A special podcast episode to commemorate Remembrance Sunday, the 11th of November at the 11th hour on the 11th day to remember.  If you think about all of the people that have gone before you. About people who forged the way for you in their own way: What would they want?  What would they say? As we take two minutes to reflect. And I really encourage you to think about what mark or marks do you want to leave on this earth. What do you want people to be saying about you?  But maybe it's time to remember what's really important. Or for me to remind you. Maybe it's a day that we can start to redesign. Because we still have the opportunities to apply wisdom, to be courageous, to be humane, to be a good human being, and to make a difference.  All opportunities to grow and to make a difference.  I asked you to take two minutes to reflect and I'd love to know what was your biggest moment of clarity. You can take advantage our new exclusive free training; "How to get ahead, build long-lasting confidence and stay productive in four simple steps” This reveals; Why most people never build true long-lasting confidence and never get to live a happy, healthy life The exact strategy productive people use to become a master of their own time The tools your NEED to create YOUR BEST YEAR EVER   https://coaching.mi365.me/workshop   All our podcasts are available at: https://petecohen.com/podcast/ I help everyday people achieve their goals & dreams!   Helping and coaching people in my expertise. Current wisdom says that a Black Hole is the most powerful force in the universe. Anything that gets too close to a black hole is drawn into it and transformed. This desire to transform is within all of us but it will only come to pass if we have the focus of a black hole – to do one thing and to do it to the exclusion of all else. This idea – the ability to transform and being ‘in the zone’ shows up in all sorts of places. From Bagpuss – who with his friends uses imagination and creativity to discover the purpose in the strange objects Emily brings home - to the concept of ‘Flow’ as defined by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, we all recognise this ability to enter a space where we are totally focused on what we are doing. In this podcast, I explore how we are wired to change – either to grow or to die – and the tools and techniques you can use to train yourself to have focus, even in this world which is full of distraction. Take action - not now but right now!   You can take advantage of our new exclusive free training; "How to get ahead, build long-lasting confidence and stay productive in four simple steps” This reveals; Why most people never build true long-lasting confidence and never get to live a happy, healthy life The exact strategy productive people use to become a master of their own time The tools you NEED to create YOUR BEST YEAR EVER   https://coaching.mi365.me/workshop   All our podcasts are available at: https://petecohen.com/podcast/ I help everyday people achieve their goals & dreams!   Helping and coaching people in my expertise. Good, Better, Best Never Let it Rest, Until your Good is Better And your Better, Best   My Mum learned this little ditty when she was a child, and she is still saying it to this day and it has rubbed off on me. I believe that the most amazing thing anyone can do is work to get better in their life. It isn’t easy – everything around us has made our lives easy and we encouraged to settle rather than pay the price for improving. And yet, as a species, settling is killing us. Your life is a story and you are the author. Every choice you make and every action you take, advances your story. So, when you reach the end of your life and your story comes to an end, what do you want to be able to look back on and say? In this podcast I’ll draw on the examples of some of the top performers in their field – people like Michael Jordan, Ronnie O’Sullivan and Serena Williams – who have never stopped trying to get better. From them I’ll challenge you to follow their example and work to get better every single day.   Take action - not now but right now!     You can take advantage our new exclusive free training; "How to get ahead, build long-lasting confidence and stay productive in four simple steps” This reveals; Why most people never build true long-lasting confidence and never get to live a happy, healthy life The exact strategy productive people use to become a master of their own time The tools your NEED to create YOUR BEST YEAR EVER   https://coaching.mi365.me/workshop   All our podcasts are available at: https://petecohen.com/podcast/ I help every day people achieve their goals & dreams!   Helping and coaching people in my expertise. Are you where you want to be in life? Are your health, your relationship and your career exciting you? Or is there still something you need to do in your life? The vast majority of us are caught in a life of mediocrity, settling for where they are because that is what everyone around them is doing. It is only when they find themselves in crisis that they discover just who they are capable of being. So, what will it take for you to go beyond the ordinary and become extra-ordinary? What will excite you to find a reason for acting differently from ‘the rest’? In this podcast, the first in the series on Inspiration into Action I will inspire you to look at your life in a different way and ask yourself some tough questions. In doing so I want you to recognise the gap between where you are and where you want to be and fire you up to go to work on closing that gap – because that is where the magic happens! In 2002 I recorded a podcast with (then) two-times World Snooker Champion, Ronnie O’Sullivan, recording a second one the following year. Now, eighteen years on, Ronnie and I recorded a third podcast together reflecting on what has changed and what has stayed the same. Comparing the three interviews has allowed me to see what it takes to be at the top of your game for two decades and how one develops mastery through practice. Everything Ronnie has done has been about the journey – making every day and every decision part of the success – allowing him to let go of the need to win. He has learned from other leaders in their lives to further develop himself and has taken the decision to step away from the masses and live life on his own terms. In this podcast I reflect on the interviews I’ve conducted with Ronnie over the years and what drives him forward. As a world-class professional living much of his life in the spotlight, he truly shows that success is what you do when no one is watching. Thanks for listening. Now, eighteen years on, Ronnie and I recorded a third podcast together reflecting on what has changed and what has stayed the same. In this fascinating interview, Ronnie will explain how he has changed from being the young and hungry young player to one of the sport’s senior players – more interested in his own improvement and development of the game over winning competitions and prizes. Together we explore what drives him today both within the game and, more importantly, outside it along with the challenges of being a celebrity and the distraction that trying to meet the expectations of others can present. As well as his frank reflections on addiction and his ongoing commitment to personal development, Ronnie will also share his views on mastery and how practice is important but not as important as building habits of the right things and doing things in the right way. From a life in the spotlight since the age of seventeen, Ronnie O’Sullivan is now living life on his own terms. Thanks for listening. Do you ever wish you were unbreakable? That when life’s challenges came along – both physical and mental – you could carry on without pain or suffering. Sounds good, yes? The problem is, that without struggle, there is no challenge and, without challenge, there is no achievement. In this podcast, I explain what it means to be anti-fragile – to be able to face every adversity in life and to learn and grow stronger without breaking. From doing a tough workout at the gym, to practicing silent meditation to having that difficult conversation with a life partner, there are only two choices: to do it or to not do it. One is easier in the short term (stay at home, watch the TV, say nothing); the other leads to a better long-term outcome (fitness, focus, improved relationships). In overcoming obstacles and taking action you will become stronger.   Thanks for listening. We live in an ever-changing world. The pace at which everything moves on and moves forward is both exciting and frightening. Standing still is no longer an option because – as you stand still, everything around you is racing forward, leaving you falling behind. Your life is an everlasting process of reinvention. Change is challenging our concept of normal. We live in a world which is focussed on telling us that we can feel better by external stimulation and the ‘next new thing.’ If mental resilience is your opportunity to bounce back or jump forwards then it is, by definition, as step away from the normal. In this podcast I offer you the opportunity to find a a new normal – one that is right for you and helps you grow and contribute in a fulfilling way, even when doing so means you have to take steps that don’t have immediate appeal.   Thanks for listening. Why is it important to be mentally resilient? So many people today are ‘going with the flow.’ They align themselves to the latest trends and fashions and work hard to be like everyone around them. Yet, they never feel truly satisfied. Humans really want to grow and make a contribution to the world and that can’t be done by doing the same as everyone else. To make that shift, however – to move away from the certainty of fitting in and getting your sense of significance and connection by doing what you’ve always done – you need to be mentally resilient. You need to step away from the familiar and seek to meet higher needs.   In this podcast, I’ll explain the six needs we all need to have meet set you on a different path by asking one simple questions: How do you feel about where you are right now?   Thanks for listening. The idea of ‘winning’ conjures up many different thoughts and reactions in people. What does it really mean to win in your life? The modern world is one that seems to thrive on the idea that we can’t be happy unless we look outside ourselves. It drives us on a path of not having enough or being enough unless… Unless we ‘buy this’ or ‘do that’ or ‘act like those people’… and it leaves us feeling unfulfilled. It creates an idea that ‘winning’ is about getting to some point in your life when you have acquired a certain amount or achieved a certain status.   That’s not what winning is – and in this podcast I’ll explain how winning isn’t the destination – it is the way you live every day. It is the journey – the striving, the struggling and the achieving.  Winning is living the life you choose – not the one dictated to you by the outside world.   Thanks for listening and, if you want to connect with a community of people who are all working to build their motivation, I want to invite you to join the Mi365 Kickstart Facebook page. Now you may not have any Desire to be a world champion but most people have a Desire to achieve more and Be more in their lives. The problem that we have is that ‘life’ kinda gets in the way and we often settle for second best because we don’t have the time, knowledge, or the energy to get round or through our problems. In other words we get stuck or, in many cases, hit our peak, because we are thinking in the same ‘OLD’ way... and unless we change how we think, we will keep getting the same ‘OLD’ results in our lives. What odds would you put on yourself to create the life you want? If you want to be happy or financially free or healthy what are your chances of success based on your past performance? Possibly not great odds – because we are caught in a system where we don’t want to stand out and do your own thing. That’s where motivation comes in. If you are inspired to achieve something or have ideas you want to share with the world, being motivated means you don’t care about fitting in. Being motivated means you will dig in and keep going when things get difficult. Being motivated means you will get up and go when everyone around you is telling you to sit down and quit. This podcast will show you where suffering comes from – in the inactivity many people show despite having dreams goals and ambitions. But also how, to make progress, there is suffering – in the challenge to change and grow.   Thanks for listening and, if you want to connect with a community of people who are all working to build their motivation, I want to invite you to join the Mi365 Kickstart Facebook page. How do you motivate anybody? What gives them the motive to do, or not do, something? Few would disagree that we usually do the things we do because we want something. We want to be stimulated, to enjoy things and to feel good. For many people that sense of ‘feeling good’ comes from getting away from ‘feeling bad’ – they want to escape boredom or hide from depressing or mask pain. They seek pleasure in things that, ultimately make matters worse – junk food, alcohol, drugs, social media… In this podcast, I’ll show how we can be motivated by things that inspire us and lead us towards health, fulfilment and achievement. Human beings are remarkable – we are adaptable and flexible and there seems to be no limit to what we can do or invent. All we need is the right motivation. Motivation – to ‘move through’- is what drives us to take action on anything that we do. For example, what motivated you to get out of bed this morning. Perhaps there was something you were looking forward to doing. Perhaps the cat was demanding to be fed. Perhaps you had to get up in order to get to work on time. These are all forms of motivation. In this podcast I’ll explain why motivation matters and how, if you are open to the possibility of taking action on the things you need to do even when you don’t feel like it, just how much it can move you forward. Because, let’s face it, if you aren’t motivated to move forwards, all that is left is to live a life of regret.   Thanks for listening and, if you want to connect with a community of people who are all working on their health and energy, I want to invite you to join the Mi365 Kickstart Facebook page. There is a saying that “it takes ten years to be an overnight success.” Success takes hard work and dedication and to continue to consistently take action towards that end goal. Right now, many people are consistently taking action which will lead to chronic conditions such as obesity, heart disease, cancer and diabetes. They believe that feeling tired and bloated is normal and we self-medicate with food, alcohol, nicotine or digital entertainment. And we are out of sync with our bodies natural rhythms. In this podcast Pete discusses the body’s circadian rhythm and how this governs so many of the functions of our body to give us balance. I am delighted to share a powerful meditation and visualisation to help you relax and boost your willpower.  Do not listen to this whilst operating machinery or driving. Only listen when you can relax and not be disturbed from the outside world.  I have always been fascinated with the subject of willpower. It is such a vital part of a person’s armoury when changing ingrained patterns of behaviour such as adopting a healthy lifestyle or meeting a goal in life.  If you look it up in a dictionary, the definition of willpower is ‘the unwavering strength of will to carry out one’s wishes.’ Over time I’ve discovered a different, and more helpful, definition is:  Take a moment to read that a couple of times and really think about what that definition means for you and your life. Willpower, or self-control, is the ability to control one’s desires and impulses. The things you need to do. Imagine for a second what your life would be like if you had the ability to control your desires and impulses and, instead, did the things that would take in the right direction all the time.  For most people who have goals, dreams and aspirations, the missing link in the puzzle is a lack of willpower. In fact, self-control came in top when people were asked about what was their biggest failure. Is this a surprise? There are so many distractions ready to divert us from doing what we know we should and that pander to our desires. Social media, the internet, the phone, TV, radio, computer games, and the easy accessibility of food and drink.  And yet, what quality do you suppose is most undervalued in western societies? The answer was revealed in a survey of over a million people. Self–control was ranked last in a list of virtues that people attributed to themselves. This came after honesty, kindness, humour, creativity, bravery and modesty.  This meditation is designed to help you in many ways so enjoy and listen as often as possible to get the maximum benefits.  Thanks for listening and, if you want to connect with a community of people who are all working on their health and energy, I want to invite you to join the Mi365 Kickstart Facebook page. What is the most valuable thing that you own? We like to think it is our health and energy but if it is so valuable why do so many of us take so little care of it? We all have goals dreams and ambitions -  but without your health and the energy to work towards them, nothing will ever be achieved. In the Western World today we have become adjusted to a sick society, where we have settled into a life where we sit for most of the day, then go home, eat processed food, sit watching television and sleep far less than we need. The vast majority of health issues we suffer from can be connected to malnutrition. What we eat and drink is missing the vitamins and our bodies need – it is food-like rather than food. And the result of this is that our immune system is drastically compromised.   With this podcast series, I want to give you a massive wake-up call about what is going on and what it takes to change.   So, do you want to be healthier? Do you want to experience a long life? And, to get there are you ready to deviate from the normal way we live our lives?   But if you want to be stronger and healthier so you're not sick and you walk in a different direction to everyone else require a big decision, possibly the biggest decision you’ll ever make. Not to mention a multimillion-pound Property investor and businessman, and he has accomplished this all by the age of just 30 years old. Pete and Rob talk openly and freely about their views on a range of topics. They look at how ‘disruption’ is the way forward, and how humans need to evolve to grow. Rob is noticeably clear when he says, “If you don’t disrupt yourself, someone else will”. They discuss how all of us need to become addicted to growth. Rob defined a successful person as someone who is lucky enough to be doing something they are inspired to do and can see themselves making a difference. He reminds us that everyone is entitled to ‘their’ story and ‘their’ pain, it is not about comparisons of deprivation and tribulation but expression and gaining acceptance. Everybody has their own way of working for acceptance and validation, this is often the fire that keeps individuals pushing forwards. So, what does it mean to be an entrepreneur? The dictionary definition is ‘someone who takes risks in the hope of profit, (without the comfort or security of a regular pay-cheque).’ In the podcast they touch upon how entrepreneurs live to solve problems, create and make things happen. The importance of having courage and be willing to take the first steps into the uncharted territory. Rob talks about how having such drive ,has  allowed him to work across borders and markets of business,  not being  trapped into a niche, because indeed  the ‘something’ he likes to create, is just that… ‘something’. When asked what Rob’s mission was, he was quick to reply saying that he wants to ‘help as many people as possible get a financial education, to start and scale their businesses and going forward he shall turn his focus on helping young and underprivileged entrepreneurs’. So, while you are alive, the best thing you can do is make sure you take nothing for granted and appreciate everything you have in your life. To savour every moment and count every blessing that comes your way. When you see yourself at the end of you life what do you want to have achieved? What will you see and feel grateful for? When we look at the range of human emotions, gratitude has to be in the top few. Feeling grateful, appreciating someone or something, is a great feeling. The more you feel it, the more you want to feel it. In todays’ podcast I’ll share with you how gratitude can improve your sleep, your sense of connection with others, your relationships and your mental health. The more you feel gratitude, the less space there is for fear, worry and doubt – all those feelings that hold us back and keep us where we are in life. Gratitude takes training and, just like fitness, the more you do it, the easier it gets. So, to give your gratitude a boost, let’s go to work on practicing it every day.   Thanks for listening and, to help you cultivate an attitude for gratitude, I want to invite you to join the Mi365 Kickstart Facebook page. Do you know what you want in life? And do you appreciate what you already have? Most of us live in a world where we are always chasing the ‘next thing’ and want it to come to us easily and quickly. But we fail to see what we already have in our lives and appreciate this – we don’t see how the past challenges and struggles we have had add up to who we are now and what we have learned. It takes practice to appreciate what you have – especially when, at the time, it may not be what we would have chosen for ourselves or others. In today’s podcast I will share with you a way to appreciate what is going on in your life by activating the reticular activation system (RAS) so it is easier to count your blessings.   Thanks for listening and, to help you cultivate an attitude for gratitude, I want to invite you to join the Mi365 Kickstart Facebook page. Why is cultivating gratitude one of the most important decisions you ever make in your life? Gratitude – feeling thankful for other people, for life’s gifts, and for everything we’ve heard, seen and experiences are immensely powerful. Gratitude is a powerful, positive emotion and research shows that it has many psychological, physical, interpersonal, and spiritual benefits. There are strong links between gratitude and mental health and well as cultivating optimism, hope, compassion, and joy. With all these benefits, why isn’t everyone practicing gratitude? It seems so simple – to take a few moments contemplating all you have to be grateful for and see how that makes you feel. But it takes practice and, in my podcast, today I’m inviting you just to stop, pause and reflect on all you have to be thankful for.     Thanks for listening and, to help you cultivate an attitude for gratitude, I want to invite you to join the Mi365 Kickstart Facebook page. The whole world has changed dramatically over the last few months and has certainly made a lot of people stop, think and re-evaluate. In this special podcast, I’m proposing, “What could the legacy be for you?” What is it that you can start to do differently in your life? History has taught us that when there is a crisis, many people rise up and show up like they’ve never done before. In Japan, the word crisis has two symbols –one meaning danger and the other, opportunities – opportunities to move our lives in a different direction. However, what happens after a disaster is that things tend to go back to normal for a lot of people. We go back to what is familiar to us. I don’t want to do that nor do I want you to. Do you ever feel your life needs a kick start? A kick start – which comes from the starter on older motorbikes – creates the momentum to start you on a journey to create the life you want.  But this won’t happen by chance – it happens by design. In this podcast I want to help you kick start your life and head out on a journey of 365 days of working on yourself, installing the habits you need to be healthy, happy and fulfilled in everything you do. That is what Mi365 is all about! The choices we make shape the way things turn out for us and often, the biggest obstacle we face is our own actions. We get excited about a new project and then, when it gets tough, we fall back Or we talk ourselves out of even starting because we don’t believe in ourselves Or we make progress, hit a goal and stop, slipping back to where we were before. If you look back over the past five years you’ll probably see those patterns over and over again. Make today the day when you set out on a new journey – one where you commit to working on yourself and, in five years, looking at all you have achieved and the person you have become. The current situation gives us a unique opportunity to rethink our lives and consider the way we want to show up in the world. Plenty of people are realising that the life they are living isn’t the life they want to live. What is most obvious is that most people are driven by a mindset of having. They believe they need to have things to be happy. The truth is, though, ‘stuff’ doesn’t bring happiness. It isn’t what you have, it is who are are. That is when life becomes truly extraordinary. When you learn to be who you are meant to be. So, take this time of great change to step back and rethink your life. Ask yourself: How do I feel about where I am in life, right now? The re-evaluate, reposition, remodel, reset and recondition. That is how you will create a revolution in your life. Welcome to episode 3 of a series of 4 podcasts on How To Thrive In Challenging Times. This episode is called Your Immunity Needs You When you look at the statistics of those who have lost their lives to Coronavirus something becomes very clear. The vast majority of deaths have been of people who had an underlying health condition. Did you know that only a tiny proportion of medical conditions are outside our control? There are a few which we are born with and the rest come from our lifestyle. We eat processed foods which are low on essential nutrients, we work indoors in artificially lit and ventilated buildings, we fill the world with exhaust fumes and chemicals and we move as little as possible. That is the life we have chosen to live – and everything in modern society is designed around that. Order online, have everything delivered to the door, shopping centres outside town with great big car parks, convenience foods…. All these features of the way we live make us feel that we are in control. The truth is, we aren’t. But we can control our immunity. Take a brief inventory of your body. What state are you in right now? How does your body look? How well does your brain function? How much energy do you have at your command? How dependant are you on pills and potions and chemicals? We KNOW what it takes to be healthy. It’s just that we don’t make those choices. Think of illness and disease as the enemy – and your immunity is the army. If you don’t give your soldiers what they need, they are going to lose the battle. If you want to cultivate a strong immune system, you don’t have to do anything drastic. All you need is the courage to put your immunity first and immediate impulses second. Thanks for listening and before you go I want to invite you to join the Mi365 Kickstart Facebook page. Welcome to episode 2 of a series of 4 podcasts on How To Thrive In Challenging Times. This episode is called Thriving Blindness I share how so many people are felling out of control right now? We are in the midst of an unprecedented set of circumstances: a pandemic which is claiming thousands of lives every day; shortages of basic food and products; schools and public places close; government restrictions on our movement… If someone had described that scenario to you a year ago, you’d have thought it was the plot of some disaster movie. Yet here we are. Locked down, surrounded by fear and uncertainty and being asked to act in ways that are really unfamiliar to us. No wonder we feel out of control. Are you blind to the truth? We may not have control over our circumstances at the moment but, actually, did we ever? There have always been outside factors which have come along and challenged us in our lives. I certainly have! We may have felt we were in control but that’s a form of blindness. The majority of us suffer from this blinkered view of life and the impact it has on us is massive. We believe we have mastery over life because we haven’t anticipated what might go wrong. So, blind to the consequences of our actions, we live a life of ‘now’ and not one preparing us for obstacles ahead. We eat quick and easy processed foods – blind to the impact it has on our immunity We do the bare minimum of exercise – blind to how we are depleting our body’s natural defences We take our relationships for granted – blind to the need to take care of the people around us We continue in the job we don’t really like – blind to the impact this is having on our life and those of the people around us. This may sound harsh but this selective blindness – this detachment for taking ownership of our circumstances – has lefts us vulnerable to the virus that is now spreading across the world and claiming so many lives. Can you see your own potential? In the last podcast I spoke about courage. Now, I want you to draw on that courage to the most difficult thing in you life.  To have the courage to be the person you are really capable of being. To see what you need to do to really thrive and live the life you were meant to live. To open your eyes to the actions you need to take now which will prepare you for the challenges that life will throw in your direction. To do the things you need to do every day, even if you don’t feel like it. You do have control You may feel like you are out of control of your life right now. However, there are only two things that have ever been yours to control: How you think and how you feel. Happy beautiful day. Welcome to this special podcast called Create the future you want In this episode, I share how we all love a good story. Right from early childhood, it is something we all latch on to and enjoy. That’s why we love films - because of the stories they tell and because we can identify with the characters. Have you ever dreamed of being Superman or Erin Brokovitch or Luke Skywalker? A share the power of “The Hero’s Journe” In 1949, American academic Joseph Campbell published a book, The Hero with a Thousand Faces, based on his studies of myth and religion across the ages. He had discovered that all heroic tales have the same 17 stages and this Hero’s Journey, has been recognised ever since as the basic structure of all myth, legend, and literature. That same pattern exists in your life too. You are living your life Something happens to change the status quo – perhaps an illness, or a challenge at work or some other change in your life. You resist the change – you don’t want this change or the potential consequences. You get help and support – from those who come on the journey with you or perhaps from a coach or mentor. Things get really challenging You learn from the experience and come through it stronger and better   What is the best movie in the world? Right now, I invite you to think of your life as a movie. As you look over your past, you can see the events and the point which fit the ‘plot’ above. But, don’t just think of your past movies. Think of your future too. You are the writer, the actor and the director of your own movie. What is the movie you want to create for your life? What is the story you want to tell? What adventures do you want to have? Right now, in the movie of your life, I can guess that things are challenging – as they are for us all. Let this podcast give you the inspiration to go an make this next movie of your life an Oscar-winning performance.   Thanks for listen and I want you to know that I am building a Global revolution to liberate 10 million lives from living by chance to an extraordinary life by design. The Hero’s Journey In 1949, American academic Joseph Campbell published a book, The Hero with a Thousand Faces, based on his studies of myth and religion across the ages. He had discovered that all heroic tales have the same 17 stages and this Hero’s Journey, has been recognised ever since as the basic structure of all myth, legend and literature. That means that now is the time to dig deep and find that inner strength we all have, to keep going in a crisis. Channel your inner-Rocky or your inner-Frodo or your inner-Maria-Von-Trapp and see the future you can create from this challenging time. Happy beautiful day. Welcome to part 4 of the 4 part series on Positive Achievement. This episode is called  “The Ultimate Choice” In this episode, I am look back over this series and share how everyone has things in life they want to achieve. What about you? I’m sure you have even if you haven’t given it much thought or made the firm commitment to take action towards them. What is interesting to me in all the people I’ve coached over the years is that their most compelling goals are not about what they can do for themselves but what they can do for other people. Even those who want to be fitter or to grow a business or find the perfect life-partner are doing it because of the impact they can then have on others around them. And, once they focus on the outcomes they can bring to the rest of the world, they are no longer afraid to take the bold steps to make it happen. Facing fear with love Even the most driven people in the world are afraid. We all are. If I was to ask you to list everything you are afraid of right now, it would probably be a long list. At the same time, there is probably an equally long list of things you love. The Greek philosophers even categorised love into six different types Eros – which is the sensual and erotic love we usually think of Philia – the deep connection that comes with loyalty and friendship – something which many of us find uncomfortable to express Ludus – which is playful love and banter. Agape – selfless love and sacrifice Pragma – the love which is long-established and makes compromise Philautic – the love of self and the love we give to others.   You have a choice Not all of these forms of love will resonate with you but in understanding these you can see which you find easiest to express and which, if unlocked, would move you through feat and to the other side. All you have to do is choose. Choose how you feel; choose the love to express; chose to take action. And that, in the end, will lead to achievement in your life. Thanks for listening and I want you to know that I am building a Global revolution to liberate 10 million lives from living by chance to an extraordinary life by design. In part 3 of this new podcast series, I look The Greatest Achievement Ever What would you say was man’s greatest achievement? Stonehenge? The painting of the Cistine Chapel? Walking on the moon? Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody? It is easy to think of some amazing feats of science, art, and music from across the centuries and think, Ah! But I could never do anything like that. That may be true. You can’t be MichaelAngelo or Neil Armstrong or Freddy Mercury. But you can be you. You are amazing Have you ever stopped for a moment and contemplated the fantastic achievement it is to be you? To have been born (the odds of the unique combination of sperm and egg, of DNA combinations, which create you are something like 400 trillion to one), to have grown into who you are today, to have survived the challenges life has thrown at you… You have to admit, it is pretty incredible. The sad fact is, most people don’t look at themselves in the context of what they have achieved. They only consider what they have failed at. We have a tendency to think negatively and, the more we do it, the more we can spiral down into worry, feat and doubt. We think about our goals and dreams but then tell ourselves I failed before, so who’s to say I won’t fail again? Or we don’t even contemplate setting goals because they are just silly. Everyone will laugh at me. Might as well not bother. How do we get to be this way? When you consider what a hard time we give to ourselves, you have to wonder how on earth it comes about. Babies don’t tell themselves they aren’t good enough or hesitate from doing something they want. Small children ask a lot of bold and searching questions in order to learn and find out about the world around them. But, at some point in early childhood, we learn to be self conscious. We start to speak inwardly to ourselves and question who we are and what we need to do to be liked. Then comes puberty, that agonising time where we try so hard to fit in with everyone around us while, at the same time, we struggle to be individual. Over time, we supress that wonderfully uninhibited sense of self and hide it behind layers of anxiety, doubt and fear. But what if…? Just suppose for a moment that there was another way. Take a moment to imagine what your life would be like if you didn’t hold yourself back but were, instead, just who you were supposed to be? In part 2 of this new podcast series, I look at the difference between a fixed and a growth mindset.   When people join my coaching community, one of the first questions I ask them is whether they have a fixed or a growth mindset. What’s the difference?   The fixed mindset, as the name suggest is all about staying in the same place. Sometimes it is conscious: ‘I’ve never been good at Maths so I may as well not bother.’ More often, it is unconscious – driven by the example of everyone around us and wanting to fit in, or led by the primal brain trying to keep us from getting outside our comfort zone. It shows up in our life in a number of patterns of thinking. “I was born this way” “It didn’t work once – not worth trying again”   The growth mindset operates differently. It is just as much a mix of the conscious and unconscious but it shows up in different language and behaviours: “What can I learn from this setback?” “I love a challenge” “Try, try, try again…”   One of the best ways to describe the difference comes from this Ted Talk from Carol Dweck, Professor of Psychology at Stanford University and one of the leading psychologists in this field. https://youtu.be/hiiEeMN7vbQ She describes how children respond to failure and to success and how to reward them in a way ,which doesn’t feed the fixed mindset. In particular, she emphasis that ‘not passing’ isn’t a fail. It’s just a ‘not yet.’   It all comes down to the choices we make when faced with a challenge. Challenge is, by its very nature, uncomfortable – otherwise we wouldn’t feel a sense of achievement in overcoming them. I am not suggesting otherwise and if, in the middle of a difficult time of your life, you feel tired, emotional or upset there is nothing wrong with you! But then what? As you come through the challenging time (which may be anything from a few minutes to a few years) take the time to look back and reflect on where you are now and what that difficult time has done for you. And ask yourself – how did I grow?   If you have goals and want to test whether you have everything you need to turn them into reality, check out my new goal-setting assessment at https://discover.petecohen.com     Let me share with you this powerful tool to help you work out what goals you have in life and how likely you are to achieve them.     "Take action - not now but right now!   All our podcasts are available at; https://petecohen.com/podcast/ You can subscribe for podcasts here and receive our weekly newsletter to keep you inspired.   Welcome to episode 1 of my brand new 4 part series, based on Positive Achievement.     We all need to achieve. We want to grow. We love a challenge and the sense of success when we overcome the challenge and come through to the other side.   “What A Man Can Be, He Must Be”, said Abraham Maslow when describing the pinnacle of his Hierarchy of Needs.   Over the years, this drive has been given many names: a calling, ‘Syntropy,’ purpose, the meaning of life… to name but a few.   This desire to grow is within all of us and when we are living our life in line with our desire of self-actualisation – when we are achieving – we feel alive and energised and fulfilled in every part of life.   So why do so many of us feel challenged by living our life toward a higher purpose?   The competing forces in our lives   For every moment you feel fired up by life and motivated to move forward, there is a moment when you ‘just don’t feel like it.’   This negative force is also  in all of us (and if you want to learn more about how to overcome it, check out my previous podcast series on willpower).   Whether it is doing the washing up, exercising to get healthy or sitting down and writing the weekly blog, when we consider these mundane but necessary steps toward our goal, we feel pain. The primal part of our body – the part designed to keep us safe by keeping us where we are (i.e. on the sofa where it is warm and comfortable) sends a whole load of signals which encourage us to think that the effort of doing the washing up is less desirable than the spotless kitchen and the delight of our partner in having done this little chore.   And these primal instincts often win, simply because that part of our brain has been around much longer than the part that takes us forward towards out goals.   The long and short of it   So, if the brain is trying to stop you, what can you do to overcome its resistance? It all comes down to long-term thinking and short-term action. So many people stress the importance of having goals  - and yes, knowing what you want to achieve and then making those tangible in the form of goals and objectives is really important. But are they clearly defined and really transformative? Are they underpinned by strong foundations? And do you have what it takes to make them happen?   And, most importantly, are you doing something today, in the here and now, that will make those goals a reality?   So, when you ‘don’t feel like it’ connect to that goal of the future, imagining how that will feel. And then, come back to the task at hand and imagine what it will feel like when that one thing is done.   Because, you see, the sense of achievement you get from finishing is probably the greatest achievement of them all. How to Win the Willpower Game   In the final part of this popular podcast series, I will be looking at the most valuable thing you own, but you may not realise it - It’s your attention. Where you focus your mind at any one time is vitally important to making progress in life. It is also a key component in the use of willpower. Just consider – if you are multi-tasking, with bits of paper all over your desk and music in the background and the phone pinging with social media notifications every ten seconds, just how well do you make decisions. The more distractions there are, the more of your time is spent not fully concentrating. That can add up to a lot of time. And a lot of stress. Pause and plan – the antidote to flight and flight I mentioned stress in the last blog in this series and the devastating impact it has on willpower. The good news is the Kelly McGonigal, author of ‘The Willpower Instinct’ has discovered a technique which is the antidote to ‘fight or flight.’ She calls it ‘pause and plan’ and it makes use of your ability to catch an impulse, pause before you act on it and then decide to make a better decision. This ability to pause is helped massively by meditation – which teaches you to slow your mind and connect to the present moment. Set yourself up for success Meditation isn’t the only answer of course – otherwise everyone would be doing it and we’d have world peace by now. If you want to win the willpower game you need to create an environment which minimises the drain on your attention. So, declutter your workspace and create an environment where you can concentrate. That may mean putting your phone on silent and into a drawer; sorting out the piles of paper which clutter your desk and which cry out ‘pay attention to me’ every time you look at them. The Mi365 morning Another vital factor in winning the willpower game is the ‘pre-match’ preparation. In other words, what you do in the first hour (or half an hour or two hours) of your morning before you go off and do whatever it is you need to do for the rest of the day. There are plenty of books on this and those who are a part of my coaching community (Mi365 Elite Pro know it as the Mi365 Morning. What you do isn’t nearly so important as doing it consistently. Planning out the things that matter – journaling, meditation, exercise, reading, working on self-development to name just a few – and doing them every single day puts you in the best possible position to have a fantastic day, every day. Forgive yourself Even if you do this, though, there will be times when your willpower isn’t there and you make a decision you wish you hadn’t. When that happens, don’t be too hard on yourself. It happens to everyone and it isn’t what you did that matters. It is what you are going to do next. So don’t give up. Look at what happened, see what you can learn from it and get going again in the path that leads you to success. In part 3 of this podcast series, I will look at the superpower, which will allow you to achieve your goals and help you to become invincible.   Do you remember, when you were a kid, making a cape out of your coat and pretending you were a superhero?  I certainly do. Do you remember what your superpower was? Could you “jump a tall building in a single bound?” Did you have ‘Spidey-senses” which tingled? Could you fly? Make yourself invisible? Whatever you pretended as a kid, these days you probably don’t think about superpowers.   Yet, there is one which is common to all humans. A power which, when used, allows you to achieve your goals and to close the gap between where you are and where you want to be. Willpower! Willpower is your ability to make decisions about the things which are important to you. It is the power of choice.   Do you know what you want? Whatever you want in life – to be slim fit and healthy; to be the best parent ever; to grow a business – it is willpower that takes you there. Without willpower, you don’t go to the gym, you snap at the kids, you don’t make those cold calls… Instead, you give in to impulses and only do what you feel like doing.   And achievement is what gives our lives meaning. It is where we grow.   Your superpower has kryptonite If that’s the case, why don’t we always take action? What’s stopping us from powering through and creating the future we’ve always wanted? As I mentioned in my previous blog, Willpower is drained throughout the day. It is vulnerable to a range of pressures on us all. These include: Lack of sleep – if you are sleep deprived you are far more likely to give in to impulses. Decision fatigue – the more decisions you make in a day, the less willpower you have left. Poor nutrition – sugar is the worst culprit here but junk foods and highly processed foods all contribute Alcohol – it goes without saying that when you are drunk you make poor decisions Stress – this is a huge drain on willpower. Your brain is busy dealing with the emergency that is triggering the ‘fight or flight’ response and there is not a lot left for considered decisions You may have other triggers that impact your life too. Just be being aware of them you are increasing your chances of exercising self-control when you need it.   Topping up your superpower So if you are constantly draining your willpower, what can you do to top it up. Of course, avoiding the things that drain it is going to be a big help but, short of moving to the top of a high mountain, living on organic hand-grown foods and sleeping ten hours a day, there will always be times when your willpower needs topping up. There are several proven ways to do this: Exercise – this is a massive stressbuster and detoxifies the body Sleep – get a good night’s sleep or take a power nap and you’ll be better able to make the choices that take you forward Meditation – which decreases stress, improves focus and increases the gap between an impulse and the action so you are more likely to resist temptation Action – when you don’t feel like it, getting started has been proven to reduce the resistance.   If you want to close the gap and be unstoppable every day then check out my free training at coaching.petecohen.com and arrange to speak to me to see how to boost your willpower superpower.   "Take action - not now but right now!   All our podcasts are available at; https://petecohen.com/podcast/ You can subscribe for podcasts here and receive our weekly newsletter to keep you inspired. In part 2 of my new podcast series focusing on Willpower, I will address Facing Up To The Truth and why so many of us don’t.   Can I be honest with you? I mean, totally, brutally, honest? Okay. Your Life Matters. That’s it. That’s the truth. So why are so many of us ignoring that? We are giving in to temptation; doing things we know aren’t good for us and failing to do things which are; taking the easy path and doing ourselves harm on the way.   The consequences of this are dire. We are addicted to our phones and to processed foods and to gambling and TV soap operas – all as the alternative from doing the things that need to be done to make us feel better. And we are polluting the planet and causing suffering to others and putting our very lives at risk. The vast majority of people in a hospital would not be there had they made better decisions.   Are you being who you are capable of being? I believe that every human being has the capacity to be great. Every one of us is brilliant at something and is a genius in their own field. You might be the world’s best accountant, or a genius at changing nappies, or know how to solve a crossword puzzle faster than anyone else. Or maybe it is something else. You are amazing. So what stops you stepping into your own power and letting your genius out? The truth is, many people don’t really know where they are going.   If you don’t know where you are going…. … How do you know what direction you need to take today? Stephen Covey is famous for saying ‘Begin with the end in mind’ and he is absolutely right. If you have a clear idea of what you want to achieve - today, this week, this year, in your lifetime – and throw in the determination to take the first step, there is nothing you cannot accomplish. Otherwise we are all like zombies, wandering about mindlessly, doing what we did yesterday and the day before and the day before that….   Lights, Camera, ACTION People love to achieve things. We all feel a sense of real satisfaction when we have accomplished something. Just thing of the last time you cleared out a cupboard and get rid of lots of things you didn’t need. The process was hard work and a bit grubby but when it was done…? Didn’t it feel just great to see that neat cupboard with everything in its’ place.   Willpower is what you need to get started on any one of those actions, which will take you forward to achievement.   Many of the things it takes willpower to do will also boost your willpower in the process, so there is a double benefit. Exercise, decluttering, nutritious natural foods and sleep have all been shown to increase self-control.   So what are you going to do today to prove to yourself that your life matters?     If you want to close the gap and be unstoppable every day then check out my free training at coaching.petecohen.com and arrange to speak to me to see how to grow your stickability.   "Take action - not now but right now!   All our podcasts are available at; https://petecohen.com/podcast/ You can subscribe for podcasts here and receive our weekly newsletter to keep you inspired. I’m delighted to release Episode 1 of my new 4 part podcast series, The Power Of Willpower.   I will help you become more focused and take control of your emotions and decisions.   Willpower – the science of self-control- is often described as the ‘queen of virtues.’  Why?   Because if you have willpower, you have the ability to do the things you need to do, even when you don’t feel like it: You don’t get distracted from that important project at work by a message on the phone; you choose to step away from the biscuit tin once you’ve had, and enjoyed, one biscuit; you hop on the yoga mat even though you aren’t in the mood.   Waving the magic wand   Just suppose you could have anything you wanted. What would you wish for? To have more energy? To make better decisions? To feel more in control of your life? To finish what you start?   Whatever it is you wish for yourself, we all have the capability to make it happen (unless you would wish to be a unicorn – as far as I know, that isn’t currently possible…). And the only difference between those who are really successful in their lives and the rest of us, is that they use that capability better than we do. They have more willpower. Those will more willpower will invariably: Be more focussed Have better control of their emotions Enjoy more fulfilling relationship Progress in their chosen career Manage stress more effectively Overcome adversity more easily…   Shall I go on?   Mmmm…. Marshmallows   One of the most famous studies into the impact of willpower on life outcomes is probably the Marshmallow Test. Pre-school children were asked to wait alone with a marshmallow (or some other treat), with the instruction that, if they waited until the adult returned, they could have two marshmallows. Some waited, some didn’t. Those children were then followed up from time to time over their lives. Those who had waited performed better in school, were less likely to divorce and more likely to have career success. So, if it had been you in that room, what would you have done? And what does that tell you about your self-control?   Good news and bad news   The bad news about willpower is that it is both finite and infinite. Every decision you make, every challenge you hit, drains your willpower. So you get up after a poor night’s sleep, skip breakfast, hit a traffic jam so are late for work, find five urgent jobs in your inbox…. By the end of the day you’ve got no willpower left and all you are seeking is something to give you an immediate ‘hit’. That might be junk food, trashy TV, a row with your partner or any other thing that morning, you promised yourself you wouldn’t do again.   The good news about willpower is that it is both finite and infinite. Think of it as the battery on your phone. When your willpower dips, there are things you can do to give it a boost. By focussing on self-care, you can increase your focus and self-control – through meditation, gratitude, exercise, diet, and sleep.     If you want to learn how to make the best decisions, then check out my free training at coaching.petecohen.com and arrange to speak to me to see how to   "Take action - not now but right now!   All our podcasts are available at; https://petecohen.com/podcast/ You can subscribe for podcasts here and receive our weekly newsletter to keep you inspired. This week we lost an absolute legend from the sporting world, as 5 times NBA winner, Kobe Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash along with his 13-year-old daughter and 7 other people.   I really want to reflect on his life and what we can all take away from this tragedy, regardless of whether you knew who Kobe Bryan was.   To me, he represents so much of what I think is important and I believe there are many lessons we can learn which I would like to share with you.   Kobi Bryant once said, “The most important thing is to try and inspire people, so that they can be great at whatever they want to do”   If you know me, you know that is the most important thing in the world to me.   I was obsessed with another sporting legend, Michael Jordan who was also a huge inspiration to Kobe. Even though I wasn’t the biggest fan of basketball, people who achieved great things, were always of interest to me.   We remain alive for as long as people remember us. How many people around the world will remember Kobi Bryant in 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, 50 years?   Kobe said that when Phil Jackson became his coach at LA Lakers, he learned a lot about mindfulness and how to play the game more effortlessly.   What is it in your life that you feel you have to pass onto other? My Dad used to say “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know” and my mum “There is an answer to everything”   I continue their legacy and say these two things to many people on a regular basis.   At some stage in our lives, we all have to look to the future and leave behind a legacy.   Kobi was always interested in getting better and improving.  He always wanted to go to the next level. Tex Winter, former assistant coach at the Chicago Bulls, played a major part in Kobi’s life.   I think, as did Kobi, that the goal of life is to learn and grow, almost in a childlike way. Getting better for him was like a drug.   Can you see that you are here to get grow and get better? Or have you just settled for a life of mediocrity? What are you striving towards?   If you have a hero or someone you look up to, are you putting into practice what they stand for?   In order to grow, we need to challenge ourselves and go through pain to stretch our skills.   Right now, do you have any goals in life? More importantly, do you have a strategy in place to achieve those goals?   If you need help to turn your goals into a reality, then ASK for help. Please never forget that.   I want to thank you Kobi Bryant – you inspired me, and will forever stay alive with me.   "Take action - not now but right now!   All our podcasts are available at; https://petecohen.com/podcast/ You can subscribe for podcasts here and receive our weekly newsletter to keep you inspired. How To Have Unstoppable Stickability, is the final instalment of my 4 part podcast series. I will look at how you all have the potential to close the gap between where you are now and where you want to be.   There is magic within you! Don’t believe me? Then just spend a few moments contemplating your mind and body. Consider all that is going on – oxygen moving from the air, to the lungs, the blood, to the brain; your body alive and vital; your brain keeping it all working; your mind coming up with ideas and making decisions every moment of every day.   Magical, yes? So let me ask you – are you making the most of it all? I once had the privilege to interview someone who was suffering from a terminal illness. She was at the end of her life and the conversation we had was deeply moving. The most profound moment was when she told me that she had spent her life doing what others expected of her – and that she wished she’d lived her life differently.       We all have the opportunity to do more, to be more and to make a difference. We all have the potential to close that gap – the gap between where we are and where we want to be.   That is what this series on The Magic of Thinking and Acting Big is all about.   Stick at it David Schwartz says in his book The Magic of Thinking Big that 95% ability is ‘stickability.’ I’m sure you know what he means. You set a goal or make a new year’s resolution and start taking action. But it gets difficult or someone who matters to us thinks we are crazy or we just get distracted. There is always something else to think about. It’s hardly surprising. We are living in a world where everyone wants your attention. Someone recently estimated that every one of us is bombarded with the equivalent of 7 editions of The Telegraph every single day. All of it full of reasons why it isn’t worth trying, stories of those who have tried and failed, world disasters and… videos of kittens! No wonder we give up on that difficult path to our dreams, and settle back into comfort. Stickability seems far too much like hard work.   Obstacles are the way In this podcast episode, you will hear from my good friend, Joe De Sena talking about his committment to getting people moving. As he travels the world on his mission, he carried with him a 20Kg kettle bell. Why? “Because,” He says, “Life is hard.” But hard isn’t impossible. Every one of us faces adversity at some point in our lives. I’m sure, if you think about it, you can remember some tough times in your life. Perhaps you lost a loved one or had a difficult relationship with someone or a work challenge or a health issue or something else. But you are still here. And you are stronger for it. You know more and can do more as a result. You probably did things you never thought possible and really showed stickability to come out the other side.   Bias towards action Let me ask you: what does winning mean to you? What does it mean to ‘win’ at your health, your concentration, your relationships, your business, your wealth? And what does it take to win? Is winning only possible for those with incredible talent? Listen to this podcast and hear how Ronnie O’Sullivan, often described as the most talented snooker player in the world, demonstrates incredible stickability. His success – and the success of every other snooker player – comes from something else. It comes from practice. Winning isn’t ‘luck’ or ‘talent’ – its hard work. It’s what you do when no one is watching.   Love the process Just suppose I had a time machine and I could take you into the future so you could see the life you are creating for yourself. There you are, living your dream and having achieved everything you always wanted to. And your future self say to you, “This life is so wonderful and so worth it – but it was hard work to get here.” If you knew, with absolute certainty, that you’d create that life you want, would you be prepared to do the hard work it would take to get there? Of course, you would! Love the practice as well as success. Lovemaking progress for making progress' sake. In other words – stick at it!   If you want to close the gap and be unstoppable every day then check out my free training at coaching.petecohen.com and arrange to speak to me to see how to grow your stackability.   "Take action - not now but right now!   All our podcasts are available at; https://petecohen.com/podcast/ You can subscribe for podcasts here and receive our weekly newsletter to keep you inspired. In my latest episode How To Overcome Excusitis, I will look at how this disease affects every single once of us, and how we can treat it. It’s an epidemic which is so widespread that we barely notice it. It is the disease of Excusitis – of finding and making excuses for not taking action or for giving in to temptation.  The term excusitis was first coined by David Schwartz in his book, The Magic of Thinking Big which has inspired my latest series of podcasts. In the book, Schwartz listed the common excuses he would come across – Most of which are just as prevalent today: Age – I’m too old (or too young) to do this…. Health – I’d do it if but I’m not fit enough… Ability – I’m not smart enough/ I don’t have the skills…. Luck – I’m just not lucky…. Time – I’m too busy…. Not one of these is true! There are a couple of other excuses, which I come across quite often too: Confidence - What will others think? Lazy – I don’t feel like it. I can’t be bothered’ Doing what everyone else is doing Conformity – Go on (or don’t bother) it’s… (Christmas, Your Birthday, the weekend, Friday, Monday…) An excuse is an interesting thing. We use them to hold ourselves back and to prevent us from taking action. Why would we do that? Part of it is coming from that primal part of us which wants us to stay safe and in one place. By not taking action, we are not inviting a risk. This is a habit we learn very early on. The most powerful driver of excuses, however, is fear. An excuse is a way of distancing yourself from blame. It is a reason not to take action. I couldn’t take action because…. And suddenly it isn’t your fault. In part 3 of this series, I will show you how to tackle excuses and eradicate them from your life. There is a helpful tool you can use here: The Two Minute Rule. If something will take you less than two minutes to complete (there or thereabouts, it doesn’t need to be an exact time) then do it right now. Don’t add it to a list or put it off until tomorrow. Answer that email right now; put the plates in the dishwasher; File those documents A great variation on this is to ‘just do two minutes’ – if you don’t feel like doing something which has an open-ended timeframe (like exercise) say to yourself “I’ll just do two minutes.” You’d be amazed how much better you feel the moment you’ve started and the two minutes you planned will last far longer. When you catch yourself in an excuse image how you will feel if you take action anyway. So think about how you will feel after you have taken action and use that to drive you forward. See the future you are working towards, whether that is a thriving business, a toned and healthy body, a relationship with someone special or something else. By focusing on what you want will take you to the point when the excuses don’t matter because nothing is going to stop you. If you want to learn more about how to think and act big, take a look at my free online coaching video at petecohen.com/coaching and book a call with me to see how you can surround yourself with a community of people who don’t let excuses get in their way.   "Take action - not now but right now!   All our podcasts are available at; https://petecohen.com/podcast/ You can subscribe for podcasts here and receive our weekly newsletter to keep you inspired. In my latest episode How To Think Greater Than You Feel, I will look at how I believe that human beings have incredible potential to achieve anything. Every one of us has the opportunity to grow, contribute, makea difference and to move towards a life that excites and inspires us. The mind is a powerful thing – it is your brain in action. Take a moment to see what your brain is up to right now. Lots of different thoughts, yes? Did I pay that bill? My foot is itching? What time do I need to leave to collect the kids? I could add in something about mindset in that report for work. Has anyone liked my post on Facebook?   In part 2 of this inspiring podcast series you will learn: -Thoughts are all over the place and they have a massive impact on everything else that is going on for you. -Why it is so important to become aware of your thoughts and what they are doing to you. -You are the bouncer for your mind and you have the power to choose what happens with your thoughts. - Awareness is critical and you have the power to choose how you respond. - What you want to feel more of the time.   Just for a moment, focus on a single thought – the thought of excitement. Think of something in your past that was really exciting: your sixth birthday party; the great New Year’s party you went to; the promotion at work… anything. How do you feel? Tingling in your toes? bubbling in your stomach? Lightness across your chest and shoulders? Those are your body’s way of managing the thought. Thoughts produce feelings. So what happens when you think: I’m going to be late? Stress; tightness; pain. And it is a vicious circle. You may not realise that the pain you feel is because you were worried you were going to be late. So now you have a thought of I’m in pain – is there something wrong with me? That generates more stress, tightness and… pain. You can end up in a spiral of negative feelings from which it is really hard to escape.   Here are just a few ways to think greater than you feel: Spend a few moments every day thinking about what you are grateful for Imagine how you will feel when you achieve one of your goals Do something to make you laugh Smile – even if you don’t feel like it right now, you will the moment you physically change the shape of your face Do something you don’t feel like doing – you’ll feel great for having achieved it.     "Take action - not now but right now!   All our podcasts are available at; https://petecohen.com/podcast/ You can subscribe for podcasts here and receive our weekly newsletter to keep you inspired.
