: www.TurmericAndTequila.com Host: Kristen Olson IG: @Madonnashero Tik Tok: @Madonnashero Email: Info@KOAlliance.com Website: www.KOAlliance.com

The ancient Greek, Diogenes of Sinope, went in search of an honest man. Dafna Michaelson of Cincinnati went in search of problem solvers and idea generators. She had better luck. In fact, Dafna, founder and president of The Journey Institute, traveled to all 50 states and Washington DC to hunt down people doing extraordinary things on behalf of their businesses and communities. Dafna detests whiners. Her philosophy is straightforward: If you want to complain about some aspect of your business or community, then you have to be willing to do something about it. And if you can't do it yourself, find those who can and cheerlead for them. This week on Monday Morning Radio, Dean Rotbart and his guest co-host, son Maxwell, interview Dafna and hear how she's mobilizing people to solve their own problems. Dean and Maxwell share the hosting responsibilities each Sunday on Radio Chavura, a 30-minute broadcast radio program that focuses on the Jewish Community of greater-Denver. The program airs at 6:30 pm on 990 KRKS AM in Denver. Dean, a member of the Wizard Academy faculty, is also the weekly co-host of Business Unconventional, a one-hour weekly broadcast that airs on 710 KNUS AM in Denver. David Biondo, a wealth management expert and authorized Bank on Yourself advisor, is the regular host of B. Unconventional. When he’s not on the radio, Maxwell teaches 12th grade psychology and 9th grade geography at Grandview High School in Aurora, Colorado. Be sure to follow B. Unconventional on Twitter: @BUnRadio and subscribe to Roy H. Williams's Monday Morning Memo. The best things in life really are free!
