Pastor Marshall Ochs | July 20, 2025In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Hosea 11-12. These chapters show God reflecting on His relationship with Israel: as a loving Father who raised His son, Israel, only to be met with rebellion and rejection, which led to just punishment but also held a promise of compassionate redemption. Hosea urges readers to seek the Lord, trust His plans even amidst personal stubbornness, and understand God's actions by remembering His past faithfulness as revealed in His Word.

It is perfectly acceptable and Biblical for women to lead Bibles studies outside the church as an ancillary addition to the church, and especially if it is a viable avenue for study of the Word on a daily basis, like I'm doing on this show, and paving the way for all of us to be closer to the Lord and become more knowledgeable of the Bible. Fresh off a month in Tanzania training pastors, Josh Warren brings the heat (and a bit of humor) as he dives into Hosea 11 to unpack the nature of biblical prophecy and God's relentless love. In this powerful episode, you'll explore why prophecy isn't just about predicting the future, but about calling hearts to repentance and trust—then and now. From golden calves to gospel clarity, from the rebellion of Israel to the faithfulness of Jesus, this sermon invites you to see the continuity of God's story through history and into your own life. What does it mean that Jesus fulfills what Israel could not? How should God's kindness lead us—not to complacency, but to humble obedience? This message is full of deep insight, honest reflection, and a strong reminder: God has always done the heavy lifting, and He's still drawing us to Himself.
Pastor Tim continues our series through Hosea by unpacking chapter 11.

Hosea laments Israel's lusts for idols, but never loses sight of God's unfailing love and compassion. In Hosea 11, we hear God's constant call for his people to return to him. This sermon follows the Four Pages of the Sermon method developed by Paul Scott Wilson, a framework designed to move from trouble to grace both in the text and in our lives. It invites listeners to reflect deeply on the nature of divine love—one that refuses to abandon, even when abandonment seems justified. Major Themes from the Minor Prophets: Powerful Lessons from God's Faithfulness to Love and to Judge | Hosea 11-14 | Pastor Will Cover
If you watch the news, you're well aware of the evil in our world. And if you believe the commentators, you might be tempted to think evil is winning. But here is the good news we'll hear in this final study of Hosea: God always wins. So hop aboard the Bible Bus as we hear more about the unfailing love and mercy of our gracious Lord.

This sermon uses the story of a homeless man seeking reconciliation with his estranged mother as a springboard to explore the book of Hosea. The pastor parallels the mother's conditional love with God's unconditional love, contrasting the son's need for transformation rather than mere change. Hosea's marriage to Gomer, a prostitute, serves as a parable of God's unwavering faithfulness to his unfaithful people, Israel, ultimately culminating in the arrival of a savior who offers redemption. The sermon emphasizes that humanity's inherent sinfulness necessitates not self-improvement, but divine transformation through Jesus Christ, a message particularly relevant during the Christmas season. The overarching purpose is to offer hope and reassurance of God's relentless love to those feeling distant from Him.Support the showThanks for listening! Steve Wiggins of GroundworksMinistries.com is sharing a devotional from the Old Testament book of Hosea, Chapter Eleven.
Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them; for the ways of the Lord are right, and the upright walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them. - Hosea 14:9
“How can I give you up, O Ephraim? How can I hand you over, O Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I treat you like Zeboiim? My heart recoils within me; my compassion grows warm and tender. I will not execute my burning anger; I will not again destroy Ephraim; for I am God and not a man, the Holy One in your midst, and I will not come in wrath.” Hosea 11:8-9

In a refreshing turn, Hosea prophesies a beautiful yet heart-wrenching oracle from God that highlights His love, compassion, and enduring commitment to Israel despite their persistent rebellion. This chapter contrasts God's fatherly love with the people's rejection of Him, leading to judgment but also eventual restoration. The Rev. David Boisclair, pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Overland, MO, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Hosea 11. Hosea tells the powerful story of a prophet commanded to marry an unfaithful woman, Gomer, as a living symbol of God's boundless love for Israel despite its repeated betrayals. Through heartbreak and redemption, Hosea's marriage becomes a vivid portrayal of how deeply God desires His people to return to Him, even when they chase after idols. Packed with raw emotion, prophetic warnings, and a message of divine mercy, this book captures God's relentless pursuit and offers a stirring reminder that restoration is always possible—through Jesus--no matter how far one has wandered.
Fr. Mike shortly touches on David's honest prayer in Psalm 109 before diving into the unending love God has for his people. As we continue to journey through our readings, we will begin to see the words of the prophets come to fruition as those who return to the Lord in faith will experience his undying love and forgiveness, despite their unfaithfulness. Today's readings are 2 Kings 9, Hosea 11-14, and Psalm 109. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear.
