2020 05-07: (Warning: NSFW Language) - Another week where the boys talk about... things. Lots of things. But actually a lot about broken characters, nerfing, zoning, and such. And one epic mini-rant on how much Michael Bay's Transformers sucks. To celebrate our own 100th episode, we're taking a look at some other notable 100th episodes of our favorite TV shows. As a historical benchmark in the TV industry, many series make an extra effort to do something special for #100 and some of them even stick the landing! Thanks for enabling us for the last two years and we will continue to compare all things to Michael Bay's Transformers until Paramount makes us stop!
The CW took their 5 DC superhero shows and mashed them together with a healthy portion of fan service to bring us Crisis on Infinite Earths. As all the worlds in all the multiverse are threatened with extinction, we want to take a moment to discuss what really matters: Are these TV budget costumes good? Wasn't that guy on Scrubs? and, most importantly, is this fun, absurd, campy spectacle better or worse than Michael Bay's Transformers?
*deep, depressed, heavy sigh* We're back to watch through the sequel to the box office smash hit, Michael Bay's "Transformers" with "Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen". I have less and less words to say. Apologies because my (Kevin's) audio is a little wonky in this episode, but it's honestly the least disturbing thing about podcast. Trust me. Thanks as always for watching guys, let us know if you want us to keep this series going, and let us know what other kinds of topics you would want us to cover before Clone Wars comes back next month! Well. Yeah. Spencer had the bright idea that we sit down and watch through the entirety of Michael Bay's 2007 iteration of Transformers, and record a podcast with our live reactions to the movie, because we are still on vacation from Star Wars. We started recording over 8 minutes into the movie, so if you wanted to hear what we thought about anything before that point, you're outta luck. Watch along and experience the hilarity of this movie with us! (We recorded an episode for the sequel too, let us know if you guys wanna hear that!) Thanks as always for listening, Star Wars talk will resume soon!
Over two decades after Goodfellas and Casino, Martin Scorsese is getting the band back together for one last hurrah. Featuring the power trio of Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and the formerly retired Joe Pesci, Scorsese once again delves into violent, familiar waters in this three and a half hour gangster epic to tell the story of former mob enforcer and Jimmy Hoffa associate, Frank Sheeran. Is it too long? Should movies like this only be seen on the big screen? Is this an irresponsible narrative to be promoting? And most importantly, is it better than Michael Bay's Transformers?
The colors are a-changin', Pumpkin Spice Lattes are back at Starbucks, and we are about one week from Christmas songs violently invading the radio stations. As we transition into the most transitiony of seasons, we here at Reel Phonies want to tell you about all the movies coming out these next few months that are worth your attention. Some will be Oscar-bait, some will be hot, wet garbage, and most will be better than Michael Bay's Transformers. We're gonna think cool thoughts and step on only the crunchy leaves in this years Fall Movie Preview.
Hey everyone! Here is a compilation of our entire series review of Michael Bay's Transformers films. Thanks!
Wait, there's another Spider-Man movie? Is it still that guy from Seabiscuit? This week we're taking on Spider-Man: Far From Home where Peter Parker is, you guessed it, far from home. He learns about love and courage and the great power of responsibility while fighting an emergent evil and making a new, mysterious ally against the backdrop of some of Europe's great vistas. We're digging into our in-depth analysis, where this movie fits into the greater Marvel Universe, and how it stacks up against the most mediocre movie ever made, Michael Bay's Transformers.
This week we're taking on the Fresh Prince himself, Mr. Will Smith, and determining the best role from his illustrious 20 year career in the Hollywood. He's been charming audiences and delivering one-liners steadily since the golden days in the late 90s all the way through this year's Aladdin. We'll delve into each one of his films, rate them against the most mediocre movie ever made (Michael Bay's Transformers), and declare a single victor.
With Dark Phoenix being unexpectedly announced as the last Fox X-Men film, we thought it would be a good time to look back at Fox's 20 year run with the franchise. We'll talk about the good and the bad of this second iteration of the Dark Phoenix storyline, argue over the other 11 X-Men films released since 2000, and determine how many of them are better or worse than the most mediocre ever made, Michael Bay's Transformers.
Allen and Gerald welcome Tom Beasley of the Pick of the Flicks podcast, here on the Flickering Myth Podcast Network. We ask Tom about his career as a freelance writer, his podcast, his favorite movies, professional wrestling, and trick him into talking about Michael Bay's Transformers series. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Shazam! This week we are reviewing our second Captain Marvel movie in three weeks. But this one has wizards! It's a fun action-comedy that combines the plot of beloved, body-switching classic Big with orphans and superpowers. We'll delve into the convoluted history of the Captain Marvel/Shazam copyright, hit some highlights and lowlights of the film, and determine whether it is better or worse than the most mediocre movie ever made, Michael Bay's Transformers.
Explosions! Action! Quick Cuts! Young, scantily-clad, conventionally attractive women! That's right, this week we're talking about Michael Bay in part 1 of 2 of our Big, Dumb, Action Movie Director Showdown. We dive deep into the filmography from one of the most critically maligned and commercially successful directors out there and, in our most meta turn yet, determine whether Michael Bay's Tranformers is better or worse than the most mediocre movie ever made, Michael Bay's Transformers. Follow up next week for the conclusion our Big, Dumb, Action Movie Director Showdown as we compare Michael Bay to the only other man who can rival his love of wanton destruction, Roland Emmerich, and determine a Big, Dumb Winner.
With Avengers: Endgame just on the horizon, join us as we review the first female-led Marvel superhero film, Captain Marvel, to see how it squares against the Marvel Cinematic Universe and, of course, how it compares the most mediocre movie ever made, Michael Bay's Transformers. It's got everything you could want in a movie from 90s nostalgia to a de-aged Samuel L. Jackson and even an adorable cat sidekick.
In 2007, visionary filmmaker Michael Bay rebooted the 1980's Transformers franchise and turned it into a series of high-budget box office smash hits. And they're absolutely insane. On this week's story hole, we look past the scenes of big robots punching each other and really get to the heart of the plot in Michael Bay's Transformers series! Buckle up.
Welcome to the 47th episode of Cinema Boys! Join us as we meet talking robot cars in Michael Bay's Transformers with our guest Alex Goyette. Check us out here: Instagram: www.instagram.com/cinema_boys_podcast Tennessee Luke: www.tennesseeluke.com Alex Goyette: www.youtube.com/jouletheif
With Glass just on the horizon, we here at Reel Phonies thought it would be a good idea to reflect on the ups, downs, and headscratchers that make up the complicated but surprisingly steady filmography of the one and only M. Night Shyamalan. We share our thoughts and insight on the hits (The Sixth Sense, Signs), the misses (The Last Airbender, The Happening), and the unclear (The Village, Split) and determine whether M. Night Shyamalan, as a concept, is better or worse than Michael Bay's Transformers. Is there a twist ending? Tune in to find out!
A Star Is Born is an inventive musical drama that is also a story about love, fame, music and expressing yourself. Join us this week as we offer our impressions and analysis of Bradley Cooper's directorial debut and see how it stacks up against the most mediocre movie every made, Michael Bay's Transformers.
It's going down: We're taking on what may be the most divisive movie franchise of the 21st century: Michael Bay's TRANSFORMERS. Will Andrew turn out to be more of an Autobot or a Decepticon? Should Mike quit his job and become a professional voice actor? And are you ready for the spectacle of two straight dudes talking about feminism and sexualization in a non-horrible way? Bumblebee, stop lubricating the man; it's time for CRITICS VS. FANS! #SummerOfBay This episode was recorded in the Daily Hive Studios in Vancouver, BC. Edited by: Mike Sholars
A prequel is a movie that comes after another movie but also happens before that movie somehow? It's like time travel but for lazy, uncreative screenwriters. Yet from this pool of mediocrity, some truly notable films and TV shows occasionally emerge. This week we break down some of the highlights of the art form and work our way down to the lowlights. We also finally get to hear Christian's take on Alex Garland's Annihilation and entirely forget to compare anything at all to Michael Bay's Transformers.
Is Star Wars better than Michael Bay's Transformers from 2007? Well yes, but listen in to a whole new podcast where we compare movies and TV shows to objectively the most mediocre movie ever made
Byrd, Matt, and guest Trev (of If It Bleeds We Can Kill It and Days of Future Podcast) take KT's first dive into the Giant Robot genre by discussing what is arguably the biggest giant robot franchise in the world. We discuss all five of Michael Bay's Transformers movies, as well as the Japanese roots of Transformers (which many seem to forget), our memories of the original animated series, and why Bay's blockbusters seem to grab audiences more than the recent kaiju films have. The "Bayformers" series was one of KT's biggest viewing challenges yet, and for Byrd, these movies proved to be his cinematic kryptonite. How did the crew fare this time? Listen and find out! But first, Trev reports back from San Diego Comic-Con and discusses the presence of kaiju properties there, including the recent Pacific Rim: Uprising teaser video!

The latest installment in Michael Bay's Transformers series is out. So we're paying tribute to the one-and-only original Transformers movie: the 1980s cartoon version. And with that in mind, we're looking at an economy that might be transforming. Or maybe its a cartoon. Updated statistics about economic growth are coming out. We'll bring you up to date on the current trends and preview what to expect. We'll also take a deep dive into some recent info for a couple of key sectors. Big stats are out about the housing and banking sectors. We'll look at how these affect the overall economic picture. We'll also take an early peak at the jobs numbers due out early next month. We'll review recent employment trends and see how it might impact upcoming Fed policy. And as always, we disguise ourselves as some of Wall Street's stranger vehicles... This week, we've got a shortage of a key ingredient in everyone's third-favorite ice cream flavor. We've got a baby born on an international flight. And he's got a pretty good first birthday present. We've got a woman killed by whip cream and a high-profile TV host getting sued. We've got millions of dollars in change left behind at airport security. And we've got a Netflix innovation that might help George R.R. Martin get his say back in Game of Thrones. Eventually. Maybe.
Hey everyone! This year is the 10th anniversary of Michael Bay's Transformers franchise and this month we are seeing the release of the it's fifth film with Transformers: The Last Knight. To celebrate this achievement, we will be looking at all of the films in this series. Up first is the 2007 film that gave the Transformers brand the huge kick in the ass it needed and has made it a massive juggernaut ever since. Thanks!
People Like Us. Alex Kurtzman has written some of the biggest blockbusters in recent years. Whether it's J.J. Abrams' Star Trek or Michael Bay's Transformers, Kurtzman's screenplays play out on an epic canvas. But when it came time for his directorial debut, Kurtzman chose to make a much smaller movie. People Like Us tells the semi-autobiographical story of a man who finds out that he has a half sister, and tries to connect with her. In this episode of Stage Nine, Mike and John look at Kurtzman's directorial debut. We discuss the visual style, which parts of the story work and which don't, and how the film differs from his other work. We continue our examination of Michael Bay's Transformers series. The stupid humor is toned down, the effects are new and improved, and Megan Fox is no longer in the picture; can this series be saved after the previous picture's piss poor performance?
Michael Bay's Transformers 2 Sneak Peek. Kindle DX Pisses Off Blind Students. Sony Can Give All PS3s PS2 Emulation—But Probably Won't. Band Uses iPhone Gimmick to Get Attention (and Succeeds). Anyone who still hasn't seen the movie might want to skip this spoiler-riddled "preview" presented by the master of explosions, crashes, booms and more explosions himself, but it's a must see for everyone else. We didn't post it because we didn't want to give anything away. [ YouTube ]. Students at Arizona State University know that the college-bound Kindle DX can read texts aloud. Only trouble is, it won't read menus out loud. Good goin' there, Beez. Bottom line: Until the menus are covered by text-to-speech, the blind students are going to fight it. We'll cover it if it becomes a federal case, or if Amazon caves and hires some accessibility programmers. [ ASU - The State Press ]. A recently discovered Sony patent from late last year shows how the Cell processor found in all PS3s can fully emulate the Emotion Engine required to run PS2 games, so no matter what model you have, you'd be able to play any game you owned. But don't dust off your old God of War disc just yet—why would Sony wait this long to get you this particular feature, and to get you jazzed about games that by definition they can't profit from? Our verdict: Ain't gonna happen. [ Siliconera via CrunchGear ]. A band I've never heard of (The 88. anyone? anyone? Maybe I'm just old) decided to record an entire song using a $10 four-track iPhone recording app called Four Track. Although technically you could probably line in a decent mic, they even used the iPhone's microphone. Studio engineers will tell you that that's not the best way to get a top-40 sound. But hell, it got them a USA Today story with photo, so bully on studio engineers. The song isn't even that bad—course, I'm listening to it on laptop speakers. [ USA Today ; iTunes Store link ].
