Transformers: The Last Knight is the fifth film directed by Michael Bay about the storied toy line. The prior four were of varying quality, but The Last Knight stands out as by far the worst. A convoluted mess, it rewrites the legend of King Arthur, infusing the Autobots into the tale. This, of course, leads to a whole bunch of other nonsense, including Merlin's magical staff being of Cybertron origin. Anyway, as we rumble through this slog, we're treated to secret societies, moronic plot twists, and a smorgasbord of explosions and CGI bombast. It's a lot to digest, folks. Mercifully, though, The Last Knight's poor box office performance and abysmal reviews ensured this would be the last of the so-called Bayformers. Now, sit back, transform your taste buds with an Automatic IPA from Creature Comforts, and don't let Merlin's staff fall into Megatron's hands! The Thunderous Wizard, Chumpzilla, and Bling Blake are sliding under giant robots and wielding Excalibur! This Week's Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – Every legend hides a secret! Welcome back everyone to another episode where this week we are discussing all things Transformers with Tedthetoycollector.Listen in as we disscuss Transformers the Movie (1986) Transformers, Transformers the Last Knight and Transformers One.Table of Contents:00:00 (Inro)11:10 (Transformers the Movie 1986)30:20 (Transformers)55:00 (Transformers: The Last Knight)01:26:00 (Transformers One)01:50:10 (Movie Recomendations)
[School of Movies 2024] The initial and glowingly positive reviews are coming in for Transformers One this week. It's the first entirely-animated Transformers movie since the infamous Optimus-Prime-slaughtering 'The Transformers: The Movie' in 1986, and I am happy and hopeful for the future in that regard. But what of the state of the live action films? The fifth and final Michael Bay-directed mess was The Last Knight in 2017, which did almost HALF the box office of the obscenely successful Age of Extinction in 2014. Then came Bumblebee in 2018, very purposefully different in tone from the leery MacGuffin hunts of the Bay films. It made less again, despite being the only one with heart and soul. Then in 2023, this seventh entry sought to split the difference with a return to the MacGuffin hunt and big, noisy robot battles of the earlier entries, but with an injection of the humanity and spark of Bumblebee. This episode contains a bonus; the previously Patreon-exclusive exploration of my re-edits of the five Bayformers. What, if anything can be saved from that towering mountain of extremely lucrative scrap!?
Jake, Kevin, and Pirate Sara talk about the Transformers Mark Wahlberg Duology and what ended up going wrong.
The Legend of Josef Mencik: The Man Who Defied Nazis with a Spear Once upon a time, in a quaint village nestled in Czechoslovakia, there lived a man named Josef Mencik. Now, Josef wasn't just any ordinary man. He was a knight. Not the metaphorical, "he's a knight in shining armor" type, but a bona fide, spear-wielding, armor-clad knight—straight out of the Middle Ages, just plopped into the 20th century. He had the whole ensemble: chainmail, a plumed helmet, and a trusty steed. If there was ever a time-traveling knight, Josef was it. So, let's set the scene. It's 1938. The Nazis are rolling into Czechoslovakia like they own the place, with their tanks, machine guns, and an attitude that said, "We're here to conquer, and we brought snacks." They were the epitome of modern military might, a steamroller flattening anything in its path. But in one tiny village, they encountered a speed bump named Josef Mencik. Josef, ever the chivalrous knight, decided that his village needed defending. He wasn't going to let some goose-stepping bullies march in without a fight. So, he donned his armor, mounted his horse, grabbed his spear, and prepared for battle. As the Nazi soldiers approached, they were met with the sight of Josef, resplendent in his medieval getup, standing defiantly in the middle of the road. The soldiers, expecting maybe some light resistance or a few angry villagers, instead found themselves face-to-face with what looked like a Monty Python sketch. The commander, trying to maintain some semblance of composure, shouted, "What do you think you're doing, old man?" Josef, with all the dignity of a knight errant, responded, "I am defending my village from invaders!" The soldiers burst into laughter. They laughed so hard, some of them had to sit down to catch their breath. Here was a man, in full knightly regalia, armed with a spear, ready to take on the Third Reich. It was the most ridiculous thing they'd seen all year—and remember, these were people who'd seen Hermann Göring's wardrobe. But Josef was not deterred. "Laugh if you must," he declared, "but I will not let you pass!" Now, let's be clear. This was not the climax of some Hollywood blockbuster where the hero miraculously triumphs against impossible odds. Josef did not single-handedly defeat the Nazi army with his spear. The Nazis, still chuckling, gently disarmed him and led him away, probably pondering the sheer absurdity of it all. They took over the village, as they had many others, but Josef's spirit remained unbroken. In a time of great fear and oppression, Josef Mencik's stand was a beacon of courage, a reminder that sometimes, defiance doesn't need to be realistic—it just needs to be memorable. His act of bravery (or insanity, depending on how you look at it) was immortalized in the annals of history, a quirky footnote in the grim pages of World War II. So here's to Josef Mencik, the knight who took on the Nazis with a spear and a sense of humor. His story is a testament to the power of the human spirit—and to the fact that, sometimes, laughter is the best weapon of all.
This week, we discuss Josef Mencik, aka The Last Knight, who stood up against Germany tanks (while wearing a suit of armor) when they invaded Czechoslovakia in 1938. And...we're joined by our longtime co-host, Mark!

It took 9 weeks, but Ben & Matt finally disagree about the quality of a movie. For Mat, The Last Knight is one of the worst things he has ever seen in his entire life and potentially permanently altered his brain chemistry. Ben contends that while it's bad, it's not only not the worst Transformers movie, but not even the second worst! They discuss Cogman, 'Hot Rod' (it ain't right what they done to our boy), sozzled Merlin, poor Gemma Chan, awkwardly smushing two ideas together (again!) and generally become delirious. Check out all of our other Stranded Panda Podcasts! www.strandedpanda.com Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes Disney announced major shake-ups to its release schedule with far reaching effects to some of the biggest franchises under its belt. Most notably, the Marvel slate has seen a complete overhaul with Phase 5 film Captain America: Brave New World shifting dates from May 3, 2024 to July 26, 2024, which in turn, delays the Thunderbolts to December 20, 2024. Similarly Phase 6 is seeing Blade and The Fantastic Four pushed to February 14, 2025 and May 5, 2025 respectively. Perhaps the biggest impact is both phase-culmination Avenger films being delayed by a full year each, with The Kang Dynasty now eyeing a May 1, 2026 release and Secret Wars set for May 7, 2027. After languishing in development hell, The Flash is finally set to hit theaters later this week and the film's press tour is in full sprint! Star Ezra Miller has been noticeably absent, as the studio has focused on marketing and promoting the film itself, rather than its star, which is unsurprising given Miller's problematic past behavior. While early reviews are positive and there is certainly buzz around the flick, box office projections for its opening are soft at around $70 to $75 million. Director Andy Muscheitti has featured heavily in the film's promotion and while there won't be a script until after the writer's strike ends, he is reportedly the frontrunner for the DCU's Batman reboot: Batman: The Brave and The Bold. The Autobots and Maximals rolled out in fine fashion last weekend, taking the top spot at the box office with a $61 million domestic debut. That was enough to narrowly beat out Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in its second weekend, which saw a strong and impressive $55.4 million hold. The Transformers sequel/prequel from Creed II director Steven Caple Jr. is a recent series best, beating 2018's Bumblebee which opened to $21.6 million and 2017's The Last Knight's $44.6 million debut. According to industry insiders, Nintendo and Illumination are reportedly close to finalizing a deal for the next entry in the Nintendo film franchise: The Legend of Zelda. More Nintendo films were a given in the wake of The Super Mario Bros. Movie's unbridled $1.6 billion success, with many fans clamoring for a Zelda adaptation specifically. Always the shrewd business, Nintendo is apparently aware of the franchise's potential as the insider reports also suggest that obtaining rights will cost Universal “a pretty penny.” Adult Swim has released a new trailer for the upcoming animated series My Adventures with Superman, starring Jack Quaid as Superman. Ahsoka will begin streaming on Disney+ on August 23rd. (We originally reported a rumor that it would be streaming 8/31). Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is currently tracking for a $60+ million dollar domestic box office outing. This lackluster projection comes on the heels of lackluster reviews, a sparse marketing campaign, and a crowded summer blockbuster listing of films. Tom Holland announced that following the emotional weight of his upcoming AppleTV+ series The Crowded Room, that he is taking a year off from acting. Holland recently described the role as leading to "a bit of a meltdown" in his personal life. The first 5 minutes of the upcoming Marvel series Secret Invasion is now available to view online. The first episode of the series begins streaming on June 21st. Lucasfilm Games has released the first cinematic trailer for the upcoming Star Wars game Star Wars Outlaws. A gameplay trailer was also shown and the game was described as the “first open world star wars game” 'Stan Lee,' an original documentary on the life and impact of Marvel comics creator Stan Lee arrives on Disney+ this week on June 16th.
Hey everyone, here we go again... the latest Transformers film - Transformers: Rise of the Beasts - has now hit theaters in my local market and to say I was skeptical would be an understatement. I've grown up owning a LARGE amount of Transformers toys and enjoying some of the early material but these movies really burned me by Age of Extinction and The Last Knight. I'm a fan of Steven Caple Jr's work from Creed II so I was really pulling for him to make the first great MAINLINE Transformers movie (I REALLY liked Bumblebee). So, is Transformers: Rise of the Beasts another bad entry in this long-running franchise or have they finally figured out how to make this iconic toy line work on the big screen? Find out in this SPOILER-FREE review. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts: Directed by: Steven Caple Jr. Screenplay by: Joby Harold and Darnell Metayer & Josh Peters and Erich Hoeber & Jon Hoeber Story by: Joby Harold Produced by: Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Duncan Henderson, Don Murphy, Mark Vahradian Music by: Jongnic Bontemps Cinematography by: Enrique Chediak Edited by: William Goldenberg, Joel Negron Production Design by: Sean Haworth Casting by: Wittney Horton Cast: Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Luna Lauren Velez, Dean Scott Vazquez, Tobe Nwigwe, Peter Cullen, Ron Perlman, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Yeoh, Liza Koshy, John DiMaggio, David Sobolov, Pete Davidson Synopsis: A '90s globetrotting adventure that introduces the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons.

You may have seen Remi as one of the star actors of the movie: Transformer, The Last Knight. Born into Nigerian Royalty, his family lost everything, and they moved to the USA. Growing up in the Bronx, Remi fell into a life of crime. At 19, he decided to turn his life around, and he joined the US Military. After a long a winding road in the Military, Remi eventually achieved his dream of being a Navy SEAL. Hollywood director, Michael Bay was in need of a SEAL for the Transformers movie, and Remi answered the call. His role of consultant quickly turned into an acting role, and he ended up spending months on the movie set instead of days. Today Remi is a film maker, and author. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/tango-romeo/message
Ohhhh boy! It's the moment you've all been waiting for. We are here to finish the storied franchise of the "Transformers" series with the 5th installment, "Transformers: The Last Knight" (yes we know we haven't done the first one yet). Join us in our journey along the world of alien robots inhabiting Earth, but this time, also throw in King Arthur and the round table, Merlin the wizard, Dora the Explorer, a fucking Suicide Squad, oh and the god of all transformers. Unfortunately, we are missing Devon for this capstone episode, but we press on anyways. Does Optimus Prime end up finding his own creator? Was Queen Elizabeth a fan of the "Transformers" series? And why is water polo named that if it has nothing to do with actual polo? Tune in this week to find out all this and more, but only on "The Good, The Bad, & The Movies"! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/tgtbtm/message
Episode 307 of the Seibertron.com Twincast / Podcast starts with a very brief discussion on recent trips to the store to look for Cosmos. After that, the team goes through the descriptions and unofficial imagery from last month's TF Nation fan convention where a first draft script for The Transformers: The Movie was unveiled to the public for the first time. Discussion then shifts to the Studio Series products revealed during Hasbro's most recent brand livestream where toys like The Fallen, Crosshairs, Hot Rod (from The Last Knight) and Studio Series 86's Core Class Rumble. Thoughts about the design information currently being shared with fans follows that before the talk moves on to early pessimism about next year's lineup of Generations Leader Class toys. A listener question about the current usage for old Botcon exclusives leads into the recurring Bragging Rights segment to wrap things up.
Today we are excited to be joined by an expert on Bl. Emperor Karl, David Ross, to help inform and instruct us on how we can learn from his holy life and Christ like example. Bl. Karl was elevated to the throne as Emperor of the Austrian Hungarian Empire in 1916 in the midst of the War to End All Wars, WWI. We discuss how he virtuously and heroically balanced his life as a Catholic Emperor, loving husband, and passionate father. He knew great suffering having been betrayed by his friend, forced into exile without his children, and ultimately dying at the young age of 35. He is a saint for modern men, join us.
Our first tale of the week is a story of a noble knight under the besieging army of a bishop in 'The Last Knight of Altenahr'.
